Hello, any over 40s being called yet (by age only) and if so whereabouts (roughly)?
Thanks

My husband (49) and I (48) both unexpectedly received invites by text from GP yesterday. Husband is going today and I'm going tomorrow for our vaccination. We're in North Yorkshire. Had resigned ourselves to a delay and so this came as very welcome news. I assume if the vaccination centre has supply and they have already "mopped up" in the other categories then they are being very efficient and moving down through the age ranks. I'm impressed and very pleased as a teacher to be getting the vaccine now.

Last week DH and I. Seems to be quite a lot getting it in my borough.

KatherineJaneway · 23/03/2021 06:42

Our borough seems way behind everyone else Sad

Quadrangle · 23/03/2021 08:36

I think Croydon must be way ahead as a 49 year old MP chap was saying he had it at the beginning of March and that he was low risk, so can't be group 6

A local GP has just put on Facebook they are moving on to the under 50 cohort. Our GP isn't yet. Very much a postcode lottery.

London1305f · 23/03/2021 09:34

I got a text inviting me to book a vaccine yesterday. I am 45.

NeverForgetYourDreams · 23/03/2021 23:23

Dorset - we are 40s and had our vaccine Saturday. Most in the queue were our age. It all seems a bit random but guess it's down to how many of a certain age each surgery has and maybe our surgery didn't have as many over 50s as others?

Stillgoings · 24/03/2021 07:42

Our GPs are just moving on to 60+

fadingfast · 24/03/2021 12:32

I don’t understand how some GPs are starting on the 40+ group. Our GP practice has issued a statement today saying they wish they could move on to the next cohort but they are prevented from doing so without permission from the DoH. Is it just that they are playing it by the book and other practices ignoring it? I’ve no objection to lower age groups getting it, the quicker the better as far as I’m concerned (and at 48 of really like mine!) Just seems very odd that different areas are taking such a different attitude.

nordica · 24/03/2021 12:43

My GP surgery texted me an invite for a smear test this morning and I felt so disappointed it was not the invite I really want to get!! Felt a glimmer of hope seeing "GPSurgery" had texted.

polelynn · 24/03/2021 14:21

@fadingfast our surgery has done likewise whereas others in our town are continuing. It is very frustrating.

Comefromaway · 24/03/2021 14:36

A work colleague had a text this morning from his Dr but he had to be able to get there this afternoon. I think it was due to cancellations.

The boss has given him the afternoon off no question.

My surgery has said the same that they aren't allowed to move onto the under 50s. Very annoying that other surgeries seem to be disregarding this.
2020isnotbehaving · 24/03/2021 14:50

It should be easy for each GP or area to show what age group they have done but ignore those who got it for Job or carer or preexisting condition.

This rate we are going have some areas finish while others are starting 30s/40s

middleager · 24/03/2021 16:05

My GP does not give the vaccination on site.

The neighbouring surgery does. So frustrating that the neighbouring surgery has been fast tracking those in their 40s, most younger than me.

OvaHere · 24/03/2021 16:40

I hope they get to us soon. Both 40s and 50s are a vulnerable group in some ways. We aren't young enough to throw off a virus easily but not old enough to keep ourselves semi isolated (i.e retired). We're the ones stuck liasing between generations with school kids still living at home and elderly parents who need help. On top of that most are working too.

I know statistically other groups are higher risk of severity of illness so I don't have an issue with the order things have been rolled out in but it's a bit anxiety inducing on a personal level to be left hanging.

BogRollBOGOF · 24/03/2021 16:50

DH has booked his appointment. Low risk, not been to the GP since he had a routine check up for turning 40 many, many years ago. I'd laugh at him for being old, but I've just had a big birthday so will hopefully follow in the next month or so.

He's only about 3 weeks behind his 89 yo mother in the EU!

megletthesecond · 24/03/2021 16:59

I've know people younger than me in their 40's being jabbed in our town in Hampshire but still nothing for me yet. I think it's really GP dependent 😕.

Freetodowhatiwant · 24/03/2021 17:00

All my friends in their 40s in SE London have had theirs already. I am 46 and live in Sussex. No sign for me but a 51 yo friend just had it.

YellowPurple · 24/03/2021 17:02

People who are 40 with no medical conditions have been called here ....

Yes this is exactly it. Working age with children at school, and although the risk of dying is still reasonably low, more likely to suffer severe (and potentially long lasting) symptoms.

To be fair to our surgery we got the text on the Tuesday and then they announced on Thursday that no under 50s to be offered after 29th March. So our GP surgery did nothing wrong

If my reaction to the vaccine is anything to go by then I would suffer a lot with the actual virus. (48 and healthy no health issues)

My worry is that GPs are jabbing people under 50 with vaccines that will be needed soon for the 2nd jabs of older people. If the DoH has calculated that with the future supply issues we need to slow down the vaccinations, I think GPs should be sticking to it or we will have problems in the next few weeks.

But I'm a cynic and when GPs are being paid £12+ per vaccination, why would they?

DP got the text today and appointment on Friday, he turned 40 a couple of weeks ago. We’re in Essex.
