And go from 2.2 million to 3.9 million.

Breaking news...

GinPin2 This is about shielding not vaccination cohort. Those people would probably have been before you anyway as they would have been in group 6 or higher.

Rockbird · 17/02/2021 19:55

Not sure, this is what I got.

Shielding list to be virtually doubled
OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/02/2021 20:11

900,000 is approximately 3 days of delay to the vaccination program.

Abraxan · 17/02/2021 20:28

Re high blood pressure- only pulmonary hypertension is taken into account in the algorithm.

Other types of hypertension only come into play if accompanying other health conditions iirr.

EasterIssland · 17/02/2021 20:31

@Rockbird where did you get that image from ? That’s not the qCOVID page is it ?

Abraxan · 17/02/2021 20:32

To my mind it seems that this algorithm assumes a genetic difference between races- which is absolutely shocking! It also completely ignores the risks of occupation. Another biased algorithm from the Govt!?

It will place BAME as higher risk as this has shown to be the case in 'real life' experience of covid.

Occupation hasn't been taken into account at all.

If you have underlying conditions that make you higher risk you will be group 6, if not enough for group 4. Therefore will be vaccinated before your dh iirr.

Rockbird · 17/02/2021 20:32

Is it not? That's what comes up when I go to the page?

EasterIssland · 17/02/2021 20:32

Sorry @Rockbird forget my other comment. Got confused

CreakingatTheWhinges · 17/02/2021 20:38

My 12 yr old DD is CEV & has been shielding since March. She had it extended to 31st March too and letter clearly states she is not to go back to school if restrictions are lifted. I'm really hoping the data about vaccine safety/efficacy for those under 18 will be known & available asap.
As a carer for her (unpaid) & my other children, (2 CV) I got a text from GP surgery yesterday inviting me to book jab next week for which I am extremely grateful. However I also feel really guilty that I will be getting it ahead of my children (whilst understanding why) but especially in front of some of those PP's here who are at higher medical risk than I.

Having tried to read around a bit, I do think there is potentially info about the newer variants detected that may be more concerning and we just haven't been told... yet...

kowari · 17/02/2021 20:50

83 is your "covid age" and not the score that is looked at as another poster on a different thread has really helpfully explained:
I thought it was just a ranking, like maybe 83rd percentile, not an equivalent age? I put in DS's details, as if he was 19 not 14 as that was the minimum and he got 2/100.

pinkearedcow · 17/02/2021 21:17

I don't know kowari you may be right, I am going by what the poster I quoted said!

Nanuki · 17/02/2021 21:25

@Rockbird You divide a by b to give you your relative risk - yours comes up as 13 so you may be invited to shield (0.003 divide by 0.0023).

That number cut off is 10 so you are very borderline for the shielding invite and it will probably be your GP who decides.

Rockbird · 17/02/2021 21:41

Thanks, I would never have known how to get to that figure. At least I have some idea where I stand now.

Pastelpainter · 17/02/2021 21:47

If someone comes up with a relative risk of 20, should they contact their gp to see if they should shield? (Not sure if data would have been logged on any national database to be considered for shielding although GP does have the details).

Nanuki · 17/02/2021 21:54

@Pastelpainter I think it's up to the individual and circumstances, and whether they want and have had the vaccine, whether they are going to work / school etc.

Does the GP have the person's email address and mobile number for contact as this is happens quicker than the hard copy letters (although I've not had a text for a while now, the e-mails come through very quickly).

Northernsoulgirl45 · 17/02/2021 22:00

Score of 52. Wrong side of 50. BMI bordering on morbidly obese and asthma.
Although recorded weight GP likely to be lower.
No idea if enough to shield.

Nanuki · 17/02/2021 22:09

@Northernsoulgirl45 you need the relative risk value (a/b) and the a value to find out whether you may need to shield.

ReginaTheEvilQueen · 17/02/2021 22:15

I know diabetes is taken into account, but i wonder if pre diabetes would count towards the chances of getting a shielding letter? Before the first lockdown i was told i was pre diabetic (for type 2)

SallyB392 · 17/02/2021 22:32

Those worried about being pushed back on the vaccination list, shouldn't worry too much, we are only talking 3 days later based on current vaccination levels, and many of these will have been in group 6 anyway, so may or may not have been ahead of you in any case.

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 17/02/2021 23:17

Wow i assumed my bmi would take me over the edge from cv into shielding but my a/b is 3.2 and 4.6 .

I have a couple of other conditions not on there which count as cv (but not ecv). I am morbidly obese which has terrified me but if 10 is the cut off this is a bit more reassuring (I assume my age is a protective factor.)

ReginaTheEvilQueen · 18/02/2021 00:12

My a/b score is 3.7 & 3.3, but when i did it again and ticked yes for diabetes (incase they include my pre diabetes in that) my a/b score jumped up to 30.7 & 10.6

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 18/02/2021 00:18

I am waiting for results of a blood test - I am really scared I will have diabetes or prediabetes so I guess I could be in a similar position. I was so hoping that having the vaccine would leave me feeling safe to go to shops/meet a friend for a walk. To be told I now need to shield might break me.

ReginaTheEvilQueen · 18/02/2021 00:25

@TryingNotToPanicOverCovid they may not include pre diabetes in the new list, guess I will find out if i get a letter in the next week or so

Familyshopper · 18/02/2021 08:24

I suppose if you had issues with your health to do with your weight then the doctor would have this info I doubt the doctors are going to be allowing people into the list because they think they are fat if so we’d be here forever

Iootraw1 · 18/02/2021 08:31

And yet still front line police officers and our teachers soon to be back face to face teaching aren’t on the priority list.
