So daft but for me.....IKEA.

I want the familiarity of being corralled around the warehouse, picking up some tea lights and sandwich bags and some meatballs.

I miss IKEA.

Hotcuppatea · 12/02/2021 21:41

Bookshops. Anyone will do.

RaininSummer · 12/02/2021 21:43

My going to shops gene must have gone missing over the years as I really don't enjoy shops any more. Been like this for at least 10 years Still like online spending though.

Fiddlestix2021 · 12/02/2021 21:53

I really wanted to go to Topshop in Oxford St, but don't think it will be there anymore 😞

Katie1784 · 12/02/2021 21:55

My wonderful local family-owned department store which I fear is going to be a case of "use it or lose it"

Spillanelle · 12/02/2021 21:59

I don’t even really like shopping, but would quite like to just spend an hour ambling around John Lewis.

ifitpleasesandsparkles · 12/02/2021 22:00

Charity shops and local shops. Also my favourite local ice cream cafe and restaurant. I'll be running down there on opening day.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 12/02/2021 22:04

Yy to charity shops. I hate buying books off Amazon- even Ebay annoys me. The library has stopped their click and collect so I'm stuck with whatever I can get on BorrowBox (audio book loan) and whatever I can scroungers from colleagues

I am located in central London so a stroll away from some pre pandemic hot spots. Can’t wait for all the go to uber cool deluxe central London one stop retail therapy gin palaces to browse, feel, try, buy, eat, drink and chill. Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Fortnum & Mason, Selfridges, Liberty etc etc. It would be like pre pandemic retro yesteryear but preferably less over crowded. Hatchards Piccadilly is always a favourite for a browse and restocking physical reading materials as with grabbing a light bite or coffee in Seven Dials Market or Mercato Mayfair etc.

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz

abe books
are great for second hand books - there are some charities selling on there too- there's an Oxfam bookshop.

Books start from around £2.80 including postage - so free really, the postage is that much.

I don't like shopping and haven't been into town since sept 2019 I guess. What I'd like to do is to walk around the town after all the shops have closed and just look in the windows. I don't need to buy anything, I would just like to be able to drive the 10-15 miles and walk somewhere different.

Charity shops would be useful but mostly I want to go swimming (& to the office)

Neenan · 13/02/2021 06:20

None to be honest. Last time lockdown lifted there was fuck all decent in the shops after being stuck on a container in the ocean for so long. Now it’s all piled up in Felixstowe.

Oversize · 13/02/2021 06:50

Any shop. Any shop at all as long as it's with 2 of my mates and we were having one of our days out (bent double with laughter, cheeks hurting with it, boozy lunch lasting till 4, ending up being the last to leave a pub we'd just popped into for a quick one on the way home )😭😭

pourmeanotherglass · 13/02/2021 07:23

Dunno - have of them have closed and the rest wont have changing rooms open. I miss being able to try stuff on.
Im looking forward to cafes and restaurants opening.
Shop- wise, it will be nice to be able to buy whatever i need without having to pay postage. Anything from Acryllic paint in WHSmith to Lush shampoo bars to browsing books in Waterstones. I like walking into town, browsing, having a coffee, etc.

PeachiceT · 13/02/2021 07:31

@speakout

Dentist.

I haven't been able to get a check up for a year. Level 4 Since Feb

Are some dentists not operating during lockdown? We've all been for check ups, and my husband has had some work done too.

Are some dentists not operating during lockdown? We've all been for check ups, and my husband has had some work done too.

I think some are- my OH has been able to get a check up- we have different dentists.
My dentist has suspended check ups- only doing emergency work.
I don't want to change my dentist, but if this goes on much longer I may have to.
Luckily I am on the 12 month check up programme anyway- was with my last dentist too. My teeth are good and stable, I have only had one piece of dental work in 30 years.

Misericordia · 13/02/2021 11:24

I think ours only does emergency work during lockdown, but luckily the covid rates went very low where I am in July and August and they were able to open to everyone for a bit so I went in august. I'm due again now but will wait a bit

alltheadrenalin · 13/02/2021 11:58

I can't get in to see my Nhs dentist but can as a private patient. Due to go for a scale and polish at £65 this week

DenisetheMenace · 13/02/2021 12:00

Another charity shopper here, need some clothes!

Devlesko · 13/02/2021 12:02

Primark, charity shops.
I never go for coffee with friends, but really want to.

mum2jakie · 13/02/2021 12:05
