The old one filled up before we could link a new one but here we are.

@Doilooklikeatourist

I don’t think Drakeford will agree with Boris , he’ll have to do something just a bit different
Again giving insurance policy wriggle room 🙈
justasking111 · 11/05/2021 13:24

2nd jab on Thursday, FB surgery asked us to apply, you cannot get through on phone, you are not allowed to book in person through the surgery intercom so it was challenging, however, they responded to an e mail.

Keep watching figures, praying none of the variants hitting english areas turn up here. So far so good.

pinkearedcow · 11/05/2021 16:49

Is the next announcement for us on Friday? Scotland and England are both allowing indoor meeting from Monday, I do hope it is the same for us.

ImAllOut · 11/05/2021 17:44

I think a lot of people took the extended household reintroduction to mean they could meet indoors anyway so not sure "permission" would make much difference!

ArosGartref · 11/05/2021 22:41

6 people inside at regulated premises from Monday.

110APiccadilly · 12/05/2021 08:56

BBC Wales saying they must stay 2m apart if not from the same household. I'm struggling to even visualise this tbh, and wondering how many businesses will enforce it. (Also crossed my mind it could be counter-productive - I'm imagining a pub full of people 2m apart all shouting to be heard!!)
ImAllOut · 12/05/2021 12:13

Yes I'm really not seeing many pubs having 12m+ circumference tables. What a crock of shite.

ArosGartref · 12/05/2021 13:32

I'm sure last year the guidance was to maintain distance as much as possible on your table with 2m between tables. Otherwise it's completely impractical.

I certainly don't remember the "must remain 2m apart within your group" stuff happening last time, and in fact we went out a couple of times for meals with people from other households where we weren't 2m apart (and couldn't have been, owing to the space available).

Agreed
Haywire · 13/05/2021 16:01

Agreed this doesn't make sense no pub/cafe/restaurant could make that work.

I wonder what else will come out of todays review/tomorrows announcement. Hope we are allowed to meet with another household inside not just one extended household. Scotland and England can do this from Monday I think or is it rule of six in England?

It's been so cold and now so wet could really do with having people round for a cup of tea inside!

I do not know many people who are now sticking exactly to the rules; I think the perception of risk has subsided to the degree that even those who would normally be law abiding have found themselves questioning the validity of the sacrifice required.

110APiccadilly · 13/05/2021 16:43

It's rule of 6 or 2 households indoors in England from Monday - we're off to stay with English relatives for a couple of days next week so I'm clued up. Don't know about Scotland.

Haywire · 14/05/2021 08:08

So any changes to meeting indoors/extended household rules are going to be from 7th June if all continues in right direction, which feels a long time away. Sounds from MD interview on Radio 4 this morning that they were going to change them earlier but Indian Variant situation has spooked them.

Doilooklikeatourist · 14/05/2021 08:10

Just watching Drakeford on bbc news , and he’s still advising not to travel abroad on holiday , implying also that Cardiff airport won’t be open
Stay in Wales for your holiday . Hmmmm
As @justasking111 said , an insurance nightmare

ImAllOut · 14/05/2021 08:41

Is anyone really going to pay attention to the 7th June date anyway, I don't know anyone who hasn't been doing what they want since at least April anyway.

110APiccadilly · 14/05/2021 09:45

"Stay in Wales for your holiday."

If you can find somewhere that isn't booked out, of course. Still, if he wants to bankrupt the airport that his own government owns (or is it part-owns by now?), that's his affair I suppose (except of course that it's public money).

hellswelshy · 14/05/2021 10:35

I am quite surprised that the FM has now said that it's advisable to not travel abroad at all in 2021. Is that not a bit premature? I have a holiday booked in August, and hope to go (Portugal) if everything is in place. And as for recommending holidays in Wales, well we have done that for the last year but I want some sun!

DdraigGoch · 14/05/2021 10:53

I was thinking just yesterday that he'd use it as an excuse.

But why would he want to use this as an "excuse" for not lifting more restrictions?
tinytemper66 · 14/05/2021 11:35

I have booked to go to London during half term and am going to England for short breaks in the summer holidays. Tui cancelled my holiday to Italy last month so will be going to England instead.
I am not staying in Wales as nothing appeals to me. £££ prices for a caravan in Tenby etc [if there is even vacancies]
I won`t be going abroad but I think it is silly to tell us to holiday in Wales.

pinkearedcow · 14/05/2021 11:54

I don't think I want to go abroad this year tbh. It's all too uncertain and won't be much fun with the restrictions other countries have, some of which are stricter than ours. France still has a curfew at the moment and restuarants aren't even open outside yet.

pinkearedcow · 14/05/2021 11:59

It's been so long since I have been in one I have forgotten how to spell restaurant.

DdraigGoch · 14/05/2021 13:44

But why would he want to use this as an "excuse" for not lifting more restrictions?
Because he has consistently applied stricter rules in Wales than in England, even when our case numbers do not merit it. When there is no money left to pay for all of these lockdowns he will undoubtedly blame "Tory cuts" even though he has been responsible for the harsh restrictions upon the Welsh economy.

ArosGartref · 14/05/2021 13:52

I think I've been lucky this past year in the sense that my approach to risk has been broadly similar to the Welsh government's. If anything they've gone beyond what I would like as I've been actively trying to keep BIL out of my extended household Grin. Alas from Monday he will be allowed back.

We've always had UK holidays since we had kids - often Wales but not exclusively. Haven't decided where to go this year but I'm sure we'll find somewhere.

The best news is obviously Softplay is back!

pinkearedcow · 14/05/2021 14:36

I generally think Drakeford has done a good job for the people of Wales @DdraigGoch. He's not afraid to be unpopular, unlike a certain person.
