The old one filled up before we could link a new one but here we are.

@ImAllOut

They really need to do away with this case rate tracker now and move to hospitalisation rates instead, to remind everyone that this past year has been about not overwhelming the NHS, not counting people with flu symptoms.
Sorry this is not an official thing just some bod I follow on Twitter. Agree the hospitalisation rates in particular should be more important now
ImAllOut · 06/03/2021 11:52

Sorry @Frazzled2207 that wasn't directed at you in particular! I think the saturation with figures in the media and daily PHW updates are quite unhelpful, the unofficial trackers are definitely interesting to look at now and again to see a general trend.

Petitmum · 06/03/2021 12:22

@ArosGartref

Did I imagine that staff in special needs schools are having the vaccine?
I'm a governor of a special school and all of the staff who wanted to be vaccinated have been. They are classed as carers as they are providing intimate care to pupils.
DdraigGoch · 07/03/2021 12:12

All counties are below 80 cases per 100k now! Looks like the worst of the YG outbreak has passed.

Looks like it's going to be changed to "stay local". As someone in rural Wales I'll take that as being able to go to the nearest proper town which is 18 miles away(lots of people have been going anyway). Have been so limited here with shopping/doing it online. Being able to go pop to Poundland and home bargains will seem amazing. Haven't been since before Xmas.

Zofloramummy · 07/03/2021 12:21

I’m a 1:1 TA with a vulnerable child, I provide personal care but am yet to be vaccinated although I sent off all my information over a month ago. So not all support staff have been vaccinated. The admin staff in my local health board have been though!

Sadik · 07/03/2021 13:36

That's really rubbish Zofloramummy - I know my friend who works in social care has been offered the vaccine, though she didn't take up the offer as currently not ftf with clients & will come up shortly on age basis. (Maybe because she's employed by the health board?)

I've been pretty supportive of WG choices on the whole but I really feel they need to loosen up now, well under 20 per 100k cases here. Surely at the very least organised activities outdoors could restart & it's hard to see why outdoors socialising wouldn't be OK.

I get that they're reluctant to open up other things before schools, but it's so clear that outdoors contact is really very low risk, and surely dc would benefit from clubs starting up.

In terms of driving to shops I can't imagine why you shouldn't do it now CeeJay - I've taken my dad into the opticians twice in the last month (don't ask!) which is that kind of distance & didn't think twice about it.

CeeJay81 · 07/03/2021 16:45

@Sadik We'll be going on the the bus cause we don't have a car, that's why I haven't yet Once the non essential shops/stay local thing happens I'll def be going. Ceredigion have such low case numbers.

pinkearedcow · 08/03/2021 10:44

Bore da all.

Is the next review this week or next week? I have totally lost track.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 08/03/2021 11:34

This Friday.

pinkearedcow · 08/03/2021 11:45

Thank you. I really hope there is some easing of restrictions.

ArosGartref · 08/03/2021 12:04

I'm expecting them to remove the stay at home restrictions but I'm not sure if there will be anywhere I want to go!

I agree, but watching that map turn bluer and bluer has been so lovely!
tinytemper66 · 08/03/2021 12:44

BBC Wales just reporting that no deaths (from 28 days of a positive Covid test) have been reported today. First time since September. Some good news.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 08/03/2021 20:38

Great news! Plus nearly 1 million people have had the first dose now, which is just amazing.

ArosGartref · 08/03/2021 21:11

Has anyone else watched this S4C Mark Drakeford thing? It's quite interesting.

tinytemper66 · 08/03/2021 21:31

I can't believe we will have the 5 mile rule back (If it is as reported).

Pandapotato · 08/03/2021 23:05

@ArosGartref we did! I enjoyed it and thought he came across quite well. Definitely agree with his view on Boris 🤣

@tinytemper66 I hope they use some sense & just stuck to a rough guidance, rather than a specific distance. The geography here is so varied. I’m sure there are some places that hardly have another house for 5 miles.

QuiltedBear · 09/03/2021 06:39

Even the first time around, the five mile rule was guidance rather than a strict measure - though admittedly not very well publicised as such.

Zoomoff · 09/03/2021 11:28

I enjoyed the Drakeford documentary last night. It showed him in a good light. Showed him as normal and not a pious teetotaller.

Lupinhere37 · 09/03/2021 13:50

I’ve just had a phone call inviting me for vaccination this week.
Aneurin Bevan Health Board. I’m 46 and was very surprised to receive the call. Delighted though, that they’re making good progress.
My DF just got called for his second jab too; same health board.

Likeindie · 09/03/2021 14:00

And this one

gov.wales/get-covid-19-vaccine-unpaid-carer

Totallyfedup1979 · 09/03/2021 16:04

Stay local?

If I’m at work which is 30 miles from home, can I shop during my lunch break?

Or do I have to travel home and use the supermarkets nearest my house?

When I travel 10 minutes out of county to bring shopping for my 90 year old grandmother, can I pop to the shop there?

Or can I mix and match a bit of everything, depending on what’s most local and convenient to me at the time? Grin

I think stay home is redundant now and stay local is going to be a joke. The only things I’m interested in going forward are ‘stay sane’ and ‘stay a reasonable weight’.

tinytemper66 · 09/03/2021 16:27

[quote Likeindie]I don’t know if this has been posted it’s a self referral form for unpaid carers to get vaccine

I just did this as I provide care for a relative who is disabled. Took a while to get the right link but then it was quick and I was eligible. Thank you.
