The old one filled up before we could link a new one but here we are.

@orangejuicer

Just to say that my brother in law (group 5) has had his vaccination today and my partner (group 6) has had his appointment through.
😊🙌
orangejuicer · 04/03/2021 17:27

I thought I'd post just to update and hopefully give hope to others Smile I'm in south Wales.

ArosGartref · 04/03/2021 17:36

On a similar note, my group 4 dad has an appointment for his 2nd jab. It'll be 4-5 weeks between the 2.

I'm feeling optimistic about the future for the first time in a long while.

Lupinhere37 · 04/03/2021 19:16

@ArosGartref
That does all sound like we can be cautiously optimistic. I feel a bit more hopeful today as well, although can’t put my finger on why, as it’s been miserable weather and nothing has happened apart from wfh as usualGrin

@tinytemper66 We had good news today; yr 12 DD back at school for one week before Easter, so at least some face to face schooling but more importantly, some socialisation for her! Hope you get your vaccine soon, if you’re pupil facing.

@Lupinhere37
My Health board projects I will be vaccinated for the first dose between 9th-19th April. I am pupil facing so am looking forward to it and hope the dates are what is projected.

ArosGartref · 04/03/2021 19:33

Did I imagine that staff in special needs schools are having the vaccine?

DdraigGoch · 04/03/2021 20:54

They are certainly being counted as "care workers" in some parts of the UK.

They've all had the jab in our secondary special needs school, not just teachers
ArosGartref · 04/03/2021 21:16

That's good. Support staff probably need it more if anything. I was asking as the news cycle is so fast atm it's hard to keep track of whether everything that's announced is actually happening.

Similarly I really want to ask the head of my son's school if they're getting access to additional funds for catch up and or mental health support. At the same time, I don't want to overburden her.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 04/03/2021 22:31

Dmum has had her appt for her 2nd vaccine. She thought it was an error as it's only 5 weeks since jab 1, but I assured here there's been plenty of people on the town's social media page saying that plenty of other people have been called in a similar gap.

I am a long way away from getting mine (40-49 group, my asthma makes no difference!) but my major concern all along was passing it on from my school to Mum at home. So it's a relief she'll be covered by the full immunity level possible in just a few more weeks.

justasking111 · 04/03/2021 23:28

OH has had his second appointment as have others locally five week gap which is a relief it will mean he can stop worrying

tinytemper66 · 05/03/2021 09:13

According to the local health board post on SM, my mum should get her second dose in the next 10-14 days or so.

Frazzled2207 · 05/03/2021 09:18

I hear it’s only Pfizer people getting their second jabs after 5ish weeks. Parents getting theirs next week. Then again AZ “prefers” a longer gap doesn’t it.

justasking111 · 05/03/2021 13:17

From what I can gather zero change at briefing today

DdraigGoch · 05/03/2021 13:38

I passed Venue Cymru on my way in to work, the NHS staff parking was absolutely full. Hopefully that means that vaccinations there are running at full chat at the moment.

I've just had my appointment for the 2nd dose through - Pfizer. It will have been 7 weeks between doses. Much sooner than I'd expected.
ImAllOut · 05/03/2021 16:55

I don't understand when they plan to make the Years 3-6 announcement if they plan for them to be back in from 15th March. Are they intending on keeping us on our toes and shouting 'surprise' three days before, then announcing whether they're going in or not?

ArosGartref · 05/03/2021 17:02

I don't think there's going to be another announcement centrally and schools will communicate it. My school sent out details on Wednesday for KS2 and another friend in RCT knows that her school is going back from 15th.

ImAllOut · 05/03/2021 17:10

Ah ok. Mine sent out a letter today saying they'd update us on arrangements soon but I wasn't sure whether it was definite arrangements or that they were waiting for confirmation from Kirsty Williams et al. Good to know!

BonnyandPoppy · 05/03/2021 17:16

Got my second vaccine date for 14th March which will be 4 weeks after first (Pfizer). Daughter had hers (oxford) and they said it will be 11-12 weeks till second.

user1493494961 · 05/03/2021 22:23

Had my second vaccine date (Pfizer) six weeks after first (N Wales).

DrMadelineMaxwell · 05/03/2021 22:26

They've told us they will be back if the case rates allow. Cases are dropping slowly and they will just confirm on Friday that is going ahead. We have had guidance on how to plan as a school from this week so will be prepared.

orangejuicer · 06/03/2021 07:27

Caerphilly's rates are going up again, this doesn't bode well.

Frazzled2207 · 06/03/2021 08:32

@orangejuicer
These are the latest stats. Caerphilly no longer rising but all rates are so low that rates will rise with just a handful of cases now. Cases in West Devon are up 30% yet it’s only 9 people.

ImAllOut · 06/03/2021 09:02

They really need to do away with this case rate tracker now and move to hospitalisation rates instead, to remind everyone that this past year has been about not overwhelming the NHS, not counting people with flu symptoms.
