The emphasis in these discussions by Dr Hunter suggests "some" restrictions next winter--most likely not a strict lockdown. The concern here is that we may continue to see some outbreaks among the unvaccinated. Just wondering how much appetite there is likely to be for this. I find it hard to muster much motivation about protecting those who have chosen to refuse the vaccine. On the other hand, we have to consider those who are not able to have the vaccine and may be made very ill from it.

Barely anything has been proven. All just theories

The world might be flat! Barely anything has been proven!

FloconDeNeige · 06/02/2021 13:02

🤣 At the absolute mind-blowing idiocy on display here today. “The most stupid quote I’ve ever read” 🤣 Good God, you’re really not worth bothering with.

I’m a scientist myself, so the joke really isn’t on me.

inquietant · 06/02/2021 13:07

What astounds me most is not so much the ignorance - there have always been people who are less informed/more informed - but the pride people take in being totally wrong. I get plenty of things wrong - but I try not to parade my errors!

FloconDeNeige · 06/02/2021 13:21

@inquietant

Absolutely! Et c’est inquiétant !

Againstmachine · 06/02/2021 14:31

You are the one telling people to shut up, calling them idiots ect when they call you out that the quote is rubbish.

A scientist eh Hmm

inquietant · 06/02/2021 14:37

when they call you out that the quote is rubbish but they're not calling anything out, they are disagreeing from a position of lack of understanding.

Againstmachine · 06/02/2021 14:41

but they're not calling anything out, they are disagreeing from a position of lack of understanding.

Not really people have said why they disagree with the quote and why it doesn't make sense.

My point is - their disagreement comes from the fact they don't understand.

The quote does make sense!

FloconDeNeige · 06/02/2021 15:30

The quote makes absolute sense!

Unbelievable that people are attempting to say that one of our greatest modern minds is ‘wrong’. Neil deGrasse Tyson is one of the world’s most reputable and well-respected scientists. He holds no less than 20 (20!) honorary doctorates in recognition of his work (he obviously holds an actual doctorate too).

But yeah, he’s talking rubbish and a handful of keyboard warriors who didn’t even get a double science GCSE, know better. Obviously. We really are in a post-truth age aren’t we.

Also, I’m pretty certain that I’ll be banned from here for daring to speak anything that’s anti vaccination but if there’s anyone half sane in here- this is for you....

Everyone i know that’s refused the vaccine (not those who can’t for medical reasons) does not want “protection”. That’s pretty obvious! So this whole debate is just a made up story to whip up more hysteria.

Refuse vaccine = not scared of Corona, want the World to get on with life as normal.

I’m pretty sure you’ll all come on here to say that we shouldn’t be treated by the nhs then etc etc.

I can’t speak for the others but if I could sign a bit of paper saying I will never have any treatment for Corona I’d sign it in a heartbeat!

But what about the people you potentially pass it on to and the risk to their lives? You don’t want it, you stay in. You stay away from social settings, the workplace etc. Your right to swing your fist ends where my nose begins.
Againstmachine · 06/02/2021 15:45

Why don't you explain then as you haven't yet, if you want to say science stays the same and our understanding of it changes that's different, you shouldn't be telling people to STFU.

I think though there is an exasperation at opinions borne of ignorance.

It is a person's job to educate themselves, people are entitled to simply say - you're wrong.

Againstmachine · 06/02/2021 16:19

Yep because it's easier to insult people instead.

It's not about easier.

It's about this is a chat forum, not every comment has to be a lesson. I personally don't tell people to shut up, but I do Hmm or Confused or Grin at times.

Not going too well for all of you lot over on this thread is it!? Which is really weird considering you seem to think you speak for all of the people.

Considering this is a site that people turn to when they have anxieties over something or another I’d say your chances of getting a result heavily weighted towards pinning every down for vaccination were pretty high. Yet still the dominant answer is No restrictions
😊

Might chance it and book myself a summer holiday 😏
