@CureCovid

I went to Asda. Met someone. Had a chat. They pissed me off. I went home and got drunk. Then I wrote an illegible post on Mumsnet. I went to bed. When I woke up I was a bit embarrassed.
But did they shake your world?

Think hard now

I can't remember! Must have had more than I thought Confused

FlibbertyGiblets · 31/01/2021 22:07

Or may be the OP is stressed because they home ed their children as no suitable school place for their child with SEN and their husband is a right dodgy geezer and frankly it has been a veeerrrry long month? And a bit of ranting on here (incoherent or not) might be helpful to her?
I dunno but I don't like the pile-on.

minion1234 · 31/01/2021 22:09

I'm an nhs nurse, I do work from home maybe once or twice week. I response to the needs of the patients and I'm often called out on emergency's to their home! I could not do this with the children here. So whilst I'm not in the office that day I am working from home but not always at home!

HibernatingTill2030 · 31/01/2021 22:09

She may well be on the phone all day to patients or in essential meetings and not need kids making noise and demanding her attention all the time.

I think the Tesco shop included quite a lot of wine.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 31/01/2021 22:12

I can assure you I am far from jealous. Why would I be? I am "entitled" (appropriate word that!) to a place and have chosen not to use it. Because it's the right thing to do.

I am doing my bit in keeping my child out of school.

Do you think the teachers are saying to each other "well they're entitled to a school place so why not use it?!" I highly doubt it.

The teachers I know (confirmed by emails we have received from the school) are desperate for people to keep their children home if they possibly can. They are as worried for their health now as they were in December.

Indecisive12 · 31/01/2021 22:12

I can work from home as NHS however much of my day is 1-2 hour confidential meetings or 1 hour confidential consultations. If my DH was not home I would not be able to have the children home whilst I worked.

MaxNormal · 31/01/2021 22:13

Your world is easily shaken.

Indecisive12 · 31/01/2021 22:13

I thought this was going to be a life changing love story by the way so am furious at the OP for luring me in with false promises.

beela · 31/01/2021 22:14

The guidelines say one key worker parent entitles the child to a place at school. It doesn't specify where the key worker has to be working.

If you don't like it then maybe take it up with the government? I'm so fed up of everyone making up their own additions to the rules and then judging people for not following them.

Changemaname1 · 31/01/2021 22:15

Did your children not go back in September with everyone else?

Smartiepants79 · 31/01/2021 22:18

She’s a key worker, entitled to a school place for her child. This is not your business. Unless you know a lot more about her job than you’ve told us then I really can’t see the problem.
If you are an NHS worker and can’t do your job and look after your kids effectively then send them to school.
I can’t get worked up about this.
I can’t be doing with the martyrdom.
I’m a teacher with 2 primary age kids.
I’ve managed to sort out a system that means they’ve stayed at home.
I’m not giving myself a medal and if I needed them to they’d be in school like a shot.

lyralalala · 31/01/2021 22:19

@Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady

Give over! Not all key workers need to go into their workplace to do their jobs you know

Then they shouldn't take up a school place.

I am a key worker, OH is a key worker. Our child is not in school because we are working from home. It's actually very very simple

It's not remotely that simple

Some people can't work from home with their kids there as it would be completely inappropriate.

A social worker having meetings about a child who has been abused for example.

Or a counsellor. Can't say to someone who is talking about their suicidal thoughts or their rape experience "can you just hold that thought a sec while I go put another DVD on for my kid".

Sweettea1 · 31/01/2021 22:19

If your at home working or not your kids should be at HOME. No wonder all the schools have over 50% of kids in when people keep taking the p##s. Might aswell open them back up atleast that way all children get some education. Wouldn't surprise me if most of these parents now sending there children in were crying out that the schools should close in first place. Whole thing is a joke.

OhDear2200 · 31/01/2021 22:19

Seriously what is it with MN tonight?

Is it because it’s the last day of the month? Is there a full moon?

mootymoo · 31/01/2021 22:20

@secrettwitcher schools were back in for the autumn term. So you keep your kids out? Are they cev?

And what about the people who do jobs where it would be completely inappropriate to have children around while they work?
