Are there any people that aren't clinically vulnerable/vulnerale taking the virus seriously?

It seems like there aren't enough people thinking "well I'm not vulnerable but I'm taking it all on board and think the pandemic is horrendous".

It's all quite soul destroying, the whole thing isn't it but I'm hoping that people are rising above the relentless boredom and realising that the restrictions are for a good cause.

I know a few people that think everything has been exagerated and before the stricter mask rules came in the other week, refused to wear one.

I'm vulnerable, but not extremely clinically vulnerable, and was wondering how many on here think it's all a waste of time because they don't think they're at risk?

Especially when prior to lockdown, people like that couldn't give a flying fuck that hundreds of thousands of people, including children, actually live like that every day. Who miss school, and social interaction that now is seen as being absolutely critical for mental and physical health, but hitherto people couldn't give a shit about when others couldn't get it.

What difference would it have made if randomers on MN 'gave a shit' about it though?

MotherForker · 25/01/2021 16:51

@Victoriacres I've had covid, and had breathing issues and chest pain for 6 months afterwards. Am I allowed to hate it now?

Victoriacres · 25/01/2021 17:49

@Fembot123 yeah everybody gave a shit so much they voted for more f***g austerity year after year, more inequality and more inadequate investment mainly in the north. Gave the most inadequate manipulative granny selling party another chance to trim the state of any kind of responsibility toward its population and yeah I’m talking shite Confused

Victoriacres · 25/01/2021 18:00

Don’t actually understand what you are getting at @Fembot123 ?

Lol so explain why our council has another 40 million of cuts to make this year ? Already closed 6 out of 15 libraries in our town for example, or why poorer northern towns in relative terms were hit harder than wealthy southern ones. It’s alright moaning about ‘poor’ people suffering under lockdown, funny but they already were beforehand Confused. It’s not new...

DumpedWife · 25/01/2021 18:09

I think alot of people have had enough and he'll of alot of people can't seem to grasp the new variant is a whole lot more contagious and have not adapted their behaviour accordingly.
I always try to observe the 2m rule. Have done since the start. There are times when it's not possible such as standing in the road in front of a bus isn't a safe option.

I've been on a walk again today. Direct from home as per the rules to a beauty spot 3 miles away down a dead end country lane.
40 cars passed me full of families with kids, gigs and bikes on the back. Yes I counted because every time they passed me on the very tiny country lane I had to stop and moreless climb into a hedge. Hiw many if thise vehicle's were making essential journeys??
More if a problem were the runners that ran directly up behind me and skimmed my arm as they ran past. Why?? Yes it's narrow. Yes you can't get the full 2m away, but you were running up behind me. I didn't see you to m9ve myself. I was already on one side of the lane. You could have made some space but no. This happened 3 or 4 times on my walk today.
Then the family groups of 4 adults and 6 kids with 3 dogs. I'll assume they do live together but none if them moved out the way or got into single file to maximise tgexsoace between us. I stopped in an opening to let them pass but they stayed 5 people abreast and let their novice bike rides kid ride it's nike wireless right at me.
I moved out the way of every person I could today. Mostly no one else even attempted to.
It's cold, I can see the steam of my breath, other peoples and how it floats and hangs in the air. Because its cold and not breezy, it hangs at head height for around a minute.
With this new variant that could be Covid droplets just hanging in the air.
I'm sick to death if people saying stay home. Don't go out if your that paranoid. It's minimal risk outside.

I'm happy to move out the way. I appreciate 2m isn't always possible but it seems few people give the same respect back. They see me stop, pause, cross the road, stand in a gap to maximise the space but still walk 3 or 4 people abreast, even when they say thank you to me.

I just think done people just don't get it. They just don't get this new variant is contagious as fuck even outside.

‘Lol’ You’re just arguing with thin air! I didn’t say any of the things you are shouting about nor did I vote Tory.

Is it? I’m not arguing here but genuinely asking. We’ve got lots of space around here luckily but there are areas like the canal that I tend to avoid as it gets totally rammed.
Idontbelieveit12 · 25/01/2021 18:25

I am taking it seriously. I am scared! Lockdown is awful, it’s really horrible. But for me my mental health is suffering more from seeing people not following the rules etc than lockdown.

Victoriacres · 25/01/2021 18:27

@Fembot123 don’t actually know what your issue is with my comments. 80 seat majority for a party that isn’t exactly full of people supporting the NHS ie hunt, raab. And research re north/south structural inequalities and disparities in investment, effects of austerity are well documented.

Fembot123 · 25/01/2021 18:31

You are directing them in the wrong place that’s why, they aren’t relevant to anything I’ve said and it seems like you just want to rant at someone. Perhaps stop tagging me ☺️

Victoriacres · 25/01/2021 18:45

Which is the right place to direct them ? And I tag you because you keep pulling me up Grin

GabriellaMontez · 25/01/2021 18:49

No its not.

CocoPark · 25/01/2021 18:51

I mostly obey the rules, but only because there's no other choice.

If it were up to me I'd just live my life normally, no question.

God knows! I’ve forgotten what we were originally arguing about anyway 😂

This is what I wanted clarity on, I can’t find anything to suggest whether this is true or not

Goodness knows how people whose loved ones have died feel

I'll tell you. My mum died of the plague March 31st. It was devastating, but so is what this shitshow has done to many people's MH. Do I feel angry that people have had enough? Not at all, in fact I'm one of them. The sooner we can go back to living the better, because, right now, coping with her death (and that of my dad in November), with everything lockdown entails is fucking shit.

I am taking certain things VERY seriously:

  • The huge detriment to our mental health.
  • The huge impending recession and unemployment: Saint Boris is keeping very quiet about it, isn't he?
  • The fact that we are sheepwalking sleepwalking into a highly oppressive regime, and being cunningly conditioned to accept it as permanent. (I don't mean lockdown itself, but the idea that the government can spring it on us at ANY TIME, on their whim, supposedly in the name of health.)
  • The fact that the government are FUCKING LYING TO US every step of the way, to control our behaviour. We should be rioting about this manipulation alone. The next government will have an absolute field day with this, because it will be accepted as "normal".

This is not democracy. This is fucking TYRANNY. I am much more worried about that than I am about the virus. As for those of us who are cynical in the face of a "deadly virus": this cynicism has been bred from a diet of constant lies, scaremongering, crying wolf, and politicians doing exactly what they want, with impunity. I've barely trusted any government since Tony Blair got away with his illegal war, and now Saint Boris has GUARANTEED that I will never trust any government, EVER AGAIN, with anything.

If only our glorious leader, Saint Boris, the patron saint of clowns and lies, were taking some of these concerns seriously, and talking about them, then I might have a shred of respect for the "seriousness" of the virus; but he and his merry men clearly have no respect whatsoever for the plebs who pay his wages.

All these quotation marks.... are you saying you don’t think there is a deadly virus? Do you think doctors and nurses are lying to everyone?

The mind boggles. Genuinely think this COVID denying is a mental health issue.

nolovelost · 25/01/2021 19:48

@Idontbelieveit12 there is no point arguing with people who have a mindset like that.
