For all your vaccine news, treatment development stories and other positive things to make you feel there is hope for the future!
Good news only please!

Useful websites we are referring to a lot:

Government daily statistics

Worldometer for international case number comparisons

Covid Messenger for local authority figures, thanks to LittleOwl for all her hard work!

OurWorldInData international vaccination figures

Omnicalculator vaccine queue calculator NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

There will definitely be puffins, I just had to concentrate very hard to do the links and I forgot the miniature horses, puffins etc!

Just heard that Derby Arena near us is being upgraded to a mass vaccination hub from Monday. If this is happening across the country, how many more doses a day are we going to be up to by Friday?!

Checking in. Can't believe how fast the last one filled up. At least it shows how much good news there is then!

On a positive vaccine note, DH's 75 year old Grandad had his on Wednesday. Exciting times!

tobee · 23/01/2021 20:18

Thanks for the thread. Links are v helpful.

I've been really really struggling lately with the mixed messages so the analysis of what's going on towards the end of the last thread was really helpful. I get v stressed if things don't seem to make sense. Thanks all

Spiratedaway · 23/01/2021 20:54

I volunteered at a vaccine centre today 😀

Doodlepip23 · 23/01/2021 20:58

Here for some positivity Smile My dad had his first vaccination on Friday. My local surgery managed about 300 jabs in one day - great effort!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/01/2021 20:58

Well done Spiratedaway. What was it like? I’m sure it must be a lovely atmosphere.

OrangeBananaFish · 23/01/2021 20:59

Just marking place again.

Joining in, thanks Countess. This thread is keeping me sane.

Parking up on the new thread - thanks for the continued good news Smile

Sevensilverrings · 23/01/2021 21:05

I’m not sure if you want this sort of regional news, but here goes...
Devon has, as of today, vaccinated about 100000 people, out of an over 18 population of about 650000. I know it sits about middle of the league table of areas, so I imagine this is about typical? If so, that’s amazing.
First two Devon mass vaccination sites to open this week, so not even hit its stride properly yet. Again, I think that’s the same for many areas.

Peggyslantern · 23/01/2021 21:06

Just placemarking! Our local GP centre did masses of vaccinations today. There was a thread on the local FB group so full of people keen to volunteer, they couldn't use everyone, and then there was another thread of people reporting they'd had their jab and saying how happy they were. It was lovely to see. That's pretty much all over 80's done locally now, bar about 10 I think!
