What tougher measures will we face?

Did she/police admit that the Guidance expressly states that you can travel a short distance for exercise?

Or are they still pretending there is a law that says you can't? And wasting police resources enforcing this non-existent law, in a way that is actually contrary to the actual Guidance?

MintyMabel · 21/01/2021 18:21

He doesn't tear anyone apart. He just makes a tit of himself on a daily basis by being the most amateurish 'interviewer' on telly. Morgan seems to think he's like Paxman or Andrew Neil when in fact his hysteria shouty style of questioning is more like something off Jezza Kyle. Susanna Reid sitting there like a nodding dog, what a pair of egotistical prats.

Agreed. It is sickening to see people fawning over him for “holding the government to account” when he is just the same blustering fool he has always been. Finding the trigger button for populist outrage is his MO, Covid has been handed to him on a plate. If he is so keen to hold failing governments to account, why doesn’t he do the same when he interviewed sturgeon instead of licking her arse. Any half decent journalist would realise there is plenty to “hold her to account” for.

friedafinn · 21/01/2021 18:22

@Lorieandrews

Holy shit

What’s in now is sobering

Drs saying they can’t cope. Not enough staff. The hospital staff look like they are just broken.

Anybody with an ounce of common sense would have been able to predict that nearly a year ago, if that's what she is saying then the horse has bolted and is somewhere approaching the other side of the world by now. Ditto schools.
MintyMabel · 21/01/2021 18:26

New fines will apply to any gathering of more than 15 people in homes

Super, party for 14 at mine!

Obviously not, but why make it over 15 people?

lljkk · 21/01/2021 18:26

Pretty funny and sign that the press conference was a wet squib that MNers started talking EastEnders almost as soon as it started.

Was this appearance PP's penance for her political blunder by bragging about in public her authoritarian instincts back in March 2020?

I mean.. who knew? Shocker. Hmm Grin

Sostenueto · 21/01/2021 18:31

:13DfEisashambles

I’m actually genuinely curious about this. Do some people think the reported test result are the real figures for infections

You are not the only one thinks this. I have feeling in the pit of my stomach that they are so busy with vaccinations and hospitals near to collapse that actually not so many people are getting Covid tests. I need to delve to see what actual figures tested for each day is if it is published that is.

Malbecky · 21/01/2021 18:32

I was confused by the bullet proof summary in the newsroom, regarding fines.

It looked as though anything under 15, in terms of people gathering, wouldn't receive a fine 🤔 but those over, would.

Surely the message should be that any household mixing right now (excluding bubbles) would be risking a fine.

Sostenueto · 21/01/2021 18:33

New fines will apply to any gathering of more than 15 people in homes

Yep I thought same so 14 people won't get 800 quid fine then? Why did they not say anyone found in anyone else's house that are not part of a support bubble get fined 10,000 quid?

Livelovebehappy · 21/01/2021 18:34

Figures are falling, but I don’t think restrictions can be eased until all over 60s and the vulnerable have been fully vaccinated. What would be the point otherwise? It seems stupid people trying to pin him down to a date - it’s like how longs a piece of string? The government have learnt that it’s not a good idea to over promise.

Bluewavescrashing · 21/01/2021 18:35

Great, so now people will be planning parties at the weekend for 14 people. FFS!

Malbecky · 21/01/2021 18:39

I thought maybe I'd misinterpreted, but yes, that's exactly what I thought @Bluewavescrashing.

Sostenueto · 21/01/2021 18:41

It's absolutely shameful that some stupid people are still continuing to be idiots going to gatherings, not wearing masks and now trying to skip the queue to get vaccines. What will it take it to make people realise that this isn't a joke? Over 90,000 people have lost their lives to this.

The actual figure is closer if not over 100,000 being as they knocked off over 5000 in June when they changed counting criteria to dying within 28 days of a positive test. Add to that over 90,000+ excess deaths and counting for those dying of other conditions either untreated or not treated in time and cancer patients not even starting their treatment the true figure really is together 200,000. That's right get your head's around that figure 200,000.

caspersmagicaljourney · 21/01/2021 18:45

I'd be weeping into my gin if I were her after Piers Morgan tore her apart yesterday morning

I don't think she's bothered TBH. She's made of tough stuff is Priti

itsgettingweird · 21/01/2021 18:46

And her smugness Mac smugness was almost sickening about how airports are fined if checking isn't carried out properly.

Have the government funded this properly so the airports can meet the requirements forced upon them?

Sostenueto · 21/01/2021 18:48

Eusashambles here's your answer. The figures tested are down by 126, 515.

itsgettingweird · 21/01/2021 18:50

What was it that was said about people queue jumping vaccines?

How is that even possible and what's happening.

QueenoftheAir · 21/01/2021 18:51

Her reply was to talk about how schools have covid secure measures

Like fuck they are. Schools are not COVID secure, as teachers well know. And have been telling us.

Yohoheaveho · 21/01/2021 18:51

They're talking to History, not to us
yup, b/c we dont matter, all that matters is that they come out of it looking good, or at the very least manage to cover their arses

Sostenueto · 21/01/2021 18:52

Here's a graph testing going down a bit.

I know. I work in a special school. They want those open as normal even though transmission/infection for those in them is 2 times higher than general population.
Nhsisfucked · 21/01/2021 19:03

@itsgettingweird where we are the link that nhs staff were sent to get their vaccines booked electronically got forwarded on by complete morons and people used it left right and centre to get there vaccination booked into one of the clinics for staff! Disgusting behaviour!!! 😡😡 it worked as it was the same system you use to book your blood test etc!! They have started checking now thankfully now they know! I honestly can’t get my head around it!

I know this was early on in the post but, I totally agree. It’s toe curling and the fact he thinks it’s hard hitting journalism just hi lights his ignorance.

@MaxNormal

Sorry for being pedantic but it's borders not boarders.
Thank you! That has been driving me potty lately!
itsgettingweird · 21/01/2021 19:10

Re the testing being down I've just checked the data dashboard.

Tests are down 3.1% and cases down 23.6%.

So it looks like the test drop is expected drop alongside less people needing tests and cases are down by a far larger %.

I can't find the positivity rate if anyone has a link to that?
