As the title says. If someone has breach the covid restrictions that bad that they receive a notice and fine from police then why don't we have a system in which their name is recorded on some sort of database NHS etc and they are refused treatment for covid. This would free up the beds and care for those that did follow lockdown rules.
I am talking about the people constantly having house parties, going to work when they know they are positive etc.
This would probably be more of a deterrent than a fine.

@Peppafrig

What would we do with these people If they have kids and they get into serious trouble after catching Covid

Maybe they should think before breaking the rules?

Silvergreen · 10/01/2021 07:20

A totally fuckwitted idea that would degrade the very fabric of civil society.

squeezeapplesmakejuice · 10/01/2021 07:27

Not going to happen....
They may be stupid but deserve medical help if they need it

Don’t be fucking ridiculous

hopefulhalf · 10/01/2021 07:41

What next, refusing smokers lung cancer treatment? Refusing alcoholics liver transplants?

Very few alcoholics recieve liver transplants.

ivfbeenbusy · 10/01/2021 07:45

Fair enough

But then if you are obese which is well
Known to make you at greater risk should you also be on a database and denied treatment? Since you've had 9 months to get yourself healthy and in best possible shape to protect yourself and all?

Should we all wear proximity readers and if breach the 2m rule go on the database too?

What about those taking the piss at the moment and using a very grey interpretation of the "key worker" rule to keep sending their kids to school even though they are stay at home parents?

Where does it stop?

The rules sometimes aren't very clear and pretty sure 99% of us have knowingly/unknowingly broken them in the last 9 months?

Peppafrig · 10/01/2021 08:00

@trulydelicious oh so innocent children are responsible behave. You know how ridiculous you sound .

Wherediditgo · 10/01/2021 08:13

Let’s stop people who drive receiving treatment if they’re involved in a car accident?

Or how about refusing people treatment for anything unless they lead a completely clean lifestyle, don’t drink or smoke, exercise regularly and eat twenty portions of fruit and veg a day?

Wherediditgo · 10/01/2021 08:14

@trulydelicious

I don't agree with your idea OP, however

@newaroundhere2

shows a lack of compassion for fellow humans

Are rule breakers showing any compassion for those that will die due to their selfishness?

@itsgettingweird

Absolutely not because the ethical implications are scarily dangerous

Where's the ethics of rule breakers?

Have you ever heard the phrase ‘two wrongs don’t make a right’ ?

This can’t be serious. It’s just shameful to go to this extreme punitive level. Yes. Let’s jist let people die. Considering the Average age of someone who dies from it is about 82, let’s jist leave our elderly dying all around the country.

Great plan.

peak2021 · 10/01/2021 08:48

Magistrates courts can sit behind screens, and people could choose to join via a video link.

I would not deny medical treatment, but have people face a court (so they can argue mitigating circumstances or a genuine exception if it really does apply) and penalties would not be a fine other than costs of the court. Start putting points on people's driving licences for unnecessary trips, or take away passports for a couple of years.

Mumski45 · 10/01/2021 09:24

Irrespective of any legal and humanitarian issues it is not the people who broke the rules who are likely to fill up the hospital beds but the people who they pass it on to.

PrincessBuggerPants · 10/01/2021 09:29

You really think the NHS has the IT capabilities for this?
