As the title says. If someone has breach the covid restrictions that bad that they receive a notice and fine from police then why don't we have a system in which their name is recorded on some sort of database NHS etc and they are refused treatment for covid. This would free up the beds and care for those that did follow lockdown rules.
I am talking about the people constantly having house parties, going to work when they know they are positive etc.
This would probably be more of a deterrent than a fine.

OP posts:

I was a student ODP and one of my mentors told me about the time they
treated one of the Kray twins... still treated them with the utmost respect without morals getting in the way, like any NHS staff should. NHS treatment is about medical need, not about what conspiracy theories you are into or what laws you break. When you are on the operating table (or in A&E) you are equal to everyone else.

SheilaFentiman · 09/01/2021 00:57

Don’t be ridiculous OP

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 09/01/2021 00:57

Okay but only if we can put a black mark on the files of people who talk shite too.

WombOfOnesOwn · 09/01/2021 04:48

Let's hope there are never data collection or access errors that lead to perfectly compliant people being the victims of your eugenics scheme!

ScreamingBeans · 09/01/2021 07:12

Oh fuck off.

ThornAmongstRoses · 09/01/2021 07:38

It’s laughable that someone actually thinks this is ok, it’s ridiculous.

Thankfully, as part of their nature, medical staff don’t actually want people to die so they will of course provide treatment to anyone who needs it.

applesandoranges221 · 09/01/2021 10:06

To be clear, if I went on this list OP I could have my life back as long as I promised not to take up NHS time if I get COVID?

Excellent, where do I sign up?

AnnaForbes · 09/01/2021 10:09

Horrendous. What a dark path some people want to follow. This is how the holocaust was able to happen.

RosaBaby2 · 09/01/2021 10:12

Stupid is as stupid does.

FlatFace · 09/01/2021 10:15

Terrible idea. What next, refusing alcoholics liver transplants?

PinkTonic · 09/01/2021 10:31

@Haffiana

I wonder if OP's post counts as a hate crime?

She should be put on a database.

Does saying only X number of people under 60 with no ‘underlying’ conditions count as a hate crime? What about the countless posters saying lock up the old and vulnerable while ‘the rest of us’ get on with our lives, who are now saying lock up the old and vulnerable while ‘the rest of us’ get the vaccine? Should they be put on a database? I’m sure MN could help with that. I don’t agree with the OP but your response is hardly appropriate.
TasslesandFringes · 09/01/2021 10:36

‘Eve

How about those who voted Tory and supported underfunding of NHS for how many years , and didn't support pay rises to nurses and give PPE millions to mates to supply nothing don't get treatment?

Lets not treat the 25k people in Uxbridge who voted for Boris ?’

Yep! How about we take this further and also deny treatment to those who have cocked up other areas of the pandemic response... so that would include the person who approved the general pandemic response plan, the group approving PPE contracts, Test & Trace management, education managers who cocked up Homeschooling - from March 2020; the person who didn’t think to bulk order laptops being that schools we’re bound to be closed again; that’s going to massively increase transmission; the individual sanctioning mass pub re-opening whilst children were still being homeschooled... I could go on.

These poor decisions have had a huge effect on feeling the pandemic. I’d wager way more impactful than someone being forced into the office needlessly by crap bosses ...

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 09/01/2021 10:37

Yes- this is a totes great idea and wouldnt make the NHS open to law suits at ALL would it?

Good grief, maybe there should be tax on stupidity too.......

TheABC · 09/01/2021 10:54

People are selfish fuckers. It's always been a thing and the reason why you get littering, NHS drunk tanks and corrupt Ministers. I have always found the "shy Tory" phenomenon interesting for that reason; why not be proud of being a majority that voted in the present government?

Anyway, from a selfish viewpoint I don't want healthcare exclusions; it always backfires at a national level with a sicker, more infectious population. The anti-vaxx debate around the MMR is a case in point.

On the plus side, people who are going out, shedding Covid-19 and/or engaging in risky behaviour are giving themselves a free entry to the Darwin Awards.

PurpleHoodie · 09/01/2021 16:08

TrialOfStyle

I see OP dropped the bomb and ran.

Yeah. Probably does it on loads of forums. Sad fucker.

vodkaredbullgirl · 09/01/2021 16:19

Nice to see that the OP has come back as usual Hmm

MerciSeat · 09/01/2021 16:26

I for one am shocked to the core that OP hasn't returned.

confuseddotcom090 · 09/01/2021 19:49

Great idea. Also refuse to treat the overweight. And people who aren't taking vitamin D supplements. Their risky behaviours are so selfish. Why should we treat them?

Hmm
KihoBebiluPute · 09/01/2021 23:20

An excellent article addressing this point in the Washington Post

HazeyJaneII · 09/01/2021 23:22

Don't be so bloody daft.

LastTrainEast · 09/01/2021 23:42

Of course you can't actually do it, but can we set it up so they think we will? Grin

Not that a threat would help with the stupid anyway. if they understood cause and effect and consequences they wouldn't be acting that way. it's like arguing with a pigeon.

theThreeofWeevils · 10/01/2021 03:50

What next, refusing alcoholics liver transplants?
Well, that seems sensible to me, but there you go.
The OP's idea is a fine one: but without a sound plan for implementation it isn't worth much. Rather like my view on transplants.

vodkaredbullgirl · 10/01/2021 03:53

Still not come back Jess

Peppafrig · 10/01/2021 06:40

What would we do with these people If they have kids and they get into serious trouble after catching Covid ? Sorry wee Chloe you have to watch your Mum die in the house and become an orphan . What a ridiculous idea.

trulydelicious · 10/01/2021 07:02

I don't agree with your idea OP, however

@newaroundhere2

shows a lack of compassion for fellow humans

Are rule breakers showing any compassion for those that will die due to their selfishness?

@itsgettingweird

Absolutely not because the ethical implications are scarily dangerous

Where's the ethics of rule breakers?
