As the title says. If someone has breach the covid restrictions that bad that they receive a notice and fine from police then why don't we have a system in which their name is recorded on some sort of database NHS etc and they are refused treatment for covid. This would free up the beds and care for those that did follow lockdown rules.
I am talking about the people constantly having house parties, going to work when they know they are positive etc.
This would probably be more of a deterrent than a fine.

No because thats murder

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2021 09:01

@InterfectoremVulpes

Ridiculous notion aside, I like the way it will just be a case of setting up 'some kind of database as if they're just going to give Doris in admin a call and ask her to knock up an excel spreadsheet to keep track of the names 🙄
When I read that it would be put 'on file' I was imagining proper paper filing and metal cabinets. Doris in Admin would have some sort of stamp and ink pad situation. Grin
canigooutyet · 08/01/2021 09:03

In this nasty world of yours what about none CV related illnesses? Ban them as well?
Might as well put the same restrictions on asmatics living in the city.

How did you ever think that this would be ok without thinking about the very slippery slope this puts everyone in.

No thanks. Not a county I want to live in that denies medical treatment.

wellthatsunusual · 08/01/2021 09:05

I'm visualising Doris in admin as Roz from Monsters Inc

wellthatsunusual · 08/01/2021 09:07

Also, the NHS has such a stellar history of successful IT project implementation, and of doctors having plenty of time to read files that clearly nothing could go wrong...

borntohula · 08/01/2021 09:07

Also, bring back hanging.

Forgetmenot157 · 08/01/2021 09:08

So you are essentially condemming someone to possible death for going for excersize more than once?.... Hmmm

Jrobhatch29 · 08/01/2021 09:08

Ffs

HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 08/01/2021 09:08

No thank you Kim.

letsmakethishappen · 08/01/2021 09:09

Impossible in the UK. HCPs have a duty of care

FlibbertyGiblets · 08/01/2021 09:11

Errrr no. And OP needs to give their head a wobble.

pinbinpin · 08/01/2021 09:11

no body should be refused emergency medicalncare. What a stupid idea.

The police should deal with them, with fines.

Porcupineintherough · 08/01/2021 09:11

It wouldnt work as it would be seen by many as carte blanche to go off and resume normal life, taking the gamble that if they get sick they eont need treatment. A pretty good gamble if you are 20 but what about all the older or more vulnerable people they may then infect.

ClangingChimesofDoom · 08/01/2021 09:11

OP! You absolute psycho Grin Hope you are being facetious!

PurpleHoodie · 08/01/2021 09:11

So. Much. Stupid.

TheDailyCarbunkle · 08/01/2021 09:13

Lots of people agree with you. The Nazis, for example, also believed that the provision of basic human rights like healthcare should be based on whether a person 'deserved' them or not. You find yourself in very good company OP.

Porcupineintherough · 08/01/2021 09:13

@pinbinpin to be fair, as the hospitals reach capacity, people will be refused emergency medical care. Or taken into hospitals that are then unable to offer an adequate level of care as there just aren't the staff.

Sweetpotatoaddict · 08/01/2021 09:15

Well that would be one way of ensuring the NHS is not overwhelmed. Some of the rules are so complex I think I would be hard pushed to find ANYONE who has 100% adhered to them since the start of COVID-19 mitigations. Great job done, nhs not overwhelmed because nobody can use it Hmm

HarrietOh · 08/01/2021 09:15

Even if they did implement this ridiculous idea, it’s likely it’s not the major rule breakers who are the ones likely to end up in hospital anyway. They’re just helping the spread of it instead.

SpnBaby1967 · 08/01/2021 09:15

Oh, OP. This didnt go as you expected did it.

Lets be clear, people who breach covid restrictions are not criminals. There are many reasons why they might do that. It is not for us to judge, that is for the courts to decide.

But, I'm guessing you're one of those neighbours who obsessively curtain twitches.

Can we stop judgy nosey parkers from being treated? If so, I vote to put you front of the queue OP.

SirSamuelVimes · 08/01/2021 09:16

Yeah, alright, I'll take that deal. I'm 37, no health conditions, practically zero chance of needing any Covid related medical intervention. In fact I'm pretty sure I had it in April anyway, it was fine.

I'll sign your bloody waiver and have my life back, please.

vodkaredbullgirl · 08/01/2021 09:17
Hmm
PurpleHoodie · 08/01/2021 09:17

Porcupine

I'm thinking more and more older people would have their DNRs looked into (or the decision taken out of their hands).

Those are just my thoughts however and actual clinicians/hcps here will be in a position to know what is/will be happening.

draughtycatflap · 08/01/2021 09:17

It would cost far too much to administer. Money doesn’t grow on magic money trees you know. What about setting up ‘some sort of crack team’ to go round looking for late night parties and blow their houses up?

newaroundhere2 · 08/01/2021 09:18

I don't think this is fair. If you follow that argument, do we just not provide anyone in prison with healthcare? Do we keep a record of whether you were naughty or nice throughout your life and then decide whether you should be given life-saving treatment based on that?

This is a terrible idea, really barbaric and shows a lack of compassion for fellow humans.
