What actually is wrong with the word 'alas'? I use it and I think you will find that anyone with a wide vocabulary (i.e. well-educated) will use it too.
I don’t use it despite being in possession of both bachelors and masters degrees. It’s pretentious.

I work in a college and having to work from home nearly broke me last time Sad I have bipolar and I don’t think I can do this again. @MNHQ I really think it's time you do something about loudtree they are absolutely scaremongering on every thread they are on, it's not just enough to keep removing their posts, their words could cause serious harm to one or more of your users, I think you have a responsibility here.

My Ddad used to use the words Alas very occassionally and he left school when he was 15! i haven't heard anyone use it in RL for years!

Handhold from me. WFH is hell for some people (I hate it), but try to take each day at a time. Remember you are free to leave the house whenever you need to - there is no limit on the the amount of shopping or exercise you "need" to do.

I agree I think that it's time for LoudTree to get banned. There are people with extremely fragile mental health at the moment and something like that could push them over the edge. It's really malicious.

@AnxiousAlpaca I promise you this will pass, the vaccine rollout is starting in earnest now with the approval of the Oxford vaccine. We're in the thick of it now as it's midwinter and high cases but come spring and more and more people vaccinated everything will start to change for the better.

Any restrictions they are mooting for next winter will likely be minor as it will only be the young and healthy maybe not yet vaccinated so nothing at all like this winter.

My Latin mistress (yes, I’m that old) was given to declaring “Eheu” when handing back homework that was poorly done. She accompanied it with an impressive example of what is now referred to as a Daily Mail sad face. Boris should expand his repertoire with the Latin version from time to time.

I do wish I understood signing. I would love it if the BSL signer was really signing what he thinks of Boris...... I am pretty sure I saw a sequence of signs a while ago that looked like “dickhead liar with an ego the size of St Paul’s dome”
Sadly the signers haven't called him names yet Watch out though for a signer to make a diamond shape with 2 fingers and both thumbs....that's the sign for cunt! haha

Loud tree was telling us yesterday that they have a neighbour who works in construction. And was most out out that he won't request furlough despite her DH and other neighbours asking him and he'd bring covid back to the street.
