So, Boris, Whitty and I think Vallance are doing a press briefing at 5 pm today.
Hope he's ready for some difficult questions!

He did! I thought he was going to combust.
The best reaction was when Hancock thanked Dido for all her hard work with track and trace! His face was a picture, then he turned away and suddenly seemed very interested in the wood panelling on the walls!
I think Kier is taking the opportunity to show himself in total contrast to Boris. He’ll be supportive and take the stance of pulling the country together for the greater good. He’ll also appear articulate, compassionate and generally in complete contrast to our dear leader. He is a very astute man and knows that picking apart Boris’s strategy and trying to score political points isn’t going to go down well at this point. All the same, he is working to show himself as a credible alternative and to make people wonder if he’d be doing a much better job. That’s what I think anyway!

viques · 05/01/2021 15:22

I hope he is going to expand on the vague remarks he made yesterday about providing meals for fsm children and laptops for children to work on at home . Just a reminder Boris, it is ten months since you promised that children who needed laptops for home learning would be provided with them. Ten months .

How many have been provided? Love to know. Suspect it is a pathetically low figure. Another Marcus Rashford is needed to shame this government into doing what they promised.

Maybe he could shed some light onto what on earth are all the exam years supposed to do to get their grades without any actual evidence. Many schools haven’t even done mocks yet. You think last years grades were a disaster, this year is going to be much much worse!

Horsemad · 05/01/2021 16:10
"@likeamillpond asks: WHEN WILL THIS END?
Thank you like, for your question. Alas, I can't answer this, because it depends on the what the next few weeks have instore. However, I know (shakes fist) that will a fair wind, the resolve of the British people we can dig deep, and wrestle this beast to the floor. Which is why, I must, (ruffles hair) implore you all to follow the guidance. And don't forget like, that we have a tough few weeks ahead. But, this time, this time, THIS TIME, (shakes fist) we have 2 vaccines. With our resolve and indominable spirit, together, we can defeat this! Ad astra per aspera!
That concludes today's briefing"
Hahahaha, sitting here LOL!! 😆😆😆

Excellent @SophieB100

Apparently this will be announced tomorrow, although I doubt it will be the complete and final story.
grandmasterstitch · 05/01/2021 16:17

I hope it's about nurseries too. I really feel for parents who have to work I do and I know how fortunate I am to be furloughed but I'm also CEV and can't risk sending DS to preschool. I equally can't afford to pay the fees if he's not going. I feel stuck

Tanith · 05/01/2021 16:53

@grandmasterstitch Talk to the nursery and see if they can come up with an arrangement for you.
I'm a childminder and we're accommodating parents who don't want to risk sending their child, and I think nurseries are also being sympathetic,

farawayplanet · 05/01/2021 16:54

He needs to sort out the shitshow that is the NHS vaccinator recruitment. To call it bureaucratic is the understatement of the century.

Any offers for useless online training that the applicants could complete?

How to Wash your Hands

Health and Safety in the event of Inclement Weather

How to ask someone to roll their sleeve up

How plastics in syringes are synthesised

How to vaccinate someone who celebrated Christmas in 1973

In addition to the personal information required:

Name, address, date of birth etc.

As well as......the name of the midwife who delivered you, her mother's and dog's name, plus dates of birth.

The results of the first mock GCSE Biology you sat

The square footage of your first home

The population of your birth town at the time of your birth

A copy of your last Tesco receipt

AaronPurr · 05/01/2021 17:02

Here we go, and he's not late for once... Is this the real Boris? Shock

chomalungma · 05/01/2021 17:04

Can't he talk properly FFS

MercyBooth · 05/01/2021 17:04

Why the fuck did the BBC got Neil Ferguson on. Wonder if the hypocritical narcissistic cunt will have his married lover over again for a shag this lockdown.

Im sure this will really help with compliance Hmm

PicsInRed · 05/01/2021 17:06

What the fuck is he on about?

GET TO THE POINT MAN

AaronPurr · 05/01/2021 17:06

So from Monday we're having daily updates about how many have been vaccinated?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 05/01/2021 17:07

I don't remember him always being this bad at talking chomalungma.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 05/01/2021 17:08

Chris Witty sublty not mentioning the end of the second lockdown and moving to tiers.

SimonJT · 05/01/2021 17:09

I like how eat out to help out is never ever mentioned.

Dogatetheleftovers · 05/01/2021 17:10

Just read on Sky news that the daily figures are almost 61000 new cases and 830 deaths. So sad, so worrying.

SimonJT · 05/01/2021 17:11

I wonder what the number of deaths will look like 3-4 weeks after xmas day.

chomalungma · 05/01/2021 17:12

He looks like he's aged so much.

MarshaBradyo · 05/01/2021 17:13

Missed some of it but nothing new? Tg for that

SimonJT · 05/01/2021 17:14

I’m still amazed that he manages to say so much yet so little at the same time.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 05/01/2021 17:14

This is a very long way of saying no, we haven't looked at it.

AaronPurr · 05/01/2021 17:14

Next few weeks and months... A possible hint that this could be a longer school closure than 6 weeks?

DuncinToffee · 05/01/2021 17:15

Clap for students next?
