He’s popped his head up with the above...

No explanations, no counter arguments on SAGE’s finding or NEU’s report...

Just send your children to school I’m quite sure they are safe...

He is a bloody joke!!!

I’m SO much disappointed!!!!
I’m still hoping for a miracle..

BiggerBoat1 · 03/01/2021 11:44

Brilliant Boris. Come and work in one for a week then.

BiggerBoat1 · 03/01/2021 11:45

@Kjc39

Statistics released up until December 16, 'Only 377 people under 60 without preexisting conditions have died of COVID in England
So what?

Children can pass it to staff in the school and take it home to their families.
I don't think anyone is saying that children are likely to get very unwell, but there is a very real chance that adults will if schools are kept open.

52andblue · 03/01/2021 11:46

@middleager

It really should sit alongside:

"War is peace.
Freedom is slavery.
Ignorance is strength."

YES! That quotation is sadly apposite right now @middleager

I've also found myself feeling like Alice, after she tumbled down the rabbit hole lately...

HillsBesideTheSea · 03/01/2021 11:48

Ok, Kjc39. So what is the statistic of people under 60 who HAVE pre-existing conditions.
Also what counts as a pre-existing condition in these stats.
How many of those kids have pre-existing conditions or live with people who have pre-existing conditions

If you are going to spit figure outs. Spit all the relevant figures and don't just cherry pick. The picture is bigger than you are making out.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 03/01/2021 11:50

Kjc and even if you accept that figure, the list of underlying conditions is huge. It's of little comfort to those of us with any of those conditions.

TheSunIsStillShining · 03/01/2021 11:51

This is such a joke. Underlying condition could be anything. If my H dies he will have had underlying conditions, because it is important to have allergies on record, but he hasn't popped any anti histamines in 20 years.

If I die I will have had underlying conditions. Regardless of the fact that I have a chronic condition that is not life shortening and am in remission.

Unless you can sort the data into meaningful categories, it's useless and can only be used for propaganda.
Exactly what this gov is doing.

vera99 · 03/01/2021 11:52

ETON STILL CLOSED. Keep repeating that don't watch his lips (they are always lying) watch the actions of the man who burnt 50 quis notes in from of a homeless man at University. Wot larks. The day I trust this twat is the day hell freezes over.

HotPenguin · 03/01/2021 11:54

Watch again in that interview how Boris said schools are safe for children and for teachers. When he says "for children" he says it very clearly. When he says "for teachers" he mumbles it really quickly. Classic sign that he knows what he's saying is untrue.

vera99 · 03/01/2021 11:58

ETON STILL CLOSED - never forget that and pass it on. It's all you need to know not the shit that comes out from his mouth,.

madroid · 03/01/2021 11:58

@Panickingpavlova

I absolutely agree, I was only thinking this morning - schools going back is a kind of experiment.

I think they are giving it until 11 Jan to see what happens to the data after a week of kids going back in state schools.

We are one giant petri dish and hard luck on those who lose their lives as a result. (Not to mention the NHS staff left trying to cope and decide who gets treatment).

NanaRant · 03/01/2021 12:00

@Kjc39

What is wrong will you all? It’s like common sense has gone out of the window. Covid has become a sort of madness. Most cases in school have not included symptoms. It’s very unlikely that it can be spread without symptoms. Stay calm!
Wow! How do you know "It’s very unlikely that it can be spread without symptoms"? This statement is completely false. We are told to sanitise, clean surfaces, touch points, etc to avoid the spread of the virus. Do you think COVID 19 differentiates between symptomatic and asymptomatic hosts? COVID Positive but no symptoms = very unlikely no spread? Casually putting across such statements as fact is actually dangerous.
madroid · 03/01/2021 12:01

@vera99 Eton wasn't due to go back until 11 Jan ?

NanaRant · 03/01/2021 12:01

*to spread

MrsHamlet · 03/01/2021 12:03

I don’t think I ever bothered to write learning objectives on the board or in books though. That seemed pointless. I just told them
If it's not on the board, how will they learn it??? 🤣

madroid · 03/01/2021 12:04

@NanaRant the virus lives in your mouth and throat. If you're asymptomatic it just means you are very very fortunate and your immune system is coping and you are not ill.
It doesn't mean you can't spread the virus as you breathe and speak.

vera99 · 03/01/2021 12:04

The red wall put the toffs in charge and they crawl and simper to their tunes. They can't believe their luck oh and Jeremy Corbyn. They are laughing at us from their gilded cages and money stuffed chumocracy.

Yes he did and shows he didn't believe it. One thing he did say that I've not heard the government admit is the risk is of children being infected and then taking it to their homes/community. I've not watched it again so not sure of his exact words.
wizzbangfizz · 03/01/2021 12:12

Voice of sanity @Kjc39 - when people are "hoping for a miracle" that schools will be shut we really have fallen off a cliff edge. I literally know not one person outside of the madness that is mumsnet that wants the schools to close. Those that want to should keep them off - maybe they can't indefinitely but most can surely make up a period of 2 week isolation - that way they are happy and those of us that want the children in school are also happy.

The worst thing about C-19 is that it can be spread asymptomatically. By the time you have symptoms and isolate you will have already spread it unknowingly. This is a basic fact which is now well understood.
Kjc39 · 03/01/2021 12:18

52andblue

There is no evidence that it can be spread if you have no symptoms.

Cycles are not standardised in this country. 40 is considered the Max but labs don’t have to declare how many cycles.

@highlandcoo

Today's Andrew Marr interview reminded me of Just a Minute with Boris Johnson keeping talking and talking maniacally in an attempt to prevent Andrew Marr from asking another question.

And did anyone see the slight smirk on his face throughout? I think for him, unbelievably, this still is in some respects a game.

Unspeakable as our PM at this time of crisis.

Yes it IS unspeakable that we have Johnson in charge of C-19 as well as Brexit - what a double whammy we face, with only him 'in charge'. 'Cometh the hour' but we do not have the 'man' we need.

I do not know if he could be clinically diagnosed as a Narcissist but he certainly displays traits. I wonder if he realises that the public are beginning to think: 'ok, Boris does a presser, makes a statement, we should assume the exact opposite will be announced sometime soon'? I wonder how many in the Conservative Party realise what a liability he is becoming? I guess they are banking on the fact the GE is a long way away and they'll have had someone else in for a long time by then (BJ will be gone by late spring, for 'health reasons' imo)

Piggywaspushed · 03/01/2021 12:20

Most of the people who ahve 'no symptoms' are in fact presymptomatic . They can and do spread it.

Shitfuckoh · 03/01/2021 12:20

I was going to contact them letting them know 2 of mine were isolating due to contact with a positive case.
I don't need to do that now, as we've just been told 1 of ours is closed for 2 weeks initially.
It's the right decision & I fully support it.
