All to delay opening.

Hmmm. I'm not in london but cant see our schools are any safer.

SnowmanDrinkingSnowballs · 01/01/2021 18:18

Link?

Beebityboo · 01/01/2021 18:19

As I've just said in another thread, if it's not safe for the children of London then it isn't safe for my children either. All tier 4 schools should now delay.

I think they will have to close all Tier 4 schools now- as others have have said, if it's not safe in London, people won't see it as safe elsewhere.

This is a massive climb down for Williamson.

Absolutely, what on earth are we meant to think in other Tier 4 areas?
Mumofsend · 01/01/2021 18:26

Has anyone got the link for rolling rates in the different boroughs?

LacyEdge · 01/01/2021 18:28

That makes more sense.

Can they do all of Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire next? All hospital trusts on their knees but most primaries opening come what may. Confused

SeptSpiral · 01/01/2021 18:29

Are nurseries staying open?

Panickingpavlova · 01/01/2021 18:31

Good finally some organisation the boroughs got together and threatened them with legal action.

FrostedCranberries · 01/01/2021 18:33

I'm in london but my childs school is not closing.

emptydreamer · 01/01/2021 18:35

Can anyone explain me why GW is still in charge?

Watsername · 01/01/2021 18:37

Surely Bucks must follow....? State of emergency and rates climbing daily.

JassyRadlett · 01/01/2021 18:38

As I've just said in another thread, if it's not safe for the children of London then it isn't safe for my children either.

No one is saying it’s about children’s safety though - it’s about reducing transmission routes.

I just wish they’d shut the primaries properly and not continue with the utter farce of remote learning.

Our school has already confirmed that they plan to go back to a couple of worksheets and a few white rose maths videos flung at us, with occasional comments on work handed in. I could weep for my kids when I see what other schools are planning.

Paddingtonthebear · 01/01/2021 18:38

All London primary schools to close, Sadiq Khan just confirmed

RememberSelfCompassion · 01/01/2021 18:38

Oh wow did the boroughs threaten with legal action? Can I read about this somewhere?

I was horrified when Greenwihc were ordered to return.

I am repeatedly shocked that the govt seem so anti truth (schools are a safe place) and that the minister supposedly representing education is completely messing with schools.

lavenderlou · 01/01/2021 18:39

It didn't make any sense to keep schools in some boroughs and not others given the amount of cross-borough travel that goes on for schools in London.

Paddingtonthebear · 01/01/2021 18:39

Remain closed should I say

AaronPurr · 01/01/2021 18:42

That u-turn didn't take very long, I wonder how long the next one will be for all tier 4 primary schools. Do we think before Monday, or by the end of the first week back?

Mumofsend · 01/01/2021 18:42

Surely all of tier 4 will follow?

RememberSelfCompassion · 01/01/2021 18:43

Do you think it will be all tier 4?

Itisasecret · 01/01/2021 18:47

First of many. Now one set of LEA’s have stood up to Gav. The rest will follow. It is quite worrying as a parent’s POV that the Ed sec now has no control over his own dept.

nancy75 · 01/01/2021 18:56

Bloody daft to have shut some boroughs while those next door were open, not sure how they ever thought it was a good idea in the first place.
The way they reacted to Greenwich before Xmas was criminal in my mind .

Unescorted · 01/01/2021 18:58

Why all tier 4 schools - The infection rate in many of the "old" tier 4s and ex T3 boroughs in the NW have lower infection rates than places that are in the new T3 areas. We are in T4 with the 11th lowest rate per 100,000.

Char2015 · 01/01/2021 19:01

This is the right move but it should never of got to the point whereby these boroughs were not included, it should always been the whole of London. And it shouldn't be the case where in 3 days time schools were due to open and now they are being told to remain closed. Of all the Government departments, the education one is definitely topping the list for the most u-turns and wrong decisions.
