Title says it all I suppose.

I still know no one who has had the virus.

Am I in a minority? Anyone else not know anyone that's had it?

I truley believe it's real. I just don't know anyone that's had it!

Me either don't know anyone who's had it.

humtar · 31/12/2020 15:22

Try working in a school, over 10 of my primary colleagues have tested positive. Also have 3 family members who work in the NHS who have tested positive.

RadGlags · 31/12/2020 15:23

The only person I ‘know’ is my friend’s dad who has had it recently and been in hospital on a ventilator but before that, nothing!
Similarly ‘believe’ in covid just haven’t been personally affected by it.

zzizz · 31/12/2020 15:23

I think count yourself lucky and hope it stays that way!

I know about six personally including some who seem to have permanent changes to their smell and taste and lungs (this somehow worries me more than the concept of dying).

And a lot of people will be asymptomatic of course.

Cailleach · 31/12/2020 15:23

Only my mum's neighbours...nobody close to me had had it.....yet!

Palavah · 31/12/2020 15:23

Lucky you.

RedskyAtnight · 31/12/2020 15:23

Are you in an area with low cases? Do you have no children at school? Are you mostly wfh and associating with other people who mostly wfh?

If you've said "yes" to all those, I suspect it's not that unusual.

Qwpoeriu · 31/12/2020 15:24

I do have family and friends who work in the NHS, some front line. I also have 3 children at school. Not a single case at school either.

It's just strange to think I don't know anyone that's had it.

I didn't know anyone but in the past couple of weeks...
My friend. Her boyfriend (boyfriend hospitalised, age 30 no health conditions).
My friends uncle died
My friends nan, mum and dad

Several colleagues, plenty of children and their family members. I now think it's unusual if a week goes by where I don't hear about another case.

BigPlanes · 31/12/2020 15:25

Shock This is almost impressive. My neighbour buried a parent from it yesterday, my child’s school has had 20+ confirmed cases, three of our friends are seriously injured/long-term consequences (we are in our 30s), other friends have also had it.

MimosaFields · 31/12/2020 15:26

About 20 friends of mine / family have had it. 3 elderly friends of my parents died of it

totiredtocaresixk · 31/12/2020 15:27

I do several people

YesItsMeIDontCare · 31/12/2020 15:28

This time last week I knew no-one who'd had it... and now DH has it 😱. He still the only person I know who has though.

BikeRunSki · 31/12/2020 15:29

I know about a dozen, including my boss. He was very ill, but not quite hospitalised. A family friend died in early March, before lockdown, with a chest infection, attributed toCOVID, but she was in her 80s.

Criticalfoxhat · 31/12/2020 15:29

I work in a hospital in a diagnostic setting, we have had 2 waves thus far rolling through the department with numerous people off work. Outside of work my sister and cousin and her kids have had it.

Qwpoeriu · 31/12/2020 15:29

We are in a low area. I know that will make a massive difference compared to the sardines of London!

Oh No! I hope he recovers well.

I do know quite a lot of people who've had it, a lot of university students and through work, including us, but very few in my local community. One person is experiencing longer-term after-effects, a couple took around six weeks to shake it off - one went to A&E (pre-existing heath issues), every one else is fine.

christmasathomeagain · 31/12/2020 15:31

I know loads and loads who have had it since September- but then I work in a school so almost all the people I know have had it are colleagues.

Fingers crossed my household hasn't had it.

HeronLanyon · 31/12/2020 15:31

I didn’t until yesterday.

hopingforonlychild · 31/12/2020 15:31

@Qwpoeriu i live in london and don't know anyone who had it personally. Just heard about relatives of friends or friends of friends, and only 1 case actually lived in london. But then everyone i know works from home. Don't know anyone personally who works in a school or shop etc.

starrynight19 · 31/12/2020 15:32

I would say you are certainly unique. Especially having three children in school. Are you in an exceptionally low area ?

I know so many people who have had it including me , and have friends who have lost parents.

VinterKvinna · 31/12/2020 15:33

I personally dont know anyone who has had it - and it makes it a bit surreal . I totally believe it is happening, but when you are not affected by it at all, its very strange.

On a tangent, is this what faith is like?

spagbog5 · 31/12/2020 15:33

We lost mil to it in may and we all tested positive have all been very unwell with it for the last 2 weeks,I’m asthmatic and was threatened with hospital two days ago.
It’s been highly awful for all of us and is spreading round here like wildfire.
