Title says it all I suppose.

I still know no one who has had the virus.

Am I in a minority? Anyone else not know anyone that's had it?

I truley believe it's real. I just don't know anyone that's had it!

Same

thepeopleversuswork · 31/12/2020 15:33

It depends where you are in the country I think: if you are somewhere quite rural this wouldn’t surprise me.

It would be quite surprising if you were in London or Kent...

SpnBaby1967 · 31/12/2020 15:33

I know 2, my over 50 nhs worker friend who got it in lockdown 1.0 and me.

Between the 2 schools my kids go to there are 3700ish students (2 secondary campuses and a large primary) and the secondary has had 100 cases total 3/4 picked up with the mass secondary testing over xmas holidays, and the rest primary, mainly picked up due to the aforementioned mass testing. Three teachers in primary.

Oh wait, I had a karate student catch it early on too.

I live in the East of England, apparently rife with super covid (or whatever the cool kids are calling it now).

AaronPurr · 31/12/2020 15:34

@Qwpoeriu

I do have family and friends who work in the NHS, some front line. I also have 3 children at school. Not a single case at school either.

It's just strange to think I don't know anyone that's had it.

That's pretty unusual. I wonder if perhaps some family and friends actually have had it, and there have been cases at school, but you just haven't been told?
borageforager · 31/12/2020 15:34

I only know of people - my friend’s brother, my DH’s colleagues, my SIL’s mum, my colleague’s mum etc. Nobody I know directly. And I have 3 kids in school, now in a tier 3 area.

Qwpoeriu · 31/12/2020 15:34

@starrynight19

I would say you are certainly unique. Especially having three children in school. Are you in an exceptionally low area ?

I know so many people who have had it including me , and have friends who have lost parents.

We are currently teir 3. But when I checked 150 people in the last 7 days have officially tested positive. Can't remember hospital numbers. 2 died. So yes. Low.

My covid cherry was popped last week when a family friends teen daughter tested positive. Headache for a day and is back to normal thankfully.

Weirdlynormal · 31/12/2020 15:35

I didn’t until the 18th Dec and now all hell has broken out. 1 kid in my DD’s class had it and now 5 other families. The kids were fine, but one family had the ambulance out on Boxing Day. Other friends in Essex now have it, plus family friends in Kent. It’s all feeling a lot more real now.

HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 31/12/2020 15:36

Forgot to add I'm in London.

Qwpoeriu · 31/12/2020 15:37

@AaronPurr

It's a school of about 120 kids in a village. We would know if someone had it!!

I know eight people outside of work. But out of colleagues (nhs) dozens and dozens

DipanKrispanEven · 31/12/2020 15:38

Until a couple of weeks ago I knew 9 people directly who had had it. Now I have to add my son, his partner, his partner's mother, their daughter, my husband, my daughter, and myself.

mommybunny · 31/12/2020 15:39

There was an outbreak in DD’s school year -she didn’t get it herself - but otherwise the only people close to me who have had it are my sister and her family, all the way across the ocean in New Jersey. I’m in Surrey.

Tattiespuds · 31/12/2020 15:40

Wow that's really lucky.

My mum caught it 3 weeks ago, she's still feeling unwell. She's fine and will be but still unwell, if you know what I mean.

My friend, his girlfriend and their kitchen fitter all had it although I can't count to know the kitchen fitter.

My cousin, partner and 2 kids all had it.

My aunt caught and was hospitalised - months ago,. Back on her feet now but will have chest issues fo life.

My ex had it.

My child's teacher had it, and there is currently 3 other teachers with it now.

There is a good chance people you know have had it and you just don't know about it.
Only mum directly told me when she had it,
My ex put is on FB.

The teacher because daughter had to isolate.

Everyone else found out by chance after the fact.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 31/12/2020 15:43

Other than my mum back in March, I don't personally know anyone else who has had it...I know of people, but not know them IYSWIM

Scottishgirl85 · 31/12/2020 15:43

I know about 50 who have had it, none hospitalised, a lot asymptomatic, 3 were serious (still not right 9 months later).

Lockdownlife245 · 31/12/2020 15:44

Half my family, a handful of friends and a couple of work colleagues unfortunately. Plus I know of local cases from parents that work in schools/kids go to school x

Enidblyton1 · 31/12/2020 15:48

A lot of my London friends say they had it in March (before testing was available), but then I didn’t know anyone until the past couple of weeks when it has suddenly exploded.

Mreggsworth · 31/12/2020 15:48

I knew of a couple of people who got it in the summer though not local to me. Now in the last 2 days I've heard of 9 cases of friends/ family and acquaintances. So far just everyone feeling generally shitty nothing too bad. But fingers crossed it doesnt get much worse for them.

These all seem to be a result of flexing the rules too much over Christmas.

RaininSummer · 31/12/2020 15:49

I only know of people who are friends of friends so not personally. Very much believe its real though.

Runforthehills82 · 31/12/2020 15:49

I’m in South Wales and loads of people I know round here have it/have had it recently. It is spreading very fast round here. Also, several family members and friends in London and Surrey have it at the moment.

Qwpoeriu · 31/12/2020 15:51

@spagbog5

We lost mil to it in may and we all tested positive have all been very unwell with it for the last 2 weeks,I’m asthmatic and was threatened with hospital two days ago. It’s been highly awful for all of us and is spreading round here like wildfire.
I missed this when I read through the thread @spagbog5

Sorry to hear this. I hope you recover soon. Take care of yourself.

My mum, dad, step mum, two of my daughters friends and their families, five families from dance class, over ten other families that I know that don’t fall into those categories.

Qwpoeriu · 31/12/2020 15:52

We are rural. Its like a different world. We still live under the restrictions but the cases are low.

OP posts:
LittleSwede · 31/12/2020 15:52

In the last 2 weeks, 7 people, all caught from schools. Prior to that only 3 people from the same family who had it in April.
