Title says it all I suppose.

I still know no one who has had the virus.

Am I in a minority? Anyone else not know anyone that's had it?

I truley believe it's real. I just don't know anyone that's had it!

I'm in Surrey, just outside Greater London. Didn't know many who'd had it for months, but then by December and especially just before Christmas suddenly heard of loads. Mainly school staff and school kids. A Sage scientist has said Boris was lying yesterday about schools being safe. No surprise there then

UndertheCedartree · 31/12/2020 16:06

Myself and 2 others were hospitalised out of my friends. I have long-Covid. Poor family friend just dropped dead from it Sad

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 31/12/2020 16:07

I knew only a couple until October, then it went up and hasn't stopped, I know over 50 now.

uninvitedcat · 31/12/2020 16:08

I work in a school in the South East and don't know anyone who's had it either, OP. Not sure how we made it through so far without a single case in our school, but really hoping it stays that way.

RosieWosieWoo · 31/12/2020 16:08

I didn't until 10 days ago when my sister and her whole family came down with it.

Mincepiesallyearround · 31/12/2020 16:09

I’m in London and don’t know anyone who has had it - personally I mean, like a friend or colleague or relative.

ZippedyDooDa · 31/12/2020 16:10

I feel OP has a very malevolent intention with this thread.
Yes OP, I know many, including a close relative who died from it. What's your point?

Redruby2020 · 31/12/2020 16:10

I was the same, now starting to get closer to home, at least 3 families I know have been affected.

Supersimkin2 · 31/12/2020 16:10

Our caretaker aged 92 had covid, is fine.

My mate's MIL had it aged 90, also fully recovered.

Two neighbours had mild hayfever, shocked to discover it was covid. Third neighbours is NHS nurse and has had it twice, also has COPD but is fine.

midnightstar66 · 31/12/2020 16:10

Try working in a school, over 10 of my primary colleagues have tested positive. Also have 3 family members who work in the NHS who have tested positive.

Basically this. If you know people in these groups (or have dc at school where I guess you might not actually know who is positive, just that someone is) then I'd be surprised if you knew/knew of no one!

UndertheCedartree · 31/12/2020 16:11

Mind you - I know quite a few who were asymptomatic so there have probably been lots that have had it around you but didn't know.

Cornettoninja · 31/12/2020 16:12

I think being rural will play a part. Covid seemed to spread quite rapidly through my town when it did hit despite being pretty quiet with it for most of the pandemic so far. I’ve noticed a few, clearly elderly peoples, houses popping up on right move too although that could also be down to people moving in with family or spaces becoming available in supported accommodation etc.

I think your view might also be skewed by the fact we’re not really seeing anyone at the moment. If you had no reason to expect to see someone you wouldn’t miss their presence iyswim.

Givemeabreak88 · 31/12/2020 16:13

I don’t know any one that’s had it and I’m in London. I know of people that have had it. But no one personally, like my mums friends etc. (But I’ve not met them)

Qwpoeriu · 31/12/2020 16:13

I don't think I had a main point with this thread. Just interested to know if anyone else knows no one who hasn't had the virus that has shut down the world.

Nothing sinister or anything. I am very privileged to hear all your stories. Sorry if I have upset anyone. It really wasn't the intention of the thread. You all have my deepest sympathy for your loses and I hope all your family members and friends recover well. Sorry again. Take care

I know a good 30-odd.

Two of them died of it (my friends’ parents), another was in ICU for 2 weeks, 3 more hospitalised, and another 3 suffering from Long Covid 6 months on. Ages 18-82

UndertheCedartree · 31/12/2020 16:15

@Qwpoeriu - I guess the tiny school makes a difference - there are more DC per year group in my DD's school than in your whole school! We get messaged everytime a DC or staff test positive so sure you would be told officially as well as the grapevine!

Witchend · 31/12/2020 16:16

I know loads and it's increasing rapidly.
However a lot of the increase is people saying "oh yes, I tested positive in November/May" or people saying " has it, and isn't doing well."

So you may well know people who have had it/have it, but not found out yet.

cocodomingo · 31/12/2020 16:17

Last lockdown i only knew 1 friend who had it. This time...my niece, my friends husband, 4 friends, my medical director and 2 matrons are all positive. Its feeling really prevalent.

Silversun83 · 31/12/2020 16:17

I could have said the same a couple of weeks before Christmas.. And then it's been a bit like a tsunami.. A colleague at work (though we're all wfh), DH's aunt and uncle, a child and parents in DC's year at school, a friend's sister and family, then a close friend and her family.

CheltenhamLady · 31/12/2020 16:17

I didn't know anyone personally in the first wave, but now two of my sons have had it, and several friends and neighbours. One of our neighbours lost her father on Christmas Day.

Spodge · 31/12/2020 16:17

I know very few. A distant cousin who lived in the North West got it and died. He was in his 70s, obese and with several serious health issues. Otherwise I know three people. One in the North West and two in London. All three have recovered.

whatshalliget · 31/12/2020 16:18

I didn’t until I started working in a school from August. Now I know and know of many. Am dreading this coming term.

ElfieElfington · 31/12/2020 16:20

I've had it, not hospitalised but didn't get out of bed except to go to the bathroom for 3 days and was poorly for 8 weeks, I'm still not 100%, still coughing and have the headache 10 weeks on. DD also treated positive but wasn't poorly (luckily she was able to look after me and the pets) and DP tested positive and was poorly for a week. Lots of my colleagues have had it.

Lampzade · 31/12/2020 16:20

Op, you are very lucky
I know many people who have had it and some who have died
My whole household has it

PurplePinapple · 31/12/2020 16:21

My closest friend currently has it, her dp has been messing all day saying how worried he is about her because shes really really unwell. She's Tested positive on the 27th. He is negative, their 2 very small children (6m and 2yo) are also positive..
