Title says it all I suppose.

I still know no one who has had the virus.

Am I in a minority? Anyone else not know anyone that's had it?

I truley believe it's real. I just don't know anyone that's had it!

@Lockdownshmockdown

I work in a school. I do not know a single person with the virus.
Well you will soon.
@Qwpoeriu - gosh, sounds like you've had a difficult enough year as it is! Flowers
It's been an absolute whirlwind! And the longest year ever. Here's to 2021 ey! Hmm

I'm in London and I know a lot more families who have had it now, luckily none seriously. All recovered. Makes me think a little herd immunity + vaccinations for the elderly might lead to good news in a few weeks? Am I too optimistic?

SlowlyLosingSubPlot · 31/12/2020 17:02

I live in the SE

DH, I and 2DC had it
Friends husband was in hospital with it
DCs teacher in hospital twice from it
Before lockdown one, around 10 cases with kids, their dad and our teacher
Friend had it but only slight cough
9 tested positive in DC1s year just before Christmas
1 school dad in 40’s died
Back home:
My step mum caught it in hospital and died
Some of her relatives caught it in a care home but recovered

Overseas/ European country
One arm of DHs family and their extended family all had it (about 15 of them) with one nearly dying

I know loads

the80sweregreat · 31/12/2020 17:02

I've heard of a few more today ( Essex and a few in Kent)
We are marked black on the covid map , so it's not surprising really.
Plus I'm mid fifties so everyone I know is a similar age and I guess we are more likely to know people , or catch it :(
People with asthma are higher risk and I know a few of them.

Lockdownshmockdown · 31/12/2020 17:02

So I’ve been hearing since March.

Neversleepingever · 31/12/2020 17:03

I'm London and don't know anyone. No family or friends have had it. Terrified as I feel like my 'luck' will run out soon.

Yes, this crossed my mind. A giant tsunami will hit us!

Think yourself very lucky.

WreckTangled · 31/12/2020 17:05

@GrapeLipBalm

Would be interesting to know what region people are in who hardly know anyone
I'm in the south east. I know 'of' people, my neighbours friends husband and my colleagues brother, but I don't personally know anyone. We've all had antibody tests at work too - all negative and we do the twice weekly lateral flow tests (I know they're not very accurate though).
SaltyTootsieToes · 31/12/2020 17:07

Then you’re extremely lucky and need to count your blessings.

It’s very real, it’s world wide and thousands upon thousands have died plus thousands upon thousands suffer long covid.

Jrobhatch29 · 31/12/2020 17:08

I am NE and know loads. Around 20-30 I know personally. DP knows loads at work. Thankfully everyone has been ok

ShowOfHands · 31/12/2020 17:08

Both of my dc have had it but DS was the only one in his school and DD one of only 3 in her school in September, no cases since. No cases in our village at all and very few in the surrounding area.

DH and BIL are both critical workers and know very few people who've had it either.

We are extremely fortunate so far.

frustrationcentral · 31/12/2020 17:11

Until the beginning of the month I hadn't known anyone, then I knew a whole family and yesterday DS1 received a positive test Sad

We're in a low area, two DS's at school/college (both with very few cases), DH works from home and I've just gone back to work (education)

Lockdownshmockdown · 31/12/2020 17:12

I don’t feel lucky in the slightest. My partner lost two members of his family this year. One on Christmas Day. Neither to coronavirus. Life is hard. The virus is not the be all and end all.

We’ve had many children off sick from sitting in freezing cold classrooms. None off sick with coronavirus. None isolating either because their families have the virus. I see children come in with appalling lunches because they don’t get hot meals anymore at school.

Time will tell. The truth will out. We’ll all calm down I hope to God.

They are counted every day. Trust me I know how lucky I am to be here with what I have this year!

Didn't know anyone till a few weeks ago, I work in a school. I know a lot now sadly.

longtimemarried · 31/12/2020 17:14

My son has had it, still in recovery, has been very very ill. Lives in London.

AaronPurr · 31/12/2020 17:14

Being cold isn't great, but it doesn't make you sick.

Disfordarkchocolate · 31/12/2020 17:14

I don't think I'd tell that many people if I tested positive, only if there was a chance I'd passed it on. I know a few who've had it, unfortunately.

Crumpetycrump · 31/12/2020 17:15

I too work in a school snd have a friend on a ventilator in a London ICU Sad

rollinggreenhills · 31/12/2020 17:16

You're lucky then. I know of quite a few people who have had it, two of whom were ill enough to be in hospital.

One of my husband's distant relatives.
My ds's girlfriend's aunt.
Several of my dd's work colleagues.
A whole family who live opposite.
My NDN's son.

Cliffdonville · 31/12/2020 17:17

I tested positive a few days ago, along with my DH and DD. No-one else I know personally has had it but there seems to be more friends of friends getting it now so I expect it won't be long! We are in a tier 4 area where primary schools aren't able to open.

Qwpoeriu · 31/12/2020 17:17

We are all lucky and unlucky in different ways!
