Do you think tier five will happen

Or just just being said as scare tactic? What else could they really stop people doing?

OP posts:
poppingpotatoes · 28/12/2020 15:13

@Silvergreen

If tier 5 is not leaving the house it will be unenforceable.
Eh? No it won't, they can just stop people who they see out of the house and ask where they are going. I was stopped on my way to work in March/April and asked where I was going, it wasn't a problem - I just showed them my work ID and went on my way.
Spongebobsquarefringe · 28/12/2020 15:14

It’s highly likely the app will work if they make one track and disgrace is hardly Earth shattering.

There is more tiers than a bloody wedding came they just adding as the weeks go on, tiers sound better than lockdown so they think we accept it.

Driving back from food shop today T4 and our local high street was heaving

Quaagars · 28/12/2020 15:14

We could all be made to install an app on our phone that tracks us. So many options...

How would that even be enforcable? A lot of people don't even have a smartphone to install apps on.

Tootletum · 28/12/2020 15:14

@AcornAutumn yeah most people in these threads salivate at the thought of tanks in the streets as far as I can tell. Admittedly I find fatigues on trained bodies quite hot too, but not really into locking everyone up. According to mumsnet that makes me a bad person.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 28/12/2020 15:14

I hope everyone here realises their phones are currently tracked them everywhere they go. They are probably also continuously listening to you in case you say Siri or OK Google. It's how we all live.

I couldn’t give a toss if my phone is listening to see if I say “Hey Siri”. I DO give a toss if the government is using my phone to track me, prosecute me and penalise me.

Quaagars · 28/12/2020 15:15

Just seen my point already been addressed.

MistleTOEboughski · 28/12/2020 15:15

I don't think they will go any stricter than lockdown1, it would make a big difference to spread if they just shut schools and don't do anything more, and even there they are reluctant to do it. They just want to keep cases below the level where hospitals can easily be overwhelmed.

Illberidingshotgun · 28/12/2020 15:15

@Feministicon

I heard in tier 5 you can’t even look out of your own window..
Don't be silly, Feministicon.

You'll still be able to look out of your window. You'll just need to spray sanitiser into your eyes when you've finished looking.

Personally, I see more and more people doubting the existence of covid, refusing to wear masks or obey other rules, stating that hospitals are quiet etc that all these people are a big part of the problem. They're out and about (we're tier 4) mixing freely, in and out of each others homes and living more or less normally. When the percentage of those refusing to comply is growing, I fear that the problems are only going to increase too.

TroubadorinTrouble · 28/12/2020 15:15

@Jourdain11

No leaving the house at all, except to go to hospital in a medical emergency. The army on the streets to enforce this. Food and medication drops of essential items needed for survival. Close schools for the rest of the year, work from home unless NHS and emergency services. Financial incentives for neighbours and family members to report on rule breaking. Unscheduled calls twice a day to ensure that people are at home, either that or tracking apps.

Exercise, etc. is obviously not necessary or can be done indoors. The only thing that matters is beating the virus!

Top trolling!! Grin
Waxonwaxoff0 · 28/12/2020 15:16

Some people are deluded if they think formal childcare is widely available in every area of the country. Especially during a pandemic.

CuteBear · 28/12/2020 15:16

What’s the difference between tier 4 and lockdown? This is just about control. The NHS isn’t more overwhelmed than past winters.

AcornAutumn · 28/12/2020 15:16

@notevenat20

Not all of us

Do you mean you don't have a mobile phone?

Not a smartphone

I left the dumbphone at home a lot in lockdown. It's not ideal but if mum has an emergency, I'm not near anyway.

AcornAutumn · 28/12/2020 15:17

But the two things are inextricably linked?
notevenat20 · 28/12/2020 15:18

The NHS isn’t more overwhelmed than past winters.

I am not sure that is true. Why do you say it?

CarlottaValdez · 28/12/2020 15:18

Is there any evidence that not travelling more than 100 metres from your house, or locking children up or needing a wee slip of paper to go out helped with anything?

Jourdain11 · 28/12/2020 15:18

@TroubadorinTrouble haha, relief that we haven't entirely passed into the next dimension and someone can tell that I was taking the piss Wink

No. Didn't Peru have one of the strictest lockdowns?

Marmite27 agreed! Xmas Grin

You are being tracked already @BrightYellowDaffodil

Got location on your phone?

Make calls?

Do online shopping? Have loyalty cards?

Use forums?

Big Brother knows what you do and where you are already .

Quaagars · 28/12/2020 15:22

So why don’t you all take your scaremongering fantasies and predictions and keep them to yourselves as there are actually people on here who will believe you and destroy their mental health some more by worrying about it

Well said!
I have said right from the beginning that I think people's mental health is going to suffer from all of this and is just as important as everything else.

Difference is schools are open.

Also.just saw in the bees London ambulance took around 8k calls on boxing day. Their busiest ever on record. Usually around 5, 5.5k. So. Theres that.

AcornAutumn · 28/12/2020 15:24

That's only a tiny portion of life though.

I don't have loyalty cards btw.

NoSuchThingAsCheese · 28/12/2020 15:24
