Just thought I'd start a new thread for the north east lot as number 3 is getting pretty full!

@PennyDreadfuI hope you're ok and hope you don't mind me picking the thread up!

Thanks everyone - some great ideas for me here and thanks for the good wishes for DD, much appreciated

Someaddedsugar · 28/12/2020 16:54

Also Derwent and Fontburn reservoirs have shorter walks?

Hope your DD is ok and enjoys the activities you have planned!

The bauble tree is still at the park in Chester-le-Street if she'd like that? They also sell duck food for the swans (though they do get very close!)

Went to Newcastle today, ordered my new sofa, should delivered by Easter! Newcastle wasn’t too busy, but neither Fenwicks/John Lewis had the cooker I want. I need to see one before I buy.
It was cold today.
I keep forgetting it’s a bank holiday Blush.
DD and I caught the Christmas angel by accident before Christmas. I enjoyed the Christmas music.
Hope they do that bus and the Santa bus next year. Whoever thought of it needs a pay rise.

GNE pulled a blinder when they got the contract for the school duplicate services. There were some extra peak time 21s running between Birtley and Gateshead, so they put a preserved routemaster on!

PickAChew · 29/12/2020 11:00

Well I'd hoped for smooch into town, today, but that ice! 🥶

PickAChew · 29/12/2020 11:01

Mooch😂

Someaddedsugar · 29/12/2020 14:00

The ice is awful @PickAChew - I skated past our car this morning while attempting to get in it!

Ds2 ended up flat on his bum when he insisted dh took him for a walk!

Someaddedsugar · 29/12/2020 17:49

I hope it'll be gone by tomorrow! Hope your DS is ok @PickAChew!

Ha, he was just a bit surprised, @Someaddedsugar!

MissEWeatherwax · 29/12/2020 22:29

The ice was scary. At least not snow, I hate the stuff.
Anyone interested apparently The Botanic gardens in Durham are reopening in January. That is a nice walk.

PickAChew · 29/12/2020 22:36

I wonder if they'll be encouraging use of the Howland's entrance so you don't have to go through teh shop.

myrtleWilson · 29/12/2020 22:49

DH and DD had a slippery sliding time taking the bin out for collection tomorrow morning!

MissEWeatherwax · 29/12/2020 23:19

Is Howland’s Park and ride open? Because using that car park would be a good idea. Even for park and stride into city centre if bus not running. Not for me, I’m too lazy to walk. But I use to love to visit to the Botanic garden and the Oriental museum when mine were little.

PickAChew · 30/12/2020 00:44

PR2 is running, yes - just a shortened verstion of it.
bustimes.org/services/pr2-durham-durham

It is a fairly hefty walk from there. County hall is probably closer.

I've just spotted in the Northern Echo that Hartlepool is a potential for tier 4. I wonder what else will be announced this afternoon! In his interview with LBC Hancock appeared to say that there wouldn't be a tier 5 but didn't really comment on education or who would move where, other than saying the restrictions will be broadened and I've assumed that means more falling under the tier 3 and 4 restrictions but not sure whether that assumption is correct!

PickAChew · 30/12/2020 12:47

Hartlepool going tier 4 on its own would be pointless because most people would just go shopping elsewhere.

Someaddedsugar · 30/12/2020 13:29

I agree @PickAChew - I was looking on the map this morning and all of the Tees area looks quite bad so I wonder if it'll end up a blanket tier 4 across the north east?

I was talking to a friend yesterday who said she has friends who live a mile or so outside of Darlington and are in tier 2, and their village pub is having to regularly turn people away who've come from Darlington and Co Durham.

PickAChew · 30/12/2020 16:06

It looks like that's what we've got.

And North Yorkshire are going into tier 3, so no nipping across the border to the pub.

Such a shame for the shops, especially the smaller independents.

Hopefully this is a short term measure rather than endless months!

Hope everyone's ok!

Plussizejumpsuit · 30/12/2020 17:09

Hi all. I was around on the other support thread in the autumn. Does anyone know what happened to penny dreadful? She just dropped off the last thread. Hope she is OK?

I'm in Gateshead. It's bloody cold today. No sign of the frost and ice melting at all in the street.

I'm feeling fairly flat and low today. I know I'm fortunate to have work and a home etc. But every thing feels so monotonous.

Anyone got any fun new year's eve ideas? Grin

PickAChew · 30/12/2020 17:28

I bet the Arnison centre will be mad busy, tonight.

PickAChew · 30/12/2020 17:29

And I have told dh that we will be playing scrabble, tomorrow night. No twisty face, either.

MissEWeatherwax · 30/12/2020 17:55

I’m crying, I’m staying in my pjs again tomorrow. I have spent today watching Netflix. Rubbish like The Princess Switch both one and two.( I enjoyed actually that’s how sad I am).😭😭
