Just thought I'd start a new thread for the north east lot as number 3 is getting pretty full!

@PennyDreadfuI hope you're ok and hope you don't mind me picking the thread up!

Very good Smile.

Someaddedsugar · 29/03/2021 18:26

Love the baking @PickAChew!

The wind blew our spring wreath off the bloody door this morning - I was not impressed Angry

I've just heard that the Boots at Durham marketplace is now a vaccine centre and you can call and add yourself to a waiting list if you're over 40 (sadly I'm not!) - worth a try if anyone's waiting for theirs!

That’s brilliant if we are getting to 40’s. I now know loads of work colleagues and friends who have had or have a date for their vaccine.
Mine’s at Boots in Durham at the end of this week (Thursday) thought if don’t feel well, I’ll have time to recover.
Looking forward to the 17c tomorrowGrin

PickAChew · 29/03/2021 19:03

Dh is mid-late 40s so hopefully he'll get his letter when the pace picks up again. Ds1's turn on Wednesday. The young man who refuses to engage with anything medical and always refuses his flu jab is desperate for it! Maybe this will help him to feel able to leave the house, again.

NUFC69 · 29/03/2021 19:39

So pleased to hear that Co Durham is now vaccinating the over 40s - my DC are that age, so I am hoping it isn't too long for them. And I was delighted to hear about the GSK factory in Bernard Castle is going to be doing the fill, etc of the Novavax Vaccine which is being made in Bellingham. Very good for the NE economy.

TheSilveryPussycat · 30/03/2021 17:10

I was reading yesterday's Guardian Politics Sketch, which pointed out how Boris kept having to avoid saying GSK's plant is in Barnard Castle Grin

PickAChew · 30/03/2021 17:36

That did tickle me:o

PickAChew · 31/03/2021 21:12

Well, after a trip to exotic Brandon, Ds1 is now vaccinated. We can thank shows like The Last Leg, for this. They've given a lot of lighthearted exposure to various well known people having their jabs and it's really helped him with his fear. He even wore a mask and used hand sanitiser!

I don't know if anyone i on Next Door but it's all kicking off. The pub bore really needs his pub back.

Someaddedsugar · 31/03/2021 21:21

That's brilliant news @PickAChew!

@MrsEWeatherwax I've just seen this article www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/article/mochi-balls-recipe and it made me think of you and your DD

MrsEWeatherwax · 31/03/2021 22:09

That’s brilliant PickAChew, bet you’re relieved.
Good news re vaccine jobs at Barnard Castle, I always laugh at how they pronounce it. But I do have a soft north east accent. So I probably don’t pronounce it correctly.
Thanks for that article re Little moons, might see if DD is up to having a go @Someaddedsugar. She is only allowed one box a week. She ate the whole box in a day! £5 for 6 and she just ate them, just like that. I sound such a Scrooge.

We are still rocking though the vaccines, the north east and County Durham are doing so well. I need to get a life, because I’m so enjoying the new graphics on the Insight page.
I’m on Next door, going to have a look, see I said I need to get a life.

PickAChew · 31/03/2021 22:22

That coating sounds weird. Like a very, thick, rubbery custard!

MrsEWeatherwax · 01/04/2021 12:02

The coating on the real thing is weird. Little moons I mean.
Vaccine done first thing this morning, very organised, didn’t hurt, but now have a bit of a headache and feel nauseous. But so relieved done.

PickAChew · 01/04/2021 13:10

Which one did you have?ds1 got the Pfizer and doesn't appear to have had any untoward side effects.

Ds2, otoh, is a proper handful, today. He thinks it should be teatime, already, and is intent on winding Ds1 up.

MrsEWeatherwax · 01/04/2021 15:37

I got Oxford, feel fine now. Probably hasn’t worked.
Don’t think under 18 can have Oxford, they have to have Pfizer. I think that’s why my DF was a bit late. Because he had Pfizer and DM had the Oxford one. Second dose I mean.

PickAChew · 01/04/2021 16:26

Yeah, he had an appointment cancelled when they realised the wrong one was on offer, that day, as he's 17.

PickAChew · 01/04/2021 18:34

Just had a splendid takeaway thali from Holi and Bhang. Lips are tingling, now!

myrtleWilson · 01/04/2021 18:51

Thanks to this thread I'm on the wait list for Boots!

Someaddedsugar · 01/04/2021 20:57

Ooooh where’s that at @PickAChew

Pleased the info was useful @myrtleWilson. I’ve got my volunteer shift at the Arnison Centre site next week so I’ll be asking if they gave a waiting list too!

Hopefully you’ll stay side effect free @MrsEWeatherwax

Nevilles Cross area @Someaddedsugar - only it's on The Avenue so you have to get to it from the viaduct as it's right at the end of a dead end!

MrsEWeatherwax · 02/04/2021 12:55

I’m now side effect free, it must not have worked. I feel completely fine!
Lambing is in full swing at Broom House farm, shame they are missing another lambing open day, they use to collect for charity.
I think spring is my favourite time of year.

myrtleWilson · 02/04/2021 13:11

Lots of lambs seen on a double farm shop visit today - Knitsley and then Broomhouse... Broomhouse much more covid secure - no distancing to be see at Knitsley!

It was DD's 18th birthday this week, consequently our house has never seen so many bouquets of flowers - we don't usually have many flowers in the house but everytime I walk into a room with a vase full of flowers I smile - I'm considering converting to flowers as a normal part of our household life

MrsEWeatherwax · 02/04/2021 13:19

I love flowers, I treat myself to a bunch every week, at moment it’s allotment daffodils.
Been to Knitsley a couple on times, but as Broom house so local, we aren’t very adventurous.
Happy birthday to your DD, one of mine had a birthday last week. Second in bloody lockdown. So sad for her.

PickAChew · 02/04/2021 13:29

The side effects are common but not ubiquitous. Even my run over by a bus feeling only lasted a day, too. The ones that run on are pretty rare.
TheSilveryPussycat · 02/04/2021 16:32

Drove west on the A690 today, and saw lots of lambs. So teeny weeny Smile
