Just thought I'd start a new thread for the north east lot as number 3 is getting pretty full!

@PennyDreadfuI hope you're ok and hope you don't mind me picking the thread up!

@TheSilveryPussycat

This is agony! I can't help my brain trying to figure out where you all live from your posts. If you wouldn't mind me knowing, maybe you could PM me? Not to worry if not, of course.

I went for a lovely walk yesterday, strangely enough with my Ex. We went to Aykely Wood which was a first for me, and quite delightful Smile

I live round the corner from aykley Woods. It's Ds2 's obsessive daily walk!
PickAChew · 24/03/2021 00:03

My parents are 100 miles away :(

Crossing my fingers for May half term.

MrsEWeatherwax · 25/03/2021 16:47

I’ve got my fingers crossed for you PickAChew.
Waldridge fell the cattle were at gate in the morning and the ponies on the afternoon.
Went to Chester park the craving are so cute, think the hare is my favourite, he looks very serious. Think the adults are enjoying them as much as the children😉

Someaddedsugar · 25/03/2021 18:26

Fingers crossed for you @PickAChew!

I'm hoping my sister can travel north and stay with either us or my parents then too as she's too far to visit there and back in a day.

I met a friend for a walk this morning and it was lovely - put me in a good mood for the rest of the day!

Fingers crossed for you, too, then @Someaddedsugar

We normally visit at Easter so Ds2 is going to have his hopes dashed, again.

Someaddedsugar · 25/03/2021 19:37

Hope he's ok. It's so hard for them isn't it with everything being so close yet so far.

I've just had confirmation my first vaccine centre volunteer slot is the week after Easter - I'm really excited (and pleased as I thought the centres might close with the possible slowing in supply).

Hello all you local people. Sorry I haven’t been on for a bit. I’ve been struggling with this whole lockdown and it feels never ending.

Excellent news re your vaccination volunteer slot @Someaddedsugar.

I have been rather obsessively walking up and down the Lanchester valley walk.

Has anyone’s children’s school had a bubble burst?

Someaddedsugar · 25/03/2021 19:58

Hope you're ok @Florelei Thanks

Thanks @Someaddedsugar. I’m sure I’ll be fine. It just feels like I’ve lost pretty much everything that I enjoyed doing. Hopefully not too long now before everything is a bit more like normal.

TheSilveryPussycat · 26/03/2021 15:34

Sorry to hear that, Florelei

Spring is coming, the buds are starting to open, the sun is getting stronger Smile

Way way back I walked solo along many of the old railway paths, all in one spring, It was joyous.

MrsEWeatherwax · 26/03/2021 18:08

I’m going for walk tomorrow around Durham river. I am so bored and slightly depressed, family member just had another boring lockdown birthday.
Hope weather is nice next week because we can sit in my DP’s garden. Roll on 12 April.
💐

Florelei · 27/03/2021 08:53

Enjoy your walk @MrsEWeatherwax!

@TheSilveryPussycat spring is definitely on the way. The nights are getting lighter too!

I’ve booked a table in crinnions beer garden for a meal and some drinks when they reopen. I hope it’s not snowing! We had snow on the ground in early April last year.

Someaddedsugar · 27/03/2021 19:19

Hope everyone's having a lovely day!

@TheSilveryPussycat I love walking along the railway lines! They were our go to place in the first lock down as only a short walk from our house!

@Florelei we've booked White Church in Durham for later in April - fingers crossed we'll both have lovely weather for our bookings!

@MrsEWeatherwax Tuesday is meant to be amazing for March - DP said 17 degrees!

Durham was nice today, other an nearly getting knocked over by the skateboards in market place. We enjoyed seeing the ducks/geese. The trees in the wear look dreadful and need sorting out.
My DD loves seeing the ducks on her walk to sixth form, she says it makes her smile at the beginning of the day.
17 degrees, you say might be able to remove my hoodie Blush
Good luck with the weather, hope it’s nice. I have always hated sitting in beer gardens etc. So will have to wait for June and indoors.

PickAChew · 27/03/2021 22:40

We passed the building site along the river on our walk, today. They aren't half chucking it up, now. And yes the ducks and geese were pretty abundant - and vocal!

Someone is going to have to do something about the steps down from the river walk by the Odeon if they're going to get around to opening up the units where the car park entrance used to be, though. They stink of piss and the pubs haven't even been open for 3 months.

MrsEWeatherwax · 27/03/2021 23:28

Yes, the new county hall is going up quick, it’s not going to be pretty is is it. It was a good job my DD was with me because I couldn’t work out why she made us walk in between the passport officesBlush
After our walk , we had a walkabout, it made me quite sad seeing all the shops that aren’t going to reopen.
But we found some little moons, so my DD was thrilled, apparently they are all the rage. So I got brownie points.

PickAChew · 27/03/2021 23:47

Had to Google that. Liilttle moon ice creams? Rather than the wank shop which is the only thing apart from tesco left on silver Street? :o

MrsEWeatherwax · 28/03/2021 00:10

Yes, ice cream, apparently people are going mad for them and they are out of stock everywhere. She is very into K-Pop etc. From shop which I think use to be Greenwood’s ( long time ago).
Also bought some Pocky biscuits, they are like mikko biscuits. Thank goodness for the University international students.
I had to google as had no idea what I was asking for, and thought she having me re namesBlush

PickAChew · 28/03/2021 08:11

I think tesco and sainsburys sell pocky biscuits. Or maybe mikado which look similar.

MrsEWeatherwax · 28/03/2021 20:51

They definitely sell mikado, is that the correct spelling. She wanted to try pocky because they have unusual favours.
As the little moons were nearly £5 for 6!! They will have to be a treat.
Saw some new born lambs on walk today, spring is coming. Please weather stop being so windy!

PickAChew · 29/03/2021 10:07

It's a bit wild, isn't it? Not much left of next door's greenhouse!

I shall be leaving ds2's daily walk until this afternoon and we will not be walking in the woods!

PickAChew · 29/03/2021 16:20

Been baking while hiding from flying stuff.

MrsEWeatherwax · 29/03/2021 16:31

They look fantastic, could just eat one with butter. Sort of like eating you’re feelings. Non look happy!
Was reading other threads about meeting in gardens etc and I was thinking, not here you will get blown away. My garden is like a wind tunnel Confused

MrsEWeatherwax · 29/03/2021 16:50

Was checking the vaccine stats on the Insight page and County Durham vaccine figures are brilliant.
I’m getting my vaccine Thursday and I am so looking forward to it, have paracetamol and I’m going to do nothing and relax.

PickAChew · 29/03/2021 16:50

"Non look happy"

Well they are hot Cross buns :o
