They can't just chuck everyone into tier 4. Cases are decreasing in many areas even with this new strain.

Could bloody well cry now. I've remained ok all the way through, not let it upset me or depress me but this has tipped me. I feel sick :-(

@PandemicPavolova I want a competent government. I think there are enough Tory MPs who could form one, never mind any other parties.

Only three members of the current cabinet I would ever consider including, at a push. There are some who are not the worst ever to hold their positions, often because another member of the cabinet held them, or Chris Grayling.

To be fair, some of the new strain panic is because we have had the scientific/lab expertise and capacity to actually identify it before other countries have. Germany seems to have rapidly increasing cases too.

The prospect of yet another press conference, along with having nowt to do today really as it appears the shelves in all shops here have been stripped bare so in slight panic mode as not got xmas stuff yet..I am considering breaking into the rum we have. We have not much food in, but plenty of rum and wine. Boris is driving me to day drinking! First time since the pa ndemic started too..
