1 but they weren’t offered a test as back in March you only got tested if you ended up in hospital

Sixpencefaux · 21/12/2020 20:47

Absolutely loads - I teach in a secondary school!

PurpleFlower1983 · 21/12/2020 20:51

Over 30.

TiredMary · 21/12/2020 20:53

Well, there have been many many students at the DC’s secondary schools and at the school I work in with covid, if that counts? I think pretty much all had flu like symptoms at worst, though, nothing too serious.

DH has several friends who have been hospitalised with it. He lost a friend (50, no underlying health issues) two weeks ago. I lost a friend (47, diabetic) and an uncle (65, no health issues) to covid earlier in the year.
All in London.

My uncle in Ireland is currently in hospital in a ventilator 😢. 60, underlying heart problems.

ILoveYoga · 21/12/2020 21:12

7

1 hospitalised for 6 weeks and on ventilator for most of that. Has long covid to date. Can hardly walk and she had no underlying issues. Mid 40s. Her husband had it. Symptoms like bad flu but never needed hospitalisation and recovered very well. All were so surprised by how bad the wife was. Very scared for a while there that she might not make it.

Another left with long covid. No underlying issues. She caught it skiing last March. Early 50s

Another friend, very ill for over a month only needed a few days in hospital on oxygen. No underlying issues. Early 50s. She’s ok now, a few months later

Three of my children (early 20s to early 30s). One had quite bad flu like symptoms with bad cough. One had bad cold like symptoms as well as loss of taste/smell All are ok now

HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 21/12/2020 21:31

1 secondary school child.

Fossie · 21/12/2020 22:25

Loads. I teach in a secondary school. This includes myself and a daughter. I know of 4 people right now.

goldenharvest · 21/12/2020 22:42

Just heard a fit and healthy 28 year old has died in local icu from covid

Bumsnet2021 · 21/12/2020 22:55

@goldenharvest

Just heard a fit and healthy 28 year old has died in local icu from covid
Whilst incredibly sad and a bit concerning of true, I would want more evidence than "just head a fit and healthy 28 year old has did" before I form a true opinion.

If its the case then I will shift my mindset (slightly)

Regardless, if a young person (or any person) has died then obviously I am very sorry to for them and all who knew them

Redsquareoctopus · 21/12/2020 22:59

Another 2 today, so 12

Flowerblue · 21/12/2020 23:12

About 14 or so. I work in a primary school and dd is secondary aged. One adult was hospitalised and another has long COVID.

Dowser · 21/12/2020 23:12

4
One died ( aged 77)
One has lots of health issues survived, aged 60
One also health issues , survived aged 71
One survived, pretty healthy, aged early 50s

Dowser · 21/12/2020 23:13

The 60 year old caught it in hospital

ThornAmongstRoses · 21/12/2020 23:22

My FIL.

My friend, her husband and their 2 children.

IndecentFeminist · 21/12/2020 23:45

2 families. My aunt and her adult child and grandchildren, so 4 in total there.

Then a local family.

Most severe was my cousin with a really nasty cough, others were either asymptomatic or mild cold level.

EskSmith · 22/12/2020 00:16

So sorry @mintyneb hope you and your partner are ok - be kind to yourselves x FlowersFlowers

MrsApplepants · 22/12/2020 00:23

None. And I feel like the only parent in the country whose child has not missed a day of school last term. I expect it’s all coming in January as we are tier 4.

OHolyTights · 22/12/2020 00:23

At least 22 directly. One has passed away.

Thefeep · 22/12/2020 00:24

2

stayathomer · 22/12/2020 00:25

Myself, 3 parents in the school (not at the same time!), 3 students in my son's school, 2 online friends and 1 home friend, so 10!

umpteennamechanges · 22/12/2020 00:27

2 died, one woman age 43 leaving husband and two children. One man age 33 leaving girlfriend and son.

1 hospitalised and now has long COVID (she is 37)

2 others (women in mid 30's-early 40's) not hospitalised but thought they were going to die. Had paramedics out but were both told they wouldn't be taken in unless their lips were blue(!) back in March. Both now have long COVID

Rest had something between mild cold to the flu (so in bed for a week) but now recovered.

OHolyTights · 22/12/2020 00:29

Plus numerous pupils across all year groups at DC's secondary school who have tested positive or had to self-isolate.

Abraxan · 22/12/2020 09:15

Over 30, mainly through my own school, myself included.
Range of ages from age 4y up. Variety of symptoms.
I don't know anyone personally who had died of covid, though know a couple who died with it (not in death certificates as died of something else.)

Of the people I actually know I was the most badly affected with hospital admission required. Still struggling a few weeks in but back at work, albeit slowly. Many of the 35-50 year old women who I know who've had it are struggling with ongoing fatigue, 'baby brain' type issues and general 'not quite right' feelings a few weeks on. The children I know have bounced back after 1-2 days of feeling a bit poorly. The older people we know of who have had it have done okay and managed at home throughout.

Through his work dh has dealt with a number of covid related deaths, both through covid directly or indirectly (suicide linked to covid related stress sadly.)

MarchingOnTogether · 22/12/2020 09:31

I know of one, she had no symptoms other than a runny nose.
I believe my son had it December 2019, obviously we had no clue what covid was then but he had a sky high temp and a dry cough, it sounded like croup!
3 weeks later my father passed away following a brief illness. He had a mystery upper respitory infection that caused the oxygen to his organs to be cut off. But again, they weren't testing for this back then so who knows.
