Just that really.

Have been sensible, followed the rules, looking forward to a simple Christmas with us and dm who lives alone 200 miles away.

Have seen quite a few definite non household groups doing what they want, meals out indoors etc and of course they will have met up with who they want to over the last few weeks and will still probably moan about the restrictions or just ignore them.

OP posts:
EstuaryBird · 19/12/2020 22:34

The only people that I know that have it at the moment are a multigenerational family of 5 and they were all infected by the youngest who got it at secondary school.

Maybe, maybe not. How can anyone 'prove' where they caught it?
safariboot · 19/12/2020 22:44

"The few" being the Prime Minister and his cronies.

The British government has poorly handled this pandemic from the start. Giving Britain the worst of both worlds - restrictions that are detrimental to the economy but fail to control the virus.

Lockdown 1 worked, then the government spent the summer encouraging us to do things that spread the virus.

Tiers Round 1 didn't work, so the government did Lockdown 2 which barely worked, before returning to Tiers Round 2 that was little different from 1 so surprise surprise didn't work.

Annebronte · 19/12/2020 22:46

I understand from dr friends that household transmission is the big problem, rather than schools. Certainly in the secondary school I teach in, we have very few cases.

FromEden · 19/12/2020 22:48

Imagine labeling people being normal humans "scum". The world truly has gone mad.

Arboria · 19/12/2020 22:50

All those selfish Covidiots illegally fleeing London. Angry

Northernsoulgirl45 · 19/12/2020 22:51

Most people I know probably caught it at school or work op not partying.

PhilCornwall1 · 19/12/2020 22:57

Ah, it's just like March again, everybody blaming everyone else.

All we need now is the "should I report" threads over the next couple of weeks.

Give it time, selfish, murderer and their mate STAY THE FUCK AT HOME will make an appearance.

Normal service has resumed.

Jenny4235 · 19/12/2020 22:58

Totally agree OP. Don’t bother putting it on here though, most people on here just want a fight, it’s what they live for.

TheSockMonster · 19/12/2020 22:58

@ElephantWhaleRabbit

The idea that Covid is spread around by rampant rule breaking is a comforting but it’s also total bollocks. It’s popular because it implies it could all be sorted by people just behaving themselves; it’s more palatable than the reality - i.e. that it’s spread around by people doing entirely lawful things - going to work, going to school, going to the shop, living / working in a care home.
Exactly this
JamieLeeCurtains · 19/12/2020 23:01

@Mummywantsaweewee

The more people who break the rules, the more restrictions we will have to live with. It’s that simple. I’ve seen people walking round shops wearing masks but not covering their nose. How dumb/ignorant can you get...?
I do find this really odd, given the nostrils are a significant transmission route.
Nousernamesleftatall · 19/12/2020 23:04

Yup @FromEden

user1471562688 · 19/12/2020 23:06

@thenightsky

Now here we are with a new strain because it was allowed to mutate

That is what a virus does. Humans will never stop that.

Exactly. Anyone with a brain knows this. Humans have destructed themselves trying to control this. What an utter farce. How the virus must be laughing at the stupid humans and I don't blame it. What complete and utter stupidity have we allowed to happen.
southeastdweller · 19/12/2020 23:10

Well, it's not too late, is it? Go on, fill your boots.

eastegg · 19/12/2020 23:26

I blame coronavirus. It spreads.

We have followed the rules, pretty much the only things we have been doing are sending the kids to school and me going out to work (I work in courts and use public transport to get there). So doing stuff we have positively been told to do, while making huge sacrifices to protect my vulnerable parents by not seeing them at all, for example.

Guess what? Two of us have just had covid. DS in year 7 and me. It's the virus that's ruining everything for you and lots of others OP, not people who are more stupid than you

santasmincepie · 19/12/2020 23:36

This is a pandemic. It's no one's fault.
My DP has tested positive. I'm awaiting results and I'm pretty sure they'll be positive as well.
Our great crime? DP had to go to work.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 19/12/2020 23:40

@Annebronte

You might have very few known cases. Kids are mostly asymptomatic then taking it home to older time otherwise more vulnerable people. Thats the problem.

Household transmission can appear to be the problem because you'll get several people showing positive when tested, but you have to look at how it's getting INTO the household

Hazelnutlatteplease · 19/12/2020 23:50

No people breaking the rules arent for the most part the problem.

Yes schools are driving it.

"According to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Survey (CIS), the percentage of positive tests continues to be highest among secondary school-age children (2.52% on 9 December 2020). Similarly, the Real-time Assessment of Community Transmission (REACT) reported highest positivity rates for people aged 13 to 17 years (2.04% between 13 November and 3 December)." source

No it's not school's fault. They have been truly shafted. They are an ideal Petri dish for transmission and have to operate without PPE. The first lockdown should have been spent organising full time zoom schooling for the majority.

So yes. It's bad govenment mismanagement.

Exactly. Put this on a placard.

TheKeatingFive · 19/12/2020 23:55

I blame coronavirus. It spreads.

Quite. It’s a virus. That’s what they do.

Mumof3andlovingit · 20/12/2020 00:00

100% believe it’s schools that have caused this and the fact that the government know this but like to try and hide it means I actually blame the government for all this mess

tobee · 20/12/2020 00:18

@Bluethrough I agree with you.

I'm just fed up with people comparing us to NZ and China. Endlessly

tobee · 20/12/2020 00:20

Especially as NZ is in another hemisphere.

tobee · 20/12/2020 00:20

I seriously don't think it's just the he schools

YouJustDoYou · 20/12/2020 00:22

The few being those who refuse to wear facemasks. Only.in the West is this even a thing.
