And I feel a little liberated.
There was a great buzz at the hospital like everyone was pleased to be doing their bit, admin, hca's to deputy director of nursing and medical consultants working on a Saturday to get the job done.

Really succinct information giving to make informed decisions for anyone with concerns, great follow up service.
Couldn't be prouder to work in the NHS or as someone with an at risk condition, having this service looking out for me.
Just wanted to share!
@foodtoorder Not a problem per se but posts like that can come across as gloating. The vaccine is a highly prized commodity in short supply now with only highly vulnerable groups priorised. Back in March, if one had the good fortune of working at a supermarket and being able to source some of those precious tomato tins and bags of pasta, would one be plastering photos of your full larder all over the Instagram? Don't think so... if they had a modicum of sensitivity.
There’s always one Hmm

Doingthingsdifferently · 12/12/2020 21:37

Thank you so much for sharing, this has really cheered me up and made me feel so much closer to the end of this nightmare x

Inthemuckheap · 12/12/2020 21:38

Whoop Fantastic. Can't wait for mine. Well done OP - gives us all hope.

CoolNoMore · 12/12/2020 21:39

I had a bit of a bum day and now I'm grinning from ear to ear! Thanks for sharing. It's the beginning of the end!

anxiouscrazymum · 12/12/2020 21:39

Amazing, this is fantastic news, I bet you feel relieved xx

This analogy would only work if there had been conspiracy theories about the pasta and tomatoes being somehow unsafe, and hungry people who needed the pasta felt anxious about cooking and eating it.

This might seem like an incredible stupid question but after you've had both jabs are you then free to live your life as normal?

This isnt a stupid question at all. I think it's going to become a very important question over the next few months.

ConfusedcomMum · 12/12/2020 21:41

Thank you OP for starting this thread. Will you have to have this vaccination every year then?

NorbertMeubles · 12/12/2020 21:42

Fantastic news OP!! Lovely thread which fills me with joy x Well done!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 12/12/2020 21:43

ConfusedcomMum - that’s another thing we simply don’t know yet. Might have to be annual boosters, might be once in a lifetime, might be somewhere in between!

persistentwoman · 12/12/2020 21:45

Fantastic positive thread. We desperately need a bit of hope and good news. Thanks OP.

Agree I’m not sure how to carry on after being vaccinated. Mas there is uncertainty about whether vaccinated can still transmit I’m assuming face masks and distancing will all be the same until further research ? Just amazing that the most vulnerable of all ages and the elderly frontline and older will have some protection so it doesn’t affect them so severely. Good for them and good for nhs. Good for us all.
foodtoorder · 12/12/2020 21:50

@confuseddotmum
I have no idea. Who knows yet if it is to be an annual thing. Time will tell.

Great news that USA will be starting this vaccine on Monday, according to BBC anyway.

Staffy1 · 12/12/2020 21:53

That's great! Glad it's started. I do hope the government do all they can to get everyone vaccinated as soon as possible and don't just let it fizzle out after a small fraction have been done.

Zestie · 12/12/2020 21:55

The vaccine immunity doesn't pick up for a few days though (12 I think?), and you will need a second dose to reach 95% immunity so please keep social distancing and wearing a mask.

Zestie · 12/12/2020 21:55

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel They have said immunity is for around six months they believe with the vaccine that is being given at the moment - then boosters.

GabsAlot · 12/12/2020 21:56

i think its a great thing good that you got it and thanks for all you do

Silvercatowner · 12/12/2020 21:56

Is the second dose exactly the same as the first? Ordoes it need to be different? Just interested...

Frequentflier · 12/12/2020 21:59

So good to hear. Thank you for posting. Need a bit of hope to get me through the next few months.

foodtoorder · 12/12/2020 22:01

@silvercatowner it has to be the same type. I obviously had the pzifer vaccine so would need to have the same again when I go back even if other vaccines are available

Great news!

BungleandGeorge · 12/12/2020 22:02

@Chalfontstgiles

Question OP...because the vaccine is stored at very cold temps, does it feel freezing when injected or not? Just curious really! 😁
😳it’s thawed otherwise you’d get a necrotic arm. Think of what happens when people get frostbite..
PleaseLetIanBeDead · 12/12/2020 22:02

Was you asked if you have any allergies?

ViciousJackdaw · 12/12/2020 22:03

I'm delighted for you and yes, thanks for the thread! It makes me feel like we will be turning a corner soon. I've already got my sleeve rolled up in anticipation of mine Grin
