Bad news for anyone who was hoping to get away next year :(

It is to do with Brexit as we will no longer be treated as an EU member state.

However, it is worth noting that Bavaria has closed its borders to the Czech Republic (EU member state) because of covid.

Therefore, it has much more to do with covid. I doubt that it will last very long given we've started vaccinating people.

tara66 · 10/12/2020 11:09

I can hardly bare to look at any British politicians on TV at the moment - how did we get these people?

Zilla1 · 10/12/2020 11:09

Stop focusing on the negative like some moaning minnie, captain hindsight, fear monger, OP. The fish will taste even sweeter, well the fish that the UK buy and eat (cod, haddock and the other three?). Not sure about the fish that would have needed to be sold in the EU. Still the fish will taste sweeter, the air smell cleaner. Cake shops beware.

Hellotheresweet · 10/12/2020 11:10

You’re being really irresponsible in your inflammatory title OP

You missed two very important words

AlexaShutUp · 10/12/2020 11:11

This is all due to people not believing enough in Brexit.

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow

I don’t. I think Europe hates Britain at the moment. I know l do and l’m British.
Yes, I think this is correct.
GotTheWrongBook · 10/12/2020 11:11

Hysteria

Zilla1 · 10/12/2020 11:12

@GroundAlmonds, is there a better spelling? I remember good old British coster mongers, fish mongers and so on. Well before we joined the EU who probably were involved in the eradication of coster mongers. Now we are sovereign, we can bring back the good old British coster monger. And green grocers on every doorstep.

MayDayHelp · 10/12/2020 11:12

I’m glad I posted now, it’s good to be reminded of all the good things to come. I was going to take the dc to Disneyland Paris at Easter but instead I’ll rally them to have a tea party in the garden, with scones and Union Jack bunting, and just celebrate being part of our wonderful nation. They’ll definitely be just as happy with that I reckon.

And I’m sure Boris wouldn’t have lied to us about his oven ready brexit deal. I think he’s just hustling us and he’s going to wow us all on Christmas Day with it, making it the best Christmas ever. That’s definitely going to happen.

Sadly, our compatriots voted them in. I guess people get the governments that they deserve.

Alethiometrical · 10/12/2020 11:12

It's what Brexiteers voted for.

Zilla1 · 10/12/2020 11:13

OP, don't forget the Festival of (Brexit) Britain. Not sure when it will be but it will be the best ever. It will heal.

@Zilla1 I promise you I’m really trying to get excited for the fish...but I don’t eat meat or fish so I’m struggling with that a bit.

She hasn’t responded to either of us, so perhaps she already knew (you’d expect her to) & was just making a point? smile

I was just offline for a while! I'm aware about travel in "normal times", but wasn't sure how this applies to the covid-specific bans on travel.

Zilla1 · 10/12/2020 11:14

Who could have predicted an oven-ready deal, the easiest deal ever, would be sabotaged by the spiteful EU? They don't know what's in their own interests and don't listen when we tell them. Fortunately, the German car manufacturers will sort it out.

Each country needs to claw back money as their businesses are in bad shape (like ours) They will not stop holiday makers as they keep the countries running with the financial contributions.

But we hold all the cards.
Zilla1 · 10/12/2020 11:16

OP, well there are many more benefits to sovereignty than just fish......

Buccaneering deals I tell you. We'll be able to import quinoa, chickpeas (whatever you veggies eat) that will test better.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/12/2020 11:16

Who else heard story this morning (BBC radio?) about the English guy who had cancer treatment in last 5 years ... after Brexit he's looking at £800 medical insurance cost to travel to EU for 2 weeks

But surely he'd have needed insurance before this? - unless he was relying on an EHIC card, which with complex health needs would have been a very risky thing to do

MayDayHelp · 10/12/2020 11:17

Right again @zilla1, they’re just a childish bunch of meanies them EU.

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow

Ground almonds, l hate what the country has become. Inward, isolationist, tantrumming, divided, self important, archaic, ‘little England’

I love some of the people and scones and scenery and it’s history. I hate it’s bigotary and racism.

Me too.
ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/12/2020 11:17

Yeah Festival of Brexit. When the country is in deepest debt ever. Book early👍🏻😏

Alethiometrical · 10/12/2020 11:17

@MayDayHelp Yes, that's the spirit, Jolly good, wot! Grin

Meanwhile, I'm heading to the supermarket to stock up on the essentials which come via the rest of Europe.

todayIdrankmilk · 10/12/2020 11:18

I do wonder if loaded brexiteers will be happy that they cannot have fancy sun or ski holidays ?

Or maybe they will be happy because they can sit in an armchair all day at home staring at their new shiny blue passport? Xmas Hmm
