Does anyone think london will go in to tier 3 before Xmas?

No of course they won't. If you're in tier 3 hospitality is closed

Waxonwaxoff0 · 14/12/2020 16:26

@Chewbecca no, they won't.

RedToothBrush · 14/12/2020 16:30

@Chewbecca

Stupid question but will restaurants reopen for the 5 days of Christmas if you're in Tier 3? Assuming not. Feel sorry for anyone who had a booking to eat out and now has to cook.
Visiting bars, pubs and restaurants From 2 December, the rules on who you can meet with in bars, pubs and restaurants will depend on your tier. The rules might be different for indoor and outdoor hospitality settings. Check the rules for your tier.

Between 23 and 27 December, the rules on who you can meet in bars, pubs and restaurants will not change.

Although there are exemptions for work purposes, you must not have a work Christmas lunch or party, where that is a primarily social activity and is not otherwise permitted by the rules in your tier.

So the answer is, yes your Christmas Dinner out is cancelled. However you could still have it as a takeaway.

It does make sense, I know! But as a tier 3 first timer, still working these things out!
Thank you.

myhobbyisouting · 14/12/2020 16:58

@Chewbecca you're lucky.

Basically, shops are open, schools are open, you should be working from home, you can get a haircut. That's it.

HeronLanyon · 14/12/2020 17:03

So sorry to everyone affected particularly by this. I’m in central london and have lost track of when we here last had this level of restrictions ? Lost track because I’ve basically been following March rules anyway. I am so sorry for everyone working in hospitality and non essential shops etc. Now of all times !

myhobbyisouting · 14/12/2020 17:20

@HeronLanyon no shops have to close in tier 3

HeronLanyon · 14/12/2020 17:22

my hobby sorry I got that wrong. ! Confused and been behaving pretty much the same since March so v wrong there. Apols all.

I think we need to save our rage for the people who are doing exactly what they like. The young people crowding outside Harrods, the people choosing not to wear masks because they dont like them (not because they are exempt). The households mixing, the underground parties. People who think the rules are for others or are who hate this government so much they think they can do what they like.

What on earth is happening in Wales. The First Minister thought it was the pubs doing it and closed them yet the rates are through the roof. Is it now clear its households mixing?

The old guy in the supermarket who had a dirty mask hanging off his face with his nose poking out this afternoon and what seemed like a hacking cough. I know, he probably didnt realise but that doesnt mean he isnt a risk to others just because he isnt capable of following policies.

InsanityOf2020 · 14/12/2020 18:30

I predict they will be on wednesday. Came to me in a flash... a newsflash on my phone

NeedToKnow101 · 14/12/2020 18:32

I think it definitely will.. .. (lol in a non-humorous way).

Youngatheart00 · 14/12/2020 20:37

So....there we are then. Surprised at the speed but can’t disagree it’s needed (and I live in London). Too many people pushing the boundaries. Shops are still a big problem though.

willsantausesantatize · 15/12/2020 08:19

Tier 3 in most places won't achieve that much ( apart from hospitality taking a huge hit again) because schools are still open and non essential shops spreading the old and the new virus strain about. It's all just lip service.
I feel for the pubs and restaurant workers being made scapegoats here especially as schools are not safe whatever the government might say or want kept quiet.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 15/12/2020 08:24

From what I’ve seen pubs and restaurants are the safest places outside the home and yet the government has deemed them the most dangerous, based on zero evidence.

It’s mental.

willsantausesantatize · 15/12/2020 08:32

They keep the school children apart all day. as much as they can. Then they go home with their younger siblings and the older ones meet up with friends outside or go onto germ ridden buses and trains with everyone else!
It's so hard and Christmas will be ruined for so many because schools are staying open this week. I haven't the answers , but I can't blame parents for keeping them off this week.

Youngatheart00 · 15/12/2020 08:39

Agree with what others have said about schools and shops. And the reality is a lot of people will gather in homes rather in hospitality settings. Perhaps less so in London as less people live in close proximity to friends and more likely to gather in the centre, but there are certainly those that do that. There are still far too many who think the rules just don’t apply to them.
