Did anyone watch the poverty and covid report? It was incredibly sad, people living in absolutely awful circumstances. There was no SD/mask wearing,. An utterly depressing watch.

I felt so miserable watching the people suffering and the vicars in tears, trying to cope with the pressure they’re under. How many times are we going to be told about the extra money for universal credit in response to that film, I wonder?

It was utterly miserable - it was almost unbelievable to think people live like that.
No SD in place, which was really worrying.

I said at the beginning of this pandemic that if this had happened when I was a child then I would of been screwed,
Lack of money for food, and gas and electricity..never mind hand gel, masks, anti bac and bleach plus no money for home schooling.
I could really sympathise with what I saw tonight.
It was heartbreaking

Lockdowns harm the poor the most don’t they. Pretty fucking powerful.

Wow. That’s sobering. I wish that could be shown on repeat - and the only channel available - to the non believers and politicians, who think there is enough money for food and no one needs to go hungry.

That's just awful no words really for how sad and desperate there lives are, it shouldn't be like that in this country

I'd like to force Boris and his shit show of a cabinet to watch this.

Multi billion pound rule breaking contracts for mates, but had to be forced into FSM. And EVERY time any one of them is asked about people falling through the cracks they will never engage - just repeat the things they have done and refuse to acknowledge what they haven't.

Heart-breaking, so distressing.

It's disgusting how Westminster is leaving so much of particularly the north of the country to rot.

No offence, but I’m assuming you’re from a middle class family (not a criticism or anything, please don’t take it the wrong way). I’ve worked with families like this throughout this whole Pandemic and it may be that the dreadful circumstances some of them are going through, that SD and masks are actually the last thing in their mind. It’s heartbreaking the situations people are currently in.

Yes it did make me feel privileged- I was quite shocked by it Tbh which makes me feel a bit ashamed.
I’ve work in the nhs and at one point I worked at the London, I’m haunted by some of the things I heard there. Well done to the bbc. We’ve gone badly wrong with education and investment in people and places.
I was angry at this government before, now I feel sickened, appreciate it’s many governments before too. I want to do something to help.

I've just watched that. I'm shocked, I feel sick at the thought. This country is in such a mess.

If you're in favour of lockdown then you're in favour of making poor people suffer. There's no point in being shocked about it.

I watched it and it was as described above - truly depressing. However, as also noted above, it's an almost inevitable consequence of the policies pursued to contain the virus, particularly under a government that couldn't care less about people at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder.

Lockdown or no lockdown, it’s poor people that suffer most in a pandemic, same as the rest of the time. If you’re in favour of neoliberal capitalism, you’re also in favour of making poor people suffer.

I cried and then tried to volunteer for our local food bank. Apparently they are overwhelmed with help. So I’m topping up my food shop with treats for the food bank instead.

It is possible to implement lockdown AND fund essential financial support for the most vulnerable, but it costs! This government has decided that lockdown = making poor people suffer whilst spending vast amounts of funding failed initiatives headed up by cronies.

People in this country really need to rethink their attitude to taxation and stop electing fuckwits.

Lockdown saved lives, but there should have been greater support for those already in poverty. It was shocking on many levels. Maybe we needed a shock. I had very humble origins and it shocked me so I imagine some people would be completely unaware of how some people live.

After watching Hospital on BBC 2 last night and then this segment on the BBC news, it just about finished me off..
Utterly depressing to see such suffering and poverty in a rich country.

I get so angry seeing peoples lives being so devalued during this pandemic.

Lockdown didn't save lives. At best, it delayed deaths from covid. At the same time it caused other deaths.

Watching that was utterly heartbreaking, but one good thing to come out of it is that, when I get my fuel allowance very soon I will be donating it to homeless charities and food banks.
