Did anyone watch the poverty and covid report? It was incredibly sad, people living in absolutely awful circumstances. There was no SD/mask wearing,. An utterly depressing watch.

Lockdowns are a great excuse to finally finish off the poor and vulnerable. This has been the view since March, and not just in the U.K.

Donating to a food bank is good, but if we want our rights and freedoms back at some point we need to protest.

Avoiding lockdowns do not protect the economy, controlling the virus protects the economy. theconversation.com/data-from-45-countries-show-containing-covid-vs-saving-the-economy-is-a-false-dichotomy-150533

Those ranting about lockdowns are aiming at the wrong target.

The problems are different - starting with a very unequal society and an incompetent government who locked down too late and reopened too slowly. Then there was the stupidity of ignoring the experts who said we needed a stockpile of PPE. Add the stupidity of running down the health service, without realising that the functioning of society depends on good health care. You cant operate society without healthy people in essential jobs.

You could more or less sum this sum as the stories ideology is directly responsible, please remember this next time you vote.

Obviously controlling it would have caused less damage to the economy! In countries like Australia and NZ life and the economy are functioning fairly normally now. The problem we have is that our Government made a deliberate decision not to control it and prevent it becoming endemic. That has never been the aim of their lockdowns as they have stated publicly, repeatedly. Therefore we end up with the worst of both worlds: one of the worst recessions of any country in the developed world and one of the highest death rates per capita.
