My husband and me have both come down with a cough. And hes got a bit of a temperature so we've arranged to get two tests done tomorrow.. the problem is we have a 3 month old baby and we are running very low on formula. I got paid today so the plan was to nip to asda or tesco like we usually do on payday and top up. Obviously we may not have covid but we are trying to follow the guidance. We have no immediate family in the area and no friends who drive or live this way. No delivery slots at any of the supermarkets. Looked on deliveroo and ubereats and for starters the delivery fee is at least 4 pound, I know its not a lot but when your husband is furloughed again and im on maternity every penny counts but also the milk is an extra four pound. Its 8 pound for cow and gate in the supermarket, 12 pound on the deliveroo supermarkets. Im not here to complain and im not here to start a debate. I just dont know what to do. Me and my husband have food in. But my little girl has hardly any. Please don't slate me for running low on milk. Were leaving payday to payday as it is.

Glad you’re all sorted! Hoping for a negative test result for you too!

WankPuffins · 14/11/2020 16:50

But what about other people’s daughters that your actions could kill. Are they not important?

Oh for heavens sake.

Orchidflower1 · 14/11/2020 16:54

Hi @blvdbrokendreams hope you and you DH are feeling a bit better.

Not necessarily for now but amazon do nappies on a repeat order where you get a discount. It make help save a few pennies plus delivered to your door. I’m not sure if they do milk as we don’t need that anymore.

blvdbrokendreams · 14/11/2020 16:58

@Orchidflower1 thank you! I didn't even think of amazon doing nappies but ill have a look now

@youre very welcome- how are you feeling?

blvdbrokendreams · 14/11/2020 17:01

@Orchidflower1 I feel hungover without the memories of the night before 😂😂 just very achy and a bit of a cough. I always get a chest infection this time of the year but ill wait for my results. Husbands having a whinge about it. Babies not bothered. We have enough in for us all for 2 weeks. Be hard explaining to the dog where his walkies have gone

Nobody put's other people's children above their own, what a ridiculous thing to say.

WoodYewBee · 14/11/2020 17:18

i think we are all missing the point of this thread!!

op has repeatedly said ...they are down on income....4 pound 4 pound 4pound

Vargas · 14/11/2020 17:22

But what about other people’s daughters that your actions could kill. Are they not important?

Oh FFS, how ridiculous.

StealthPolarBear · 14/11/2020 17:22

Glad you're sorted. Another one saying if I saw this sort of thing on a local site I'd have happily done it, no questions or judgement. Assuming you're not on with the same sob story every fortnight this is the sort of situation we could all imagine ourselves in.

WoodYewBee · 14/11/2020 17:25

hey op @blvdbrokendreams

what dog do you have?

blvdbrokendreams · 14/11/2020 17:26

Unfortunately by the time I posted and realised we both had been coughing it was pushing 8 o clock at night. And people did offer to help but not till today. In laws have messaged us and are gonna send us a box of 6 of milk so were always ahead now so if it does happen again we should be 2 weeks or so ahead. It happens. I did the best I could in the circumstances. I wouldn't just bob out for a chocolate bar but she is the most important in this scenario

OP posts:
blvdbrokendreams · 14/11/2020 17:26

@WoodYewBee a very stubborn staff cross border collie

OP posts:
blvdbrokendreams · 14/11/2020 17:27

Took him in from our inlaws when they moved to a smaller house. Same breed as our last dog funnily enough

OP posts:
WoodYewBee · 14/11/2020 17:29

if you are struggling to this point why did you take on a dog to add to the expense?

StealthPolarBear · 14/11/2020 17:31

I'm guessing that was before her husband was furloughed

Motnight · 14/11/2020 17:32

This is the reality of COVID. Some people have no choice but to break the rules. Op hope all is ok with you.

blvdbrokendreams · 14/11/2020 17:32

Because we took him in in July. When my husband was working. When I didnt know we were going to be lockdown again? I lost my dog in June of this year. We were doing absolutely fine on maternity and my husbands wage. Then he got furloughed again. Didnt actually see that coming. I dont see what my dog has to do with this situation.

HalfTermHalfTerm · 14/11/2020 17:33

hey op @blvdbrokendreams**

what dog do you have?

if you are struggling to this point why did you take on a dog to add to the expense?

What was the point of asking what breed the dog was if you only wanted to make that unhelpful comment?

SaltyAF · 14/11/2020 17:34

I would definitely have done the same in those circumstances. Covid has resulted in a massive compassion vacuum.

WankPuffins · 14/11/2020 17:37

@blvdbrokendreams don’t feel you have to defend yourself to people. Circumstances change all the time.

I think some posters on here would like us all to live in a skip, have no children or pets ever just incase circumstances change. They are the same people who would probably ask someone feeling DV why they had children with them.

I hope you both feel better soon x

cheeseychovolate · 14/11/2020 17:39

You had no other option but to go and get your baby some milk, I've followed the rules all along but if I were in your situation I would have done the same.

blvdbrokendreams · 14/11/2020 17:41

Thank you for all the kind comments.
