Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

@Llioed I lost my smell 16 days ago and haven't got even a smidge of it back , it is so depressing

Ah really?? Thank you for letting me know.
Today marks 3 days since I lost both smell and taste. Having said that, in the grand scheme of things I can't complain because there are people suffering much worse from Covid-19.
Hope you get your smell back soon!

PositivelyConfused23 · 03/11/2020 17:18

So do I isolate 10 days including the day of my symptoms or is it 10 days with the day after being day one? Kind of confused

SheilaTakeABow · 03/11/2020 17:54

@ItMustBeBedtimeSurely, the terror is the worst, isn't it?! No amount of rational thinking works in the middle of the night.
I can still vaguely smell some things, but I can't taste anything but really sweet, it's the strangest sensation (or lack of Grin)

ScottishDream · 03/11/2020 19:23

@ItMustBeBedtimeSurely @SheilaTakeABow late night panicking chat? I’ll be on here full of anxiety later.

@cherrytreeblossom @Llioed I’ve been doing some reading, and the loss of smell can last up to 3 weeks. Covid damages the cells that support the olfactory nerves, and they have to regrow.

Ideal time to start the diet maybe? I’m not tempted to snack at all as nothing tastes good.

Symptoms here tonight, chlorine sinus, some sneezing/congestion, a very occasional chesty cough, and minor headache/aches. Not taken any painkillers all day but I’ll have some before bedtime.

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 03/11/2020 19:37

You sounds similar to me @ScottishDream, symptom wise, I'm really not feeling too awful at all. Dh is worse, we're awaiting his test result at the moment, he's a couple of days behind me but is much more tired and flu-ey.

Kudostoyou · 03/11/2020 19:44

Hello everyone, I tested positive on the 26th, my son was a close contact of a child in preschool, I’ve actually felt fine up until this evening, I’ve just suddenly started to feel kinda shaky and a little dizzy, I’m not sure of it’s the stress of it all, sorry feeling a little frightened now Confused

ScottishDream · 03/11/2020 20:52

@Kudostoyou remember you only ever hear the worst case stories in the media. If you had a positive test on 26th you’ve probably cleared the virus from your system already.
Make yourself a hot drink and watch something mindless numbing on TV, or post here and tell us what you’ve been up to today x

CanThisBeOverSoon · 03/11/2020 21:44

@Kudostoyou I am on day 15 now so pretty much over it but I suffered with really bad dizziness, lightheaded and feeling weak. I just stayed in bed and drank lots of water and that helped but it did make me feel really anxious

Kudostoyou · 03/11/2020 22:06

Thank you ScottishDream and CanThisBeOverSoon, I hope you are both doing well at the moment. I basically went to bed after my weird spell, I wasn’t doing anything too exciting today, looking after my two kids, my DS seems to be getting over it, he’s only 3 it’s so hard to tell. He seems less cranky, my husband is also positive, he feels like he has a cold but unfortunately he has an serious underlying condition that worries me so much. Maybe it was just an accumulation of stress that caused it, it’s so hard to know. I just really worry that both myself and my husband will get so sick we won’t be able to look after the children properly, only 3 and 6. Probably catastrophysing a bit...., it’s my biggest fear. I was hoping that I was going to be of those asymptotic people you hear about....anyhow we got the kids to sleep pretty early and I’m just watching Bridget Joans The Edge of Reason to take my mind off things

That Daniel Cleaver is such a rat!!

ScottishDream · 03/11/2020 22:34

@Kudostoyou good choice of film. DH is watching something on Netflix, I’m lying in bed reading trashy fiction. Really quite tired but I’ve got such a congested blocked up nose it’s hard to sleep. Urgh.

PrivateD00r · 03/11/2020 22:41

Thank you for the best wishes! I have been feeling very sorry for myself today! Can I ask, how long did it take for it to spread round your houses? I have tried to distance from the family to a degree, but not totally, couldn't do that to the dc! None seem to have symptoms so far. Wondering if its possible that they won't?

itmustbebedtime, I am the same, see hospitalised cases in work then think that is what cv looks like.... it is reassuring to see the varying degrees of it here! I have a pulse oximeter and my sats are generally good at 98, but I tend to get very breathless for an hour in the evenings and they dip to 86, but I can bring it up to 95 with deep breathing. The oximeter really helps.

I just got a positive result. Feel very anxious about it all. I had a headache on friday then came on period 2 weeks early but it hasnt really been like a normal period. Been achey since sunday night and got a positive result this evening. I have a feeling i wont be able to sleep tonight 🤒😫

SheilaTakeABow · 04/11/2020 08:57

Hey @minimonkey11, sorry nobody was around to reply last night. How are you feeling today? The panic is the worst part for me too, and then obviously that in itself plays havoc with your breathing. Do you have people in the house with you?

How's everyone else?

ScottishDream · 04/11/2020 12:34

@minimonkey11 I hope you have a mild case.

I feel much the same as yesterday. Bit headachey, bit congested. Absolutely no sense of smell. I’m snotty and sneezing too, which I thought wasn’t a Covid symptom.

Very bored of being stuck in.

minimonkey11 · 04/11/2020 12:46

Thanks all. I feel ok to be honest. Im hoping this is the worst it gets! Hope you are all ok

PrivateD00r · 04/11/2020 12:58

Aw bless you. Lots of people seem to get by with very minor symptoms, so try and not panic Flowers
PrivateD00r · 04/11/2020 13:00

Anyone else have awful nausea? That has been the most unexpected symptom for me. I wish I could just vomit and move on!

Scottish, that seems a good sign that you are bored? Hopefully you are on the mend Flowers

Sheila, how are you doing?

SheilaTakeABow · 04/11/2020 13:22

I had a scary few hours earlier, felt very tight chested (did I mention I have asthma and am terrified Grin), but a bath and some chicken soup helped. I think it's more fatigue than actual shortness of breath, as my peak flow and oxygen levels are totally normal.
@PrivateD00r, it's funny you should say that about nausea. I have it now, but it's been with me since last Wednesday - like permanent car sickness, even when not travelling. So if that was the start of it, I'm further on than expected (yay), and it's an absolute miracle nobody else in the family has it.
@ScottishDream, I've almost forgotten what the outside world is like - and when we are allowed out, it'll be into another lockdown Confused
And for anyone struggling to eat, may I heartily recommend chicken soup - I could taste about 1% of normal but it was so soothing!

SheilaTakeABow · 04/11/2020 13:25

Can I also ask how people are isolating at home? If I'm out of my room, I've been wearing a mask which obviously isn't great for breathing in the circumstances, and my wonderful older DS is doing a lot of entertaining little DS.
Also, DH is in the spare room, but I feel quite vulnerable sleeping alone (pathetic!)

PrivateD00r · 04/11/2020 13:48

Sheila, dh is still sleeping in our bed (he insists!) but I am staying mostly in our room during the day. The dc and dh regularly pop their heads in for a chat. So we aren't being anywhere near as careful as we should be, but it is hard to strike a balance with the dc as we don't want them worrying...

Car sickness is exactly how I feel!

SheilaTakeABow · 04/11/2020 14:16

Yes, Private, it's the balance that's tricky. Luckily the DC have put their differences aside today and have been playing Minecraft together happily for ages (any limits of screen time are completely out the window), so I'm having a lovely lie down.
I do wonder if the nausea was the start, and big DS had it too...
