Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

All those symptoms come up when you input your positive result so even though they aren’t one of the three they are still recognised symptoms.

peaches1991 · 23/12/2020 23:07

@CuckooSings I'm also a teacher and would definitely err on the side of caution and go with the first cold like symptoms. I had cold symptoms as well on top of temperature - didn't have a cough or loss of smell/taste.

Mxflamingnoravera · 23/12/2020 23:40

I'm waiting on a test result... could be tomorrow or later... either way, it's terrifying, I'm 60, but fit and not overweight, doesn't make it less scary though.

Friolero · 24/12/2020 05:33

I've just tested positive.
Symptoms so far are a headache, sore throat and tickly cough, and generally aching a bit.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 24/12/2020 09:01

Day 9 today. Still incredibly exhausted. I actually scared myself earlier as I briefly thought how nice it would be to just drift off and not wake up again. Went to a very dark place and did not like that but I’m just struggling to cope right now. There just seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. Nausea also came back so I made myself sick just to get it over with. Felt worse. Now in bed again and might go to sleep.
Just wondering at what point I should phone for help? I’m not coughing, I don’t have breathing difficulties, or anything like that. I’m just not getting any better and just feel weaker and weaker every day. It’s scary

girlofthenorth · 24/12/2020 09:47

@AHippoNamedBooBooButt the surgeries are open so why don't you give them a call just for some advice . Then you might be more reassured. The fatigue can be crippling can't it ? I don't think I've felt that like you , it's mainly my chest but feeling exhausted also but can get up and make food etc .
Try and drink loads , are you able to get up at all ? Have a walk around ? Big hug BiscuitThanks

balloon27 · 24/12/2020 10:23

Day 13 since positive test
Thought I was over it but woken up today with a sore chest think I'm going to have to take it easy! hope everyone's doing ok xx

NotAnotherBoxOfThorntons · 25/12/2020 00:07

Has anyone been fit and healthy and really struggled with the cough/sore chest? I tested positive this morning and I have a hacking cough that feels like I'm being stabbed in the chest each time I move/cough.

Anything I can take to help relieve it?

Jenifirtree · 25/12/2020 00:15

My chest was only sore for a day. Youd think theyd add headache to the list, reading this thread. The headache has been the worst symptom for me so far. And the sneezing / Runny nose.

girlofthenorth · 26/12/2020 13:05

@NotAnotherBoxOfThorntons have you tried inhalation's and maybe some codeine ?

girlofthenorth · 26/12/2020 13:06

@Jenifirtree headache here too, though I think it's from all the coughing @balloon27 how are you feeling today ?
@AHippoNamedBooBooButt how are you ? Hope you managed to get through Christmas Day , have been thinking about you and if you're ok .

ShopoholicIn · 26/12/2020 13:29

Day 8 here. Can't believe this fever is still going on. I tried steam and it helped. Nausea has subsided but as with fever don't know for how long.
@girlofthenorth, @AHippoNamedBooBooButt how are you both doing?

Tumbleweed101 · 26/12/2020 13:43

I'm a little puzzled as my daughter got her positive test yesterday and mine was negative. I'm the one with the really bad cough and tight chest!

I had a nasty headache thur and fri last week, the blocked, runny nose and cold symptoms over the weekend. Then felt better. A cough and tiredness kicked in on weds and has carried on since.

Was I too late testing so I'm coming out the other side of showing being infectious? Was it just a cold and I'm about to get Covid on top of it??

My dd is ok, only tested for work, but does have mild cold symptoms.

Tumbleweed101 · 26/12/2020 13:44

Didn't have temp or loss of smell and cough only started on weds but got worse from then.

Cluckadoodledoo75 · 26/12/2020 13:48

I posted a while back, am here to offer hope for everyone :) j am on day 21 today and have been out of bed for 3 days and even managed a slow walk around Sainsbury's for essentials Xmas Eve- to the poster who went to a dark place, I went there too and was honestly lying in bed thinking in great detail that I'd like it to just stop now and how nice it would be to just not wake up anymore. I think in hindsight I was delirious as hadn't eaten anything or drunk more than half a glass of water a day for almost 3 weeks as I was just sleeping 24/7 - I slept for 17/18 days straight other than when paramedics came and I went to hospital for an X-ray. Antibiotics helped my chest as I was coughing up blood which maybe sped up my recovery a bit and I do feel exhausted still and am signed off work for another 10 days which will make it a whole month as I can't walk more than 5 minutes without feeling lightheaded but I am definitely feeling more with it now and even have my sense of smell and about 60% of my taste back :D hang in there xx

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 26/12/2020 16:09

Thank you @girlofthenorth and @ShopoholicIn I feel like I’m Christmas Eve evening I turned a corner and for the first time in over a week, felt I could be getting better. I managed to wrap some presents and watched an entire film and started being able to walk around the house for more then one minute. I am still incredibly weak, horizontal is still the default position! But I no longer get light headed just going to the loo and don’t require a nap afterwards which is a win. Nausea turned into quite back sickness yesterday though so I only managed a very small baked potato yesterday. Still baby steps. It’s day 11 now, and I’m starting to believe that in a few days I might be able to manage getting dressed. That is the next goal.
Thank you @Cluckadoodledoo75 it’s good to hear there is light at the end of this tunnel. I’ve already decided I’m going to get myself signed off work as I really don’t want to go back for a while. I work in a school (so no guesses where I picked this is from!) so I’m still off for another week anyway. But I’m also scared to return back to the same environment, with no protection and to feel so unsafe. It’s just such a slow recovery process I but I do feel I’m on the, very very slow, mend.
Merry Christmas to all

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 26/12/2020 16:10

Oh and I do apologise for my terrible spelling and grammar right now. The Brain fog is real! Lol

eastegg · 26/12/2020 16:22

Wishing you the best for your continued recovery cluck. You have obviously had a terrible time. It serves as an example of how awful this virus can be even without hospital admission. I hope the after effects aren't too bad for you.

froggydoggy · 30/12/2020 09:56

Hi everyone can I join please? I got my positive test result last night, have had a slight cough since Boxing Day, my teen since xmas day which got worse on Sunday night, he has asthma, my dd is clinically vulnerable, so far she's just had a temperature which is now under control. I'm terrified.

Not sure when do count how many days in I am, should it be from when I developed a cough? I had itchy eyes/cold like symptoms from 23rd/24th and haven't seen anyone new since last Tuesday.

Ozzie9523 · 30/12/2020 18:56

Can I join please? Positive result this morning, have no idea where I caught it. No symptoms yet, have had it at least 6 days.

KirstyHasLeft · 30/12/2020 19:16

Can I join too? Got positive test results today.
First, my 5-year old got cold on Christmas eve. By Boxing day I felt really unwell too. But I thought it's the cold and/or hangover.
I am now lying in bed, exhausted and with no sense of smell or taste. I hope it goes away soon. Hold tight, everyone!

colouringindoors · 31/12/2020 00:00

HollyGenneroMcClane · 31/12/2020 00:31

@colouringindoors

hi day 5 here. Worst headache of my life. Anyone have any suggestions please???
Mine too. I didnt want to risk standing up as i thought id fall down. Paracetamol to tKs the edge off.
Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 31/12/2020 00:53

If you're not already doing so it would be great if you could complete the Kings College Zoe app. They would be very interested to hear of all the different symptoms people are experiencing

KirstyHasLeft · 31/12/2020 09:29

I'm on day 6, and I'm having a lowish fever 37.7C. Should I let it run for a while to let my body fight, or should I keep taking paracetamol?
