Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

@ScottishDream, same. I had something much more obviously respiratory over Easter, and always assumed that was it. Had frequent relapses too, but, no testing Hmm
Now I have a banging headache and back pain, with altered taste and smell as my main symptoms, although I do feel a little tight-chested.
How is everyone else this morning?
Oh, and how effectively are you managing to isolate in the home? DH has just tested negative and has to work today, so I'm going to have to parent from a distance

ScottishDream · 02/11/2020 08:44

@SheilaTakeABow you’ve just described my symptoms perfectly.
DH is hiding in his office working, I’m downstairs with lots of windows opens and the TV on for the children.
I’m hoping they don’t get it again but assume they probably will.

PositivelyConfused23 · 02/11/2020 11:07

Is everyone going back to work after the 10 days of isolation? My 10 days are up on Wednesday but my job is physically demanding so don't really know what to do

BloomedAgain · 02/11/2020 11:27

Has anyone done a postal self test and if so what's it like? I've woken up with a high temp and cough. Very dizzy. There's no way I could safely drive to a test centre.

BloomedAgain · 02/11/2020 11:27

*No way

slummymummy35 · 02/11/2020 11:41

I’ve just got a positive test result. Feel like I’ve got a really bad head cold - fuzzy head, ringing ears and absolutely no taste or smell. Hope everyone is ok x

SheilaTakeABow · 02/11/2020 12:00

@BloomedAgain, I did a postal test earlier on in this shitshow. Was fine, but it did delay things - waiting for it to be delivered, waiting for it to be collected, waiting for result. The drive-through was back in less than a day, but the site is extremely local to me so driving wasn't an issue.

BloomedAgain · 02/11/2020 12:09

Thanks @sheilatakesabow. Is it the same swab up nose/down throat routine?

Dustballs · 02/11/2020 12:09

No, mine was a tickly cough which was only the first couple of nights. Then a full on head cold with blocked nose and sneezing like mad.
I only went for a test because of the kidney pains.

I've had all of this in the same order except for the kidney pains. I've felt really unwell too - sweating but no temperature. It's gone on for over a week now - but when I apply for a test it tells me I'm not eligible (even though I've ticked loss of taste and smell - tbf this could be normal cold loss of taste and smell as I'm really blocked)

SheilaTakeABow · 02/11/2020 12:20

Yes, @BloomedAgain, exactly the same procedure Smile
@Dustballs, I started with a sporadic tickly cough, followed by banging headache. Lied on the form and said I had a temperature, as without it said I wasn't eligible. So no wonder the virus is spreading like it is...

ScottishDream · 02/11/2020 12:23

Anyone got else got the weird/dry feeling sinuses? Almost a powdery feeling inside my head.

I’m going to keep drinking loads of water, and DH has emerged from his office to heat up some chicken soup for lunch.

Made the children run around the garden for half an hour in between rain showers. DD is happily reading in her bedroom, DS is now bored.

ContemplatingLife435 · 02/11/2020 12:37

Dp has had a really bad sinus headache for four days, he tested positive on Tuesday so think sinus issues are common

OP posts:
SheilaTakeABow · 02/11/2020 12:43

DH also has bad sinuses, but then he always does and has tested negative.
My nose is quite bunged up and I have an altered sense of smell - similar to chlorine

ScottishDream · 02/11/2020 14:28

@SheilaTakeABow good way to describe it. A bit like chlorine.

If I don’t think about it I mostly feel fine if a bit run down. If I start worrying though I’m convinced a can’t breath/am going to end up in hospital.

I’m very bad at being ill.

BloomedAgain · 02/11/2020 14:41

Thanks. My postal test is ordered. I also smell chlorine. I can taste ok but can't taste sweetness. Hope my fever comes down!

SheilaTakeABow · 02/11/2020 14:55

Yep, I have dreadful health anxiety at the best of times, and my frenetic Googling of worst case scenarios is not helping Grin
I can still vaguely smell, albeit chlorine-y, and my sense of taste is a bit off - can only really taste sweet things.
I hope you feel better soon @BloomedAgain, and your test arrives promptly.

Dustballs · 02/11/2020 14:58

"So no wonder the virus is spreading like it is..."

Yes @SheilaTakeABow - no wonder the virus is spreading.

I've just been in the library and a man was working on a computer next to me. I was stood next to him for ages looking for books - he was coughing. I tried not to worry.

Then he went over to a librarian and said he was having trouble booking a Covid test. It wasn't working for him. He needed help.

The librarian tried to help him. She was asking if someone had told him to have a test and he said that they had as he had some - or one (I can't remember) of the main symptoms.

Honestly - it just felt surreal.

Dustballs · 02/11/2020 14:58

Sorry - the bit I missed was that the system was telling him he couldn't have a test - I presume because he only had one symptom??? I have no idea.

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 02/11/2020 15:11

@SheilaTakeABow
DH has just tested negative and has to work today, so I'm going to have to parent from a distance
I presume he has already completed 14 days self isolation if you are positive? He shouldn't be going to work if not

SheilaTakeABow · 02/11/2020 15:15

@Dustballs, it's crackers isn't it?
@Needcoffeecoffeecoffee, yes, well aware of the 14-day isolation period. He works from home and has done since the start of the pandemic.

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 02/11/2020 15:25

Glad to hear it. I think when you said parenting from a distance for you I presumed you were home alone. Unfortunately lots of workplaces think they can ask for a negative test to circumnavigate the 14 days.

Hope you feel better soon and get to enjoy something savoury!

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 02/11/2020 15:32

Sorry the "glad to hear it" sounded arsey but didnt mean it that way. Just meant "oh that's good" sorry was distracted by a breastfeeding baby (mine not someone else's!!)

SheilaTakeABow · 02/11/2020 15:34

@Needcoffeecoffeecoffee. Yeah, you're right, there are an awful lot of people not doing things properly, so I should have clarified. Apologies, I probably sounded arsey too Smile

SheilaTakeABow · 02/11/2020 15:36

And I also realise how lucky we both are to be able to easily work from home, and for me to have DH around when I'm feeling rough. Flowers to anyone whose circumstances aren't as easy

ScottishDream · 02/11/2020 15:40

@SheilaTakeABow I don’t normally get health anxiety but I think I’ll make an exception for covid.

Finding it impossible to distance from my children (preschool/reception age) who keep trying to cuddle me. DH has a cough and slight sore throat but is in his office working and says he’s otherwise “fine”

Just want to fast forward through the next two weeks.
