Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

I tested positive on Christmas Eve but had lost my sense of taste/smell a few days before. Is anyone else still struggling with their taste? I still don't have any sense of smell :(

Blimey, reading this, I’m feeling very lucky... or maybe I’m deluded.

DH (care home worker) was a bit sneezy over the weekend after Christmas, but then coughed a lot last Monday night, so attended work on Tuesday even though on annual leave, so he could get a test. We don’t know what happened to that - but they told him the home was in outbreak.

I started coughing on Thursday morning (New Year’s Eve) so went for a test, came back positive on Saturday.

Symptoms for both of us: cough, low appetite, feeling generally crap some of the time. I also had a fever on Friday, but not since. We are not too bad really - we are up and dressed, but a bit short of energy so not doing much/taking lots of breaks.

DH phoned in this morning and they told him to go and get another test rather than try chasing last week’s.

At the moment I can’t get my mind off the idea that you can start with mild symptoms and then get dramatically worse after a week or so. Looking forward to getting past that one week mark.

I’m 57, obese, have diabetes. Even so, my risk of needing hospital care is 1 in 570, so I’m hanging on to that. DH’s risk roughly half of mine even though he’s older and a man.

Been for a test today. Saturday spent the day in bed with whole body aches, same yesterday and then noticed I couldn’t taste my cup of tea and everything that followed. Hoping for a quick turnaround on test results. Runny nose and sneezy, headache but disappeared with paracetamol.

Day 9 here.
Was kind of getting better but today started feeling shortness of breath. Can't do deep breaths as it feels like there is something at the bottom of my lungs that is very irritated. That lung irritation is making me cough as well.
I was so happy I was on the mend but now this breathing thing is scaring me. I have an oximeter and so far I'm 98% - so all good.

Hoover, not hover :)

Well, I took paracetamol, the fever went down and I had enough energy to hover the flat and to take a shower. I'm feeling dizzy now but otherwise fine. I hope I won't have to pay for this bout of activity later.

I'm on day 6, and I'm having a lowish fever 37.7C. Should I let it run for a while to let my body fight, or should I keep taking paracetamol?

If you're not already doing so it would be great if you could complete the Kings College Zoe app. They would be very interested to hear of all the different symptoms people are experiencing

Can I join too? Got positive test results today.
First, my 5-year old got cold on Christmas eve. By Boxing day I felt really unwell too. But I thought it's the cold and/or hangover.
I am now lying in bed, exhausted and with no sense of smell or taste. I hope it goes away soon. Hold tight, everyone!

Can I join please? Positive result this morning, have no idea where I caught it. No symptoms yet, have had it at least 6 days.

Hi everyone can I join please? I got my positive test result last night, have had a slight cough since Boxing Day, my teen since xmas day which got worse on Sunday night, he has asthma, my dd is clinically vulnerable, so far she's just had a temperature which is now under control. I'm terrified.

Not sure when do count how many days in I am, should it be from when I developed a cough? I had itchy eyes/cold like symptoms from 23rd/24th and haven't seen anyone new since last Tuesday.

Wishing you the best for your continued recovery cluck. You have obviously had a terrible time. It serves as an example of how awful this virus can be even without hospital admission. I hope the after effects aren't too bad for you.

Thank you @girlofthenorth and @ShopoholicIn I feel like I’m Christmas Eve evening I turned a corner and for the first time in over a week, felt I could be getting better. I managed to wrap some presents and watched an entire film and started being able to walk around the house for more then one minute. I am still incredibly weak, horizontal is still the default position! But I no longer get light headed just going to the loo and don’t require a nap afterwards which is a win. Nausea turned into quite back sickness yesterday though so I only managed a very small baked potato yesterday. Still baby steps. It’s day 11 now, and I’m starting to believe that in a few days I might be able to manage getting dressed. That is the next goal.
Thank you @Cluckadoodledoo75 it’s good to hear there is light at the end of this tunnel. I’ve already decided I’m going to get myself signed off work as I really don’t want to go back for a while. I work in a school (so no guesses where I picked this is from!) so I’m still off for another week anyway. But I’m also scared to return back to the same environment, with no protection and to feel so unsafe. It’s just such a slow recovery process I but I do feel I’m on the, very very slow, mend.
Merry Christmas to all

I posted a while back, am here to offer hope for everyone :) j am on day 21 today and have been out of bed for 3 days and even managed a slow walk around Sainsbury's for essentials Xmas Eve- to the poster who went to a dark place, I went there too and was honestly lying in bed thinking in great detail that I'd like it to just stop now and how nice it would be to just not wake up anymore. I think in hindsight I was delirious as hadn't eaten anything or drunk more than half a glass of water a day for almost 3 weeks as I was just sleeping 24/7 - I slept for 17/18 days straight other than when paramedics came and I went to hospital for an X-ray. Antibiotics helped my chest as I was coughing up blood which maybe sped up my recovery a bit and I do feel exhausted still and am signed off work for another 10 days which will make it a whole month as I can't walk more than 5 minutes without feeling lightheaded but I am definitely feeling more with it now and even have my sense of smell and about 60% of my taste back :D hang in there xx

I'm a little puzzled as my daughter got her positive test yesterday and mine was negative. I'm the one with the really bad cough and tight chest!

I had a nasty headache thur and fri last week, the blocked, runny nose and cold symptoms over the weekend. Then felt better. A cough and tiredness kicked in on weds and has carried on since.

Was I too late testing so I'm coming out the other side of showing being infectious? Was it just a cold and I'm about to get Covid on top of it??

My dd is ok, only tested for work, but does have mild cold symptoms.
