Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

OP posts:
ScottishDream · 04/11/2020 14:16

@SheilaTakeABow I'm afraid we are not isolating at all. DH is working in his office all day (he's got mild symptoms too) which means I'm on childcare and housework. My two just want to sit on/cuddle me.

Families share germs here.

SheilaTakeABow · 04/11/2020 14:41

@ScottishDream, I am beginning to wonder why I'm bothering. Wearing a mask makes me feel worse, and if I was infectious before my symptoms really kicked in, it's very much a case of stable door and bolted. Just couldn't bear to be near the finish line and one of them starts with any symptoms.

BloomedAgain · 04/11/2020 17:37

I've taken the postal test. Still can't get my fever to abate so still in bed. No cough but waves of breathlessness. Mainly exhausted, dizzy and impaired ability to taste or smell.

HelpMePlease435 · 04/11/2020 17:49

I'm on day 10 of symptoms and my feet are absolutely freezing like they were the first day of my symptoms. Has anyone else had cold feet with covid

ScottishDream · 04/11/2020 18:06

@BloomedAgain Oh you poor thing, that sounds miserable. Bed is the best place to be!

@HelpMePlease435 I know a slight temperature can give me cold hands/feet - have you taken your temperature? A hot bath and an early night for you x

I feel like I've got a nasty cold, bit snotty, congested, run down. Very fed up. The children are taking full advantage, demanding snacks, throwing tantrums, and being difficult. DH hides in his office all day, then sits on his phone.

I cannot wait until Monday when I can leave the house again.

HelpMePlease435 · 04/11/2020 18:18

No, my temp is only 36.8 which is normal for me, going to get a nice bath once babys in bed

ScottishDream · 04/11/2020 19:49

Urgh, just had a wave of breathlessness and headache roll over me. Probably linked to being tired, even with a regular cold it's always worse towards bedtime.
I've taken a couple of paracetamol, am sipping my turmeric tea that I can't smell, and listening to fireworks going off outside.

Day 6 of being ill.

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 04/11/2020 19:55

Hang on in there @ScottishDream, its probably just tiredness with a bit of anxiety mixed in - I find deep breathing helps a lot, if you can. This time of day always seems the worst somehow.

Kudostoyou · 04/11/2020 20:57

Scotish definitely try to get an early night, I actually listened to some relaxation stuff on YouTube Last night (after Bridget Jones Wink) it actually helped a bit to calm me down, Matthew McConaughey does some, he’s actually really good. Anyhow he took me away from my Covid misery for a while. I’ve got to bring my DD for her second test tomorrow morning. She seems completely normal but I just can’t see how she won’t come up positive with everyone else in the household positive Confused

SheilaTakeABow · 04/11/2020 21:10

Sorry to hear that @ScottishDream; try to get some rest and hopefully you'll feel better in the morning Brew
@Kudostoyou, fingers crossed for tomorrow. The idea of Matthew McConaughey doing relaxation techniques intrigues me - I usually hate listening to people speaking but I could make an exception Wink

ScottishDream · 04/11/2020 21:15

Dug out the pulse oximeter after doing some relaxation stuff. O2 was 100%/99% and pulse 53/54, so I’m fairly sure I’m healthy. It’s the mental anxiety of it all.
Hopefully I’ll be a bit healthier feeling tomorrow.

SheilaTakeABow · 04/11/2020 21:24

Glad to hear it! My oximeter is pretty much my favourite thing in the house at the moment Grin

SheilaTakeABow · 05/11/2020 08:45

Morning! How is everyone this morning? My chest is a little tighter but I'm hoping that wears off as I get moving. Now on Day 7, if i take a vague tickly cough as my first symptom.

ScottishDream · 05/11/2020 09:44

@SheilaTakeABow I just feel a bit cold-y. Keeping the children entertained is the hardest part. DHs test came back negative, he was coughing over night but also feels on the mend, so he is congratulating himself on his super strong immune system.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 05/11/2020 09:48

Can I join? I tested positive last Wednesday but still feel rubbish.

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 05/11/2020 10:18

Morning! I am on day 6, feeling much better generally except I now have achey, heavy legs which stopped me sleeping so I'm knackered. Random symptom!

SheilaTakeABow · 05/11/2020 10:39

Welcome @AnneShirleysNewDress, sorry to hear you're still feeling rubbish. What are your symptoms?
Glad you're feeling a little better @ScottishDream, and hope you get some rest today. I've been lucky and my DC have been pretty good at keeping each other entertained with minimal supervision.
@ItMustBeBedtimeSurely, great you're feeling better too.
I must admit, I'm curious to know when we (I Blush) can begin to relax. I'm also feeling much better today, back to feeling like a standard cold, but I still have that terror of getting worse...

AnneShirleysNewDress · 05/11/2020 10:57

Thanks @SheilaTakeABow I lost my sense of taste and smell last week so I have no appetite. Cough has lessened but still getting chest pain and I'm incredibly dizzy. I though I had turned a corner a couple of days ago but it was short lived. I hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Butterbeeeen · 05/11/2020 11:08

Iv not tested positive yet but iv just booked a test thanks to this thread. I had no idea my headache which wont shift and kidney pain could be covid so thank you.

minimonkey11 · 05/11/2020 11:19

I feel ok today. I had bad headache last fri so if that was the first day then i have not been bad at all. If i really think (what else is there to do?) then i had strange aches before that which i had put down to being 44 🤣. So really i am not sure what day my symptoms started because i wasn’t putting any of them down to covid! I have 8 days left of isolation though. I agree with PP - it’s the fear od suddenly taking a turn for the worse! Keep strong all xxx

ScottishDream · 05/11/2020 11:21

I mainly have no energy or motivation today. I could do loads of housework but with two small people throwing toys everywhere I don’t want to. DH is just as bad, the most he does is cook dinner but leave all the clearing up for me.

As his test was negative, and the children have only had a blink and you’d miss it temperature over the weekend, they all have to do a full 2 weeks isolation until 13th November. My 10days from the start of symptoms are up Monday 9th. I am so looking forward to going out of the house alone for a lovely long walk - just a shame I’ll have to go to work first.

Lightsabre · 05/11/2020 11:27

For those interested, if you look back at the Lungs threads on Mumsnet there are lots of posters experiences on there from March/April (no community testing then though). Lots of posters reporting period delays or strange periods.

SheilaTakeABow · 05/11/2020 11:38

Oh, @ScottishDream, that sounds tough. Can you park them in front of the TV? Don't worry about housework, it'll keep! Today was the first time I felt sad about not going out, which I take as a good sign.
@minimonkey11, a lot of people have started with a headache, it's ridiculous (and a real health risk) that it's not officially a testable symptom.
@Lightsabre, I remember you from lurking on the Lungs threads - how are you doing now?
Strangely, my period was a week early this month, just before I started having symptoms. Weird bloody virus.

Lightsabre · 05/11/2020 11:53

Hello @SheilaTakeABow and sorry to hear you've tested positive - nightmare! I'm back at work part time but still can't take a deep breath or walk fast. I'm under the respiratory consultant so tests ongoing at the moment. Feel a lot better than in April though and am much improved. Wishing everyone all the best - take high strength Vit c and Vitamin D!

minimonkey11 · 05/11/2020 11:59

My period was 2 weeks early on the day my headache started! Then it wasnt really a proper period at all. Interesting! I wonder if the people doing the national study have picked up on this? I entered this info into that covid study app.
