Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

I’ve now had antibiotics for chest and then cortisone steroid tablets an an inhaler for chest. Am glad they are trying different things. 3 weeks since diagnosis and still puffed out walking round a shop!

GreyishDays · 10/12/2020 09:03

Ugh. I am so fed up. Day 25 ish here and still completely pathetic. Went for a walk on Monday and Tuesday and was just exhausted by the evening. It doesn’t feel like I’m making any progress at all.

I wasn’t even that ill with it. Anyone else the same?

MotherOfDragons27 · 10/12/2020 09:30

Having a test at 10am. I'm almost certain it's just a cold but I started coughing last night (usual for me with my asthma) so though I better do the right thing and get a test. Also reading through your comments I've noticed a slight ache like the kidney infection type feeling some of you have had, never thought that might be a symptom! Fingers crossed for neg result within 12 hours so my daughter doesn't have to miss her Xmas lunch tomorrow! Kids eh.

amyj606 · 10/12/2020 11:05

I'm over just over a month out of isolation. I've had my asthma inhaler changed (fostair) and I've still got a weird ruttle but overall my breathing is much better. Its the joint aches walked to the doctors and back (1 hour) and my joints were sore and heart rate was really high (180) crackers to think before this I walked 15000 steps a day and exercised 5 times a week.

LucilleBluth · 10/12/2020 11:19

I tested positive this morning. I’m fine except that my sense of smell and taste have gone and I’ve got awful palpitations.

Has anyone else had these palpitations, is it the COVID or could it be something else I wonder. Does anyone have any experience of this?

KTD27 · 10/12/2020 13:14

@LucilleBluth palpitations are definitely on the Zoe app list of symptoms. Don’t ignore them obvs if they get worse but I think they’re related.
I’m 24 days since start of symptoms. Am very nearly better but knackered after 4 days back at work. I echo a PP that my heart rate is high after previously not strenuous things. I used to run (not well or fast or for long but it was regular) and I can’t even imagine going back to it at the moment. Slowly slowly

MoirasRoses · 10/12/2020 14:36

I tested positive after a routine test - no symptoms bar a very minor cold. I’m slightly congested, sinus feel sore. Everyone else at home has tested negative despite both DD’s & my OH having worse cold symptoms Confused Again, no corona symptoms but all very snotty. My OH & I are part of a study, hence our tests & we decided to test the kids after my positive as if they were positive, we’d only have to isolate them for 10 days rather than 14! Every little helps with two children under 4 🥴

Obviously, we are all isolating but what are the chances I’m positive with milder symptoms than them .. it’s a bit confusing! I wish you could re-test to double check 😩

KTD27 · 10/12/2020 15:22

@MoirasRoses if you tested positive you’re positive. False positives are staggeringly rare I believe. False negatives much more common so it’s more likely that their results aren’t right.

magnarocks · 10/12/2020 15:52

@MoirasRoses my symptoms started as a coldy feeling, and here we are three weeks later... what I'm trying to say is, it can present as a minor cold - it doesn't make it any more likely to be a false positive.

eastegg · 10/12/2020 21:52

I tested positive yesterday and my DS1 the evening before. DH and DS2 and 3 are negative.

On day 3 since symptoms. Mainly just a cough so far but starting to feel a bit more like a head cold as well tonight, cough still going. It's too early to say I'm just going to have it mildly isn't it? Looking for reassurance though.

DS1(11) is fine. Sore throat and slight cough since Sunday and if anything he's slightly better, no worse.

eastegg · 10/12/2020 21:59

Oh on the topic of false negatives, I think my DC3 , aged 3, has just had one. One of the staff at the testing centre said to only swab his nostrils not his tonsils (before she said that I'd been wondering how on earth I was going to do it!) and the test instructions say this makes it less reliable.

He's had a cough like me for a few days. In fact it was only because I took him that I got a test myself; my cough didn't really get going until a few hours later

starrynight19 · 10/12/2020 22:07

Really random but has anyone found this has affected their monthly cycle. I have completely missed a period or it’s very late ? (Def not pg)

Drawmelikeoneofyourfrenchgirls · 11/12/2020 08:08

@starrynight19 yes!! Due this weekend and always on time. I usually get spotting a few days before period starts but I’ve had nothing so far

AstridAv · 11/12/2020 08:27

I'm going to my test in an hour but I've got a cough, congested and feel really weak and achey.
My son tested positive on Tuesday.

Flagsfiend · 11/12/2020 20:45

Can I join you? Got my positive result this morning. I've got a really weird sensation in my nose between my eyes, it's a prickling feeling and is quite unpleasant - has anyone else had that?

Also have a cough, aches and I'm really tired. Think my sense of smell is going too :(

AstridAv · 12/12/2020 08:58

I've just got my positive test results back this morning. Feeling scared if I'm honest

Drawmelikeoneofyourfrenchgirls · 12/12/2020 09:27

@Flagsfiend I had that for a couple of days, horrible feeling. Made my eyes water constantly! Didn’t last long tho

magnarocks · 12/12/2020 10:59

Welcome @AstridAv & @Flagsfiend.

Please don't be scared @AstridAv, remember that for the vast majority, it's an unpleasant but minor illness. Thanks

On day 23 since developing symptoms and still having good and bad days but definitely feel as if things are going in the right direction. Taste is slightly improved but can't smell anything. I hoped to be back at work by now but haven't managed yet - maybe this week. 🤞🏻

starrynight19 · 12/12/2020 11:18

@Flagsfiend yes I had what I can only describe as a ‘burning’ sensation in my nose at the start. I think it lasted three days or so.

@AstridAv so sorry to hear your feeling scared. Like others have said there is every chance it’s a mild illness and you’ll be over the worst in a few days.

Two week today since I went for my test. I am finding myself so breathless when I do anything. Like talking on the phone or doing an odd job in the house. And still have this wretched cough. Some days I go for hours without coughing and then other times it’s relentless. More so when I get up to do anything.

I hoped to be going back to work next week but as a teacher I need to talk a lot obviously and I just don’t how I am going to be able to do that without becoming exhausted. I feel like an old woman. And still no sign of my period.

starrynight19 · 12/12/2020 11:18

How’s your son @AstridAv ?

AstridAv · 12/12/2020 11:23

@starrynight19 my sons good now thank you. Still minor cough but done really well.

Thanks everyone. One of the other children in my sons class was asymptomatic but has given it to his mum who is now in hospital with a clot on her lungs and heart problems. She's heavily pregnant. Such a strange illness

Maisieme · 12/12/2020 13:48

Did anyone’s Covid start with sudden diarrhoea ? I have been unwell with diarrhoea today and have heard it can be a symptom. Thanks.

starrynight19 · 12/12/2020 15:07

@Maisieme mine didn’t start like that but I suffered with nausea / sickness and diahorrea in the first week of testing positive.

Maisieme · 12/12/2020 15:47

Thanks Starry

SophieB100 · 12/12/2020 16:13

Just popping to wish you well. Please don't exercise or do too much if you're feeling better. Like all viruses this one will ebb and flow, and if you have a good day, you might push yourself and pay for it the next. Rest is really important! Even when you're feeling better, take it easy!

Lecture over - I'll go back to lurking
