Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

Still very mild here. I feel pretty rubbish but realistically mild. No worse than a stinking cold so far (day 6) except I’m not snotty, which is a peculiar feeling. My taste is very slightly dulled but not sure if I’m overthinking! Zero chest symptoms. Zero cough. Zero fever. My 8 month old has what appears to be a stinker of a cold with fever, not sure whether to think covid or not. I really don’t want to test her as it’s unpleasant for little kids!

AstridAv · 12/12/2020 17:55

I'm glad yours feels mild. Mine doesn't feel too bad at the moment but I do keep having palpatations, I dont know if its normal and a part of covid, anxiety, or reason to worry. Very annoying

radioactiveimagination · 12/12/2020 20:41

Please can I join? Just tested positive. Symptoms are runny nose, had a tickly/scratchy throat and a bit of fatigue but have been working. That was a couple of days ago and feel much better today. I thought it was a cold and felt a bit guilty getting tested like I was wasting resources but wanted to rule it out so was pretty shocked to get a positive result especially as I've not had a temp, loss of smell or a continuous cough.

AstridAv · 12/12/2020 21:34

Hi @radioactiveimagination glad you are feeling relatively okay. I havent got a continuous cough either, just an occasional one. Low grade temp but not a proper one and I can still smell and taste.

radioactiveimagination · 13/12/2020 06:57

Thanks Astrid. How are you feeling today?

AstridAv · 13/12/2020 08:11

Woken up pretty rough. How are you?

Redheadedscarecrow · 13/12/2020 14:13

Hi all. Hoping to join. My husband tested positive last Monday and I have developed symptoms on Thursday night. Just about to send my postal test off. I've had a high temp of 38.3 on Friday along with body and head aches, fatigue and a mild cough, plus the odd bit of breathlessness on exertion. Yesterday was great as I felt almost better. Then today came along and its all change. I dont have my head and body aches, cough seems to be tailing off. Instead I have major anxiety about it, quite bad weakness where I'm struggling to walk to loo without feeling lightheaded and shaky despite having eaten. Im just laying on the sofa wiped out. I do have health anxiety to which I'm in cbt for. I guess today is a hard day and I'm frightened of the what if's.

radioactiveimagination · 13/12/2020 15:16

Feeling a bit rough tbh @AstridAv headachey and tired, but I didn't sleep very well so that's not helping. DH and kids had their tests today

trader21c · 13/12/2020 15:42

Hi red headed and welcome I tested positive 3 weeks ago and still have good days and bad days this virus is so unpredictable and affects all of us in different ways. I know you will worry (we all do) but pls try not to for many people it is a light illness drink lots of fluids rest as much as possible and listen to your body! There is lots of lovely help and support on here x

Redheadedscarecrow · 13/12/2020 15:52

Thanks for you reply and support trader. Its certainly a rollercoaster! X

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 13/12/2020 19:17

I have been signed off work until the end of term. Went out today and have been flaked out on the sofa since I got back at dinner time.

starrynight19 · 13/12/2020 19:24

I am attempting a return to work tomorrow, two weeks since positive result , day 16 from test. Hoping I can get through this week and then finish for Xmas. Also hoping this isn’t a mistake and sets me back.
Sorry to see more new joiners , hoping it’s not too bad of a journey for you all.

eastegg · 13/12/2020 22:50

I'm 6 days in now and still feeling ok. Cough has subsided a bit and I lost my sense of taste today. Anyone able to offer any reassurance that it's not likely to take a turn for the worse, or is it still too early to say? It seems so unpredictable.

Hello to the other recent joiners, I hope you are coping ok

AstridAv · 14/12/2020 00:17

I'd like to know the same about possibility of worsening.
I dont have any of the 3 'main' symptoms really. But I am in soo much pain. Everything hurts and its disgusting.
Hope everyone is doing okay

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 14/12/2020 16:10

Dh tested positive last Tuesday, and me yesterday. I only had a cough yesterday morning so booked the test, the afternoon I had real "fire" in my chest. Thankfully that's gone this morning but the joint pains arrived today. Behind knees, elbows, shoulders etc All agony.

Mumisnotmyonlyname · 14/12/2020 23:33

@Maisieme yes, exactly that.

BiscuitDrama · 15/12/2020 09:03

Morning everyone, hope you’re all ok.

I am on day 30 I think and the same as for about the last three weeks, just physically quite pathetic.

I man meant to be back at work on Thursday which will probably be ok as i WFH.

Can’t imagine when I’ll be able to go for a 20 minute walk without being broken for the next two days.

Apparently days 7-10 are when it can worsen Smile
Shopaholic100 · 15/12/2020 09:34

DD is on day 10, her symptoms started with extreme headaches, loss of taste and smell, slightly raised temperature and mild cough. The headaches and raised temperature have gone, but the cough has got worse and she still hasn’t regained her taste and smell. Has anyone found anything that helps with the cough? It’s a dry cough.

reallyneedmoresleep · 15/12/2020 09:41

Oh this is horrible! I tested positive on Sunday after my teaching assistant got it and I developed a bit of a cough. My head hurts so much and I keep getting a crushing pain in my chest. Which drugs have been the most help?

curlyLJ · 15/12/2020 10:01

I have just taken a test. Fully expecting positive after reading this thread. I thought it was just a head cold at first, but the back aches/sore skin feeling that a lot of people on here have mentioned prompted me to book a test. Booked it for this morning and lo and behold, the cough started last night (day 4) ☹️

tiktokmylife · 15/12/2020 10:12

myself, partner and our daughter received our positive results on Saturday. I started feeling ill on the Monday with what i genuinely thought was a cold. On Thursday partner and daughter came down with it as well.

I am now on day 8 and starting to feel better. Daughter had probably 2 days of feeling quite rough with a raging temperature and vomiting (she's 10). Partner is still feeling quite rough with it, he's really struggling love him.
The thing I find hardest to cope with is the tiredness - I have literally never been so exhausted
Hope you are all ok x

KTD27 · 15/12/2020 13:48

Has anyone struggled with dizziness or nausea after ‘recovering’ my DH and I are now 28 days post positive test (about 30 odd since symptoms) we were both ‘better’ though easily tired and yesterday and today he’s come over really dizzy and felt ‘drunk / hungover’ I wondered if it was a common post covid thing.

Cluckadoodledoo75 · 15/12/2020 20:30

I tested positive on the 5th and am still in bed - it's knocked me for six. I was taken via ambulance to hospital yesterday as I was coughing up blood and they are concerned I'm still running a temperature and bed bound this far along. The exhaustion is off the scale, I have slept solid 24/7 for 10 days. I had a chest a X-ray and some bloods etc and am back home with antibiotics now and back in bed. I've got no underlying health conditions, i weight lift and am strong and healthy, don't smoke, healthy BMI and am still struggling to recover.

HairyFloppins · 15/12/2020 20:38

Hope everyone who is poorly on here gets better soon. DH is on day 8 and still having massive temps spikes and a rotten cough. He has hardly moved in days and I have to force him to eat. Rang the doctors and they have gave him doxycycline as he is very prone to chest infections.
