Thought I'd make a thread for those of us who just tested positive within the last week to help each other through our covid journeys Halloween Smile

OP posts:
girlofthenorth · 22/12/2020 12:07

Hello, can I join ? Thank goodness have found this thread . Recognise @LeFluffyPants , how are you doing today ? I know what you mean about freaking out , it's horrible isn't it ?
I'm day 6 today if you count my start day when I had a little cough starting last Thursday , but to be honest looking back felt a bit rough last week ..odd tiredness and dizzy . when I am coming down with something , we often get dizzy and tired don't we ?, so maybe I should count start date from then.. I don't really know !
At the weekend my chest was very tight and I was put on steroids as I have asthma . Started in antibiotics today as gp concerned still have fruity cough. Hopefully that will sort it out ...bit worried about next few days , I hate the unpredictability of it all. Most people I'm speaking to who have had it just had mild fatigue and headaches .

NattyDiamondDoll · 22/12/2020 12:12

Was due to have an operation on Sunday 20th. Tested negative Monday 14th and positive on Friday 18th.
No symptoms at all! Neither has my child (not been tested). Isolating until 28th x South East so assuming new strain?

AstridAv · 22/12/2020 12:15

Hi @LeFluffyPants. I am on day 13 now and just wanted to reply to your message because I feel I could've written it. I have health anxiety too. Although I feel much better than I did and I'm not out of isolation, I am still being told by my brain that I'm going to get really sick. Its horrendous. I hope you are feeling okay

justaday · 22/12/2020 12:32

Hey,

Just thought I'd pop back on, tested positive 15 days ago, now pretty much back to normal, apart from no smell, but I feel incredibly lucky, so I'll go with that!

The hardest part for me was the anxiety, especially as I live with my parents who are in their 60s and also had symptoms, but we are all recovered now, and the anxiety has calmed down some what. I wanted to offer a handhold to anyone else struggling with anxiety, you're not alone, try and be kind to yourself as much as you can.

Markygirl1995 · 22/12/2020 12:42

Not got test back yet but I have a throat infection with no taste. Antibiotics have kicked in but wondered if positive how long did your taste come back

ShopoholicIn · 22/12/2020 14:15

Hi can i please join.. was looking for a thread like this. I am on day 4. Cough , fever n sore throat are tge main issues at the moment.

LeFluffyPants · 22/12/2020 14:45

Hi @girlofthenorth nice to see you here! I’m feeling pretty similar to yesterday, tired and fluey and tightchested but no worse... I really do think the anxiety is the worst part for me at the moment.

@AstridAv thanks so much for your message, it’s so good to know I’m not alone with this awful anxiety - I’m so happy to hear that you’re on day 13 and so much better. I know you know this but the chances of still going downhill now are minuscule! Day 13 feels like a lifetime away, do you have any tips on getting through the days, anxiety wise?

@justaday that’s so helpful. Thank you. It’s good to know I’m not alone with the fear. So glad you’re better and had a mild dose! I honestly think the fear is worse than any actual physical symptoms I have right now. I feel poorly but definitely have felt worse - it’s the fear that’s so difficult to deal with.

Flowers to everyone feeling unwell. This too shall pass.

LivingInCheckedMidis · 22/12/2020 15:10

I'm on day 4 of symptoms, I've had aching calves and an ache in between my shoulders for a few days. A banging headache and yesterday I lost my taste and smell. I've had a test done today, I'm 99.9% sure it'll come back positive.

How long did everyone else's results take to come back?

Icanseeclearlynow12 · 22/12/2020 15:18

Hi x Can I join please? I've just had my positive result after waiting for 5 days. No surprise after my son and husband both tested positive!!
It started with a headache, cough and high temperature. Now on day 7 and I've been feeling breathless since yesterday and exhausted 😞 Feeling really scared with not knowing if it will get worse. Does anyone know how long this might last?? Really hate this virus.

girlofthenorth · 22/12/2020 19:26

@Icanseeclearlynow12 same im day 6 and breathing more marked today hoping won't get worse. Just going upstairs. Also the chest tightness is getting me down.
Trying to concentrate on anything it's really hard. My DH feels rough and also thinks my tightness is just days of coughing - so I'm taking that!

girlofthenorth · 22/12/2020 19:27

Thank you @AstridAv and @justaday for hand hold that really helps

Stollenandsnow · 22/12/2020 21:22

I am awaiting a test result. Started with a sore throat last Tuesday, by Friday I had like a mouth ulcer at the back of my throat and I felt really strange, woolly headed and bone tired. Very dry sinuses, keep smelling chemicals or smoke. Felt wired, trying to sleep was difficult but also exhausted. Low level headache all the time, bit of a cough and now today aching back and legs. No high temperature but occasionally feeling hot and flushed.

Let’s see what the results say...

peaches1991 · 22/12/2020 22:47

Hi all. Had a positive result on Sunday after symptoms started on Friday morning. Almost all my symptoms seem to have passed now (thankfully and fingers crossed it's not just a lull) except my skin feeling hyper sensitive, especially my back. It almost feels like I have sunburn. Has anyone else had this?

ShopoholicIn · 23/12/2020 06:45

Hi all, hope everyone is on the road to recovery. I am on Day 5 now and fever is still on. I think i will start the paracetamol every 6 hours even if i don't have fever. Checking oxygen levels, heart rate and fever every six hours. My cough is pretty much subsided but I do have dry throat. Has steam inhalation helped anyone yet?

girlofthenorth · 23/12/2020 12:55

@ShopoholicIn inhalation has helped me esp with my cough. Also loads of honey and ginger.
@peaches1991 my DD16 also got symptoms now and she literally just said same thing about the hypersensitivity .
@Stollenandsnow welcome we will wait with you.

Day 7 for me , last day of steroids and worrying that after tomorrow , my chest will get worse because I'm not on them !! On amoxicillin , don't think temp getting too high , hard now as alluding in thermometer so can't be arsed to go and get it if temp in night ...I need to make more of an effort . Getting kind of worried that all surgeries are closing for Christmas and 111 will be busy ....wish I could get these thoughts out of head !!!!! Both kids got now so all trying to look after each other ...

How's everyone else feeling ?

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 23/12/2020 13:19

I think I’m it’s time I joined this thread. Currently on day 8. My symptoms so far:
Day 1: tickle in the throat, mild throat clearing cough. Thought it was just anxiety
Day 2: just felt run down, mild muscle aches and temperature of 37.6. Decided to book a test for that afternoon.
Day 3: lethargic! I had about 6 naps during the day and not a single cup of tea (which is completely unlike me!). Felt nauseas
Day 4: lethargic and nauseas
Day 5: lethargic, nauseas (and actually vomiting), but I did manage to walk ddog briefly (yes I know that’s breaking SI laws but it was an empty field right next to our house and the poor dog can’t go 2/3 weeks without a walk!)
Day 6: really bad muscle weakness and light headed. Feeling dizzy every time I stand up so spent the whole day lying down.
Day 7: same as day 6. Could only stand up for a minute or two before feeling dizzy. Think my taste and smell is also going
Day 8 (today): muscle aches, feel incredibly weak and dizzy. Yet another day spent just lying in bed or on the sofa.

I’m absolutely devastated, it’s Christmas in 2 days and I still have wrapping to do and feel like I’m just making it the worst Christmas ever for our 4dc. I absolutely hate this and just want to know when I will be able to stand up again and feel normal ish. Feeling in such a dark place right now.

Really hope everyone starts improving and getting over this horrible horrible virus. I’m mid 30s and otherwise pretty healthy (if carrying a little extra weight then I’d like)

propertealady · 23/12/2020 14:10

I've not tested positive but my husband and toddler have. Toddler has the SLIGHTEST cough, husband is exhausted. I have a 2 month old baby too and I'm so scared about it all.

LeFluffyPants · 23/12/2020 15:43

Hi everyone, how are you feeling today?

@ShopoholicIn how are you doing? Is the fever settling yet?

@AHippoNamedBooBooButt so sorry you’re going through this - we are in very similar positions, I also have young DCs and have no energy even to wrap their presents. I really hope this is the worst of it for you now and tomorrow is a better day.

I’m on day 4 and it’s mainly just fatigue today, some dizziness too, but I don’t feel I can do anything much Sad

Still no cough or loss of taste and smell, but I’ve heard that can come later on
Xx

ShopoholicIn · 23/12/2020 16:27

Hi @lefluffyPants I Hope your dc and you fell better soon xx... Its such a tough time but those too shall pass. My kids presents are not wrapped too and tbh I didn't even think of it till now.. I am still getting fever every 10 -12 hours. Today I just feel very down emotionally.. I don't know when will this get over. Sorry but somehow cant say this to anyone else, some of whome who had it around the same time have recovered.. (coincidentally some cousins got it around the same time though we are thousands of miles apart)... trying to tell myself this will be over soon

girlofthenorth · 23/12/2020 18:52

Feeling a little worried as my DD16 temp doesn't seem to be coming down , despite ibrufen and paras ...god this is so stressful !

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 23/12/2020 19:13

Thank you @LeFluffyPants I’m feeling a bit better now. Well not physically, still feel rubbish, but not so down in the dumps. Fortunately my eldest dc is almost 17 and she has been an absolute godsend. I’m utterly blown away with how amazing the dc have been, given the circumstances. Dd has offered to take on the Santa responsibilities tomorrow. She’s offers every year but I’ve never let her but no choice now. She will be filling all the stockings and putting out the gifts. She’s even offered to cook Christmas lunch (the possibility of it being a dominos pizza is pretty high right now). I’m incredibly lucky to have her help and support. Hopefully I can just finish the wrapping tomorrow, whilst lying horizontal in bed!

I managed to spend a whole hour sitting up earlier, I’m just so incredibly weak. I went to the loo and had to have a nap afterwards, it’s just so exhausting.

@ShopoholicIn you are right, we will get through this and be fine. It’s horrible seeing people recover in quicker time, and I think it is also the absolute worst time to be so poorly with small children. Especially when you can’t even call on other family members to help out and give you and the dc a break because we all have to isolate. It will get better though, it won’t last forever.

@girlofthenorth have you phoned 111? Always call them if you are worried.

ShopoholicIn · 23/12/2020 20:08

@girlofthenorth out yes i agree to @AHippoNamedBooBooButt.. call 111 if you think she's having fever despite brufen and paracetamol.

@AHippoNamedBooBooButt thabks so much for your kind words and hand holding desperately need it right now. Your dd is really a Godsend. Good that you have her to fall back to, hopefully you will feel much better tomorrow xx

girlofthenorth · 23/12/2020 21:44

Thank you @AHippoNamedBooBooButt @ShopoholicIn thankfully can down in the end , doesn't make it any easier that she's very resistant to help sometimes . Finally came down with water and opening her windows and making her strip off . Your kids sound amazing by the way !

@ShopoholicIn it really stinks doesn't it , it really feels like one step forward and too steps back for me today...feeling quite breathless at times tonight, and chest feels congested, not too much down there, but what is there I can't seem to cough up.

CuckooSings · 23/12/2020 22:47

Posting here in hope of help! Dc3 got ill on Sunday 13th December. We tested her on the 14th and got a negative result on the 15th. On the 17th I woke up with a cold, blocked sinuses, runny nose, headache and sore throat. I went to work as I had no cough, temp or change to smell/taste plus I assumed I'd caught dc3s bug. Have got progressively worse, started coughing (and isolating) on Tuesday 22nd so went to get a test. Just had a positive result which probably explains why I get breathless going up and down the stairs. But work want to know when my symptoms started and I'm not sure. Would it be the cold symptoms last Friday? Or the cough/breathlessness yesterday? I work in a school so potentially a lot of contacts if it was last Friday.

starrynight19 · 23/12/2020 23:00

cuckoo I would say from the first day of symptoms which was last Friday.
Incidentally they were all my first symptoms to and then I started with the cough / chest stuff a week later.
