Anybody currently waiting on a test result?

I went to a drive thru test centre yesterday so I'm home and self isolating until I get the results.

Anybody else?

Thanks @nancy75, so it looks like they may continue to send emails overnight but hold the texts until 6am?

ireallyamthewalrus · 27/10/2020 19:15

I wonder how late in the evening they send the texts?

nancy75 · 27/10/2020 19:23

Yes, I guess they’d get too many complaints if they started texting people in the middle of the night!

Hardbackwriter · 27/10/2020 19:30

Email came at 4.05 this morning but the text came at 6.13

snailhunter · 27/10/2020 19:40

Just got it - negative! Feel like we just got a get out of jail free card. So relieved. Fingers crossed for all waiting - ours was 52 hours

Pl242 · 27/10/2020 19:49

Still waiting here. Just over 50 hours so far. I called 119 to chase up. They said results for test centres seemed to be averaging 48-72 hours. 5-7 days for home tests.

The person I got through to took my details (and my kids) and sent them across to the “late results” team. They work office hours but are supposed to be able to help chase results up and check for admin errors.

No idea if it will help things along but feel I’ve managed to do something proactive so might be worth a try for anyone else still waiting.

Good luck.

Fizbosshoes · 27/10/2020 20:00

@ShowOfHandshow come so long ?

This is what i was wondering

ShowOfHands · 27/10/2020 20:04
@ShowOfHands how come so long ?
Because DD had Covid = 14 days isolation
DS has Covid = 14 days isolation

They couldn't have it at the same time. Oh no. One immediately after the other.

RevIMJolly · 27/10/2020 20:04

Right - over four days now. Have called but they cannot escalate until tomorrow.

I am extremely pissed off.

ireallyamthewalrus · 27/10/2020 20:26

They said results for test centres seemed to be averaging 48-72 hours.

@Pl242 this is useful to know.

girlsyearapart · 27/10/2020 21:25

@ShowOfHands does that mean you completed the little graph thing then got out and had to start again ? Poor you
Following on from dhs positive test Friday myself and dd3 had tests today as I can’t taste much and she has a sore throat and bit of a cough

Anybody currently waiting on a test result?
pinkpanther84 · 27/10/2020 22:48

41 hours for my partner, result was negative thankfully! Email came through at 2am, text followed several hours later. South West of England

cherrytreeblossom · 27/10/2020 23:11

I got (positive) result in 12 hours yesterday

BangingOn · 28/10/2020 06:44

@cherrytreeblossom

I got (positive) result in 12 hours yesterday
Hope you’re feeling ok and make a speedy recovery.

I took a test at 2pm yesterday and got a negative at 6am, so a turnaround of 16 hours.

Stylinson · 28/10/2020 06:48

I tested at 3pm on Monday and just got a negative result

I still have my 38.8 temperature, weird taste in mouth, sore throat, fatigue and headache!

RedRec · 28/10/2020 07:22

@MoirasRoses that was very quick!
Which test centre did you go to? I had to drive to Bradford University yesterday and had it done at 7pm - hoping for a quick result like you.

ireallyamthewalrus · 28/10/2020 13:05

Had one returned in 36 hours in London. Email went to junk and text not received until the next day so worth checking junk mail if you’re waiting.

Pl242 · 28/10/2020 13:08

70 hours and counting here 🙄

Pl242 · 28/10/2020 15:56

@RevIMJolly have you had any more joy?

I called again as it’s now over 72 hours. I was told that the late results team aim to get back to people within 3 days. But that guidelines have recently been updated to advise people that test results can take up to 5 days nowadays standard (oh really? Saw nothing like that when booking it). And was heavily implied that the operator who I spoke to yesterday shouldn’t have really referred my case as I’d not had the luxury of waiting 5 days yet.

In my case I’m told that I should get my test results (and those of my kids) back by Friday (having been tested on Sunday) or if not someone should be in touch by Friday if there are any other issues with the test results. Oh and then if my children and I are still experiencing symptoms and haven’t had test results we can book in again to go through all of this again.

What a joke.

So basically they are saying that once you have been tested it is their standard policy to wait 5 days and then they might chase it up again with a 3 day turnaround. So if they manage to tell you a test result within 8 days they are hitting their target. Or better stil manage to tell you that there’s been an issue with your test within 8 days and that you’ll have to get tested again, then that’s also working to guidelines.

No wonder track and trace hasn’t got a chance in hell of working in this country.

If my daughter is positive all her classmates will have been out and about on half term when they should have been isolating.

What a shambles.

(Need to lie down).

H1978 · 28/10/2020 16:04

Dh, and 2 dcs were tested this morning. Dh had contact with someone who tested positive, has no symptoms but is a key worker. Dcs both have symptoms but I think it’s most likely flu.

RevIMJolly · 28/10/2020 16:43

@Pl242 no joy I'm afraid.

I spoke to two people today in case I got different answers. (The Scottish call handlers have been by far the best.)

Anyway, I was not as 'lucky' as you; they will not escalate it until it has been five days, and since I had the test at 5.30pm on Friday, they would not deal with it today and I have to call back tomorrow. However, I am going to try again at 6pm tonight to see if I have any joy.

However, in one of my other conversations the call handler said that if I had no other symptoms (I tested as I caught my negative DS's cold and my cough has now gone), I can just isolate for 10 days and then be done with it.

So... long story short, I may be able to come out of isolation on Friday.
I think that this may be nonsense.

119 hours and counting.

Do I get a prize if I am the longest on the thread? I think someone was 123 hours, I suspect I may pass that with ease.

RevIMJolly · 28/10/2020 16:45

I think the record is @CurlyLG with 128

wejammin · 28/10/2020 18:02

DS tested today at drive through centre in Trafford, he has a fever of 39. He had a very busy 3 days prior to today and came into contact with a lot of people (various holiday clubs so I can work) including a famous footballer at a charity event so fingers crossed it's negative or we're going to be very unpopular!

Mooey89 · 28/10/2020 18:07

Waiting here. Had a cold for the past few days and developed a cough that’s got worse since yesterday, tested this morning. Expecting a negative because I always get a chesty cough after a cold! Am asthmatic and overweight so fingers crossed. Does anyone know if the tests for essential workers are coming back quicker? I had to tick that I work in the nhs, wasn’t sure (wishful thinking) if the test might come back quicker 🤞

Pl242 · 28/10/2020 18:35

@Mooey89 not sure. On the late results referral thing they asked if I was a key worker or not. All of this suggests they prioritise key workers, but if that happens in practice I do not know. I’m not full of any faith in the system at all though.

I’m sorry @RevIMJolly. That really sucks. Really hope you get some resolution to it all soon.
