Anybody currently waiting on a test result?

I went to a drive thru test centre yesterday so I'm home and self isolating until I get the results.

Anybody else?

@gamerchick that’s quick! Hope it was negative.
Mine was 2 and a half days. Negative 😅

Giganticshark · 24/10/2020 19:01

This is so good to hear the speedy results coming in! I really need to get back to work (shop Ahhhh). My section is manic and I really need to be in.

trunumber · 24/10/2020 19:08

I've been waiting for a contact to get hers back. Just got them back (negative) 56 hours

TabbyStar · 24/10/2020 19:15

I think it depends where you are in the country, we could book a test within an hour and results took about 40 hours, apparently sent to Milton Keynes where they are quite quick. We got a surprise negative and a surprise positive, so wondering if we mixed them up! We both have to isolate anyway.

walksen · 24/10/2020 19:21

Totally lost all sense of smell this Morning so had drive through test few hours later. Covid rife at my school. Pretty certain it must be covid.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 24/10/2020 19:21

My husband had his done Thursday morning and we got the results last night- positive. He's exhausted and grey and he smells funny. Our dog won't leave him alone.

I'm quite scared for us all. Are those of you who have had positive cases in the household isolating from the infected person? Truthfully? We can't really - we haven't got enough space and I'm thinking we've probs all got it already. Feeling pretty low about it all tbh. Good luck everybody Flowers

Gemini6 · 24/10/2020 19:29

I had a test at Gatwick drive through Thursday afternoon, they said 48 hours but nothing yet.
The wait is driving me insane!

Good stuff. Mine was as well, coughs driving me mad though. Still nice to get a negative test.

I couldn't believe how quick it all was. Much better than waiting for a home test coming and posting off.

Figured it was probably a bit late by the time DD had symptoms, as she was likely already infectious and I'd spent lots of time in the car with her the day before. Now I have symptoms, but I tested negative whilst she still tested positive in what I thought would be outside the infectious window, so who knows what's going on.

orangejuicer · 24/10/2020 19:39

Only me with symptoms at the mo so I am keeping my distance but it's really hard as I just want to cuddle my son. I am praying it's negative as I am in the vulnerable category too.

My oldest DD had a test Tuesday morning 10am and we are still awaiting the result, to say I am pussed if is an understatement. Angry

Hardbackwriter · 24/10/2020 19:41

Had to take our 2 year old for a test this morning as he developed a nasty cough overnight. Went to a drive-in centre and so hoping for quick results, and also that we actually did it well enough to not get an inconclusive result (it wasn't easy with a 2 year old! And I found how upset he got so upsetting that I burst into tears too, which helped no one). DH is a teacher and I've booked half term as annual leave so in some ways it's a convenient time compared to needing to be off work but we were both so looking forward to a week together doing nice things as a family and also having a bit of couple time during the two days when DS goes to nursery - DC2 due fairly soon so we won't get another chance so would love to get the results in time...

*pissed off! Bloody autocorrect

BumDiggyDiggyDiggyBumDiggyBum · 24/10/2020 20:10

Not tested but isolating as of about 3 hours ago. Got a call from DD5 deputy head, she’s a close contact of a kid at school who had positive test results today. But the contact was yesterday at school. Can’t help but think the kid had been sent to school with symptoms after being tested while awaiting results 🤬🤬

DP works away so not here, only DD and I at home so I’m obviously isolating with her. And I’m ECV so this will be a nervous 2 week wait!

BuzzingBumbleBee123 · 24/10/2020 20:16

We had one thurs eve at Gatwick and also still waiting

HotPatootiebootie · 24/10/2020 20:28

I started feeling dodgy last night and seated all night and now have a tickle cough. I didn't think Covid until my husband pointed out I had been complaining of a tight chest on Wednesday and Thursday. I'm on immuno suppressants and took my jab on Tuesday so I'm hoping desperately it's just a recurrent underlying infection that has kicked off in the night after my jab. That's the normal pattern anyway. I have a tickle cough but am producing phlegm, had a temperature and am tired and feel cotton woolly in my head. Some chest tightening and a bad taste in my mouth but any of that could just be my normal recurrent MRSA infection so good knows.

Anyway, I went online at 1.20pm and they had 134 tests available between 1.30-2pm so I drove the 2 miles and was the only person there. The local processing centre is 8 miles away and apparently pretty quiet at the moment (friend works there) so I'm hoping tomorrow.

Dontrainonmyparade · 24/10/2020 20:32

Yep, took DD to walk through last night as she came home from school with a mild cough. Was unsure but thought best to just get a test. She coughed all night but it had been better today. I started with a cough around lunchtime today so took myself off for a drive through one. Both centres were quiet, fingers crossed I swabbed her well enough the first time and for quick results...

fucknuckle · 24/10/2020 20:42

posted my home test on thursday. how long do they take, does anyone know for sure?

Giganticshark · 24/10/2020 21:01

It seems to depend on location. Home tests take a day longer as they have to travel via post.
I'm northwest, it was busy at the test centre but there were 650 tests available at Manchester Airport at 9am today (I went to a different location who also had hundreds of available tests). So there are plenty of tests available which is great

Vivana · 24/10/2020 22:02

I have covid tests weekly as I'm a care Assistant and have them done in the middle of week and get them Saturdays

Giganticshark · 25/10/2020 08:49

A lot of people have mentioned receiving a text to confirm your test has arrived at the lab, does everyone get one?

MarjorytheTrashHeap · 25/10/2020 08:53

Had two done last week for me and one DC, although in different locations as I had the symptoms first. Both were negative but her result took 62 hours and mine took 103 hours! I got told the labs are overwhelmed at the moment.

I didn't get one for drive through centres. I think you can track the home tests.
ihearttc · 25/10/2020 08:57

DS’s just came back from yesterday, took about 20 hours which I think was quite good. It was negative. Now just need to work out what’s wrong with him as he really isn’t well.

MarmiteCrumpet25 · 25/10/2020 09:04

I went to a walk in yesterday as advised by the Zoe app. They said 24-48 hours.
