I'm calling it - people aren't complying.

Local lockdowns aren't working. The North has proven that. Why would it be different in London or anywhere else for that matter? People have stopped complying. They did it in March when it was implied by Bojo that it was going to be a 3 month thing, but as it has become abundantly clear that that this is going to be a way of living until there is a vaccine, and there is no guarantee on a vaccine, people have just said sod it then, I'm not living that way.

I won't be complying. I'll be continuing to see my mum and my sisters. I'd obey it to the letter if it was a 2 week circuit breaker, but as it's clear we're going to have to live this way until at least next Spring, no, I won't be complying.

And for those who say "oh well that's why cases are going up" - until this government kicks itself up the arse and gets a functioning test and trace system in place, they always would anyway. Either it's lockdown or it's cases rising. And most of us aren't prepared to live without seeing family or friends (yes, indoors!) until Spring.

@AuntieLydia

Whitty is (as before) saying what he’s paid to say.

Oh dear Sad. As the saying goes, you can't argue with...some people.

Don't say stupid or the mumsnet mafia will be on your case.
TheHoneyBadger · 15/10/2020 18:38

Chris conveniently left off the slides showing rises in infections amongst school age children. They also conveniently don't want to give us stats for eg. 11-18 year olds so we can say, ah yes that's schools and 6th form colleges.

It's not a great 'reset' conspiracy it's a continuation of trying to deny spread in schools and actively avoiding find it by not doing test and trace in schools and telling headteachers to first phone dfe not phe and now even not to bother phoning dfe but to deal with it themselves and send as few children home as posssible.

What happened to these mobile test centres that were going to be sent to schools with cases to check how widespread the outbreak was? They don't want to know, they don't want data.

@AuntieLydia So are you going to answer my questions about household transmission? Are you aware (from my other posts) that I’m following rules and support a circuit breaker? Or are you so tied up in believing it can’t possibly be schools that you won’t even think about it and would prefer to pretend I’m a conspiracy nut?
From my point of view you are the people I can’t argue with as you won’t engage. I’m going to report your post as a personal attack, by the way, as you just called me stupid. I know that because I’m not stupid.

TheFormattingIsWrong · 15/10/2020 18:40

It can't possibly not be spreading in schools.

Thank you, @TheFormattingIsWrong

AlexaShutUp · 15/10/2020 18:41

I'm not following it and don't really care if I spread it and implement herd theory on my own.

FFS! When faced with ignorance like this, there really is very little hope for our future...lockdown or no lockdown.

cardibach · 15/10/2020 18:42

Don't say stupid or the mumsnet mafia will be on your case
So you think it’s ok to call someone stupid, then @Carrotgirl87 ?

Aridane · 15/10/2020 18:42

I'm not following it and don't really care if I spread it and implement herd theory on my own

🙄

TheHoneyBadger · 15/10/2020 18:43

I can't understand the logic of people saying the OP shouldn't visit her mum because even children and teenagers are being hospitalised whilst not mentioning the glaringly obvious and ginormous elephants in every single community that are far more likely to lead to illness in young people and everyone else.

It's not obey and believe in every rule without questioning the internal logic, or lack thereof, of the governments strategy or be a crazy covid denying conspiracy theorist.

Aridane · 15/10/2020 18:44

@AlexaShutUp - not ignorance , just selfishness and criminality (now the government, ent has moved from guidance to law )

ktp100 · 15/10/2020 18:45

This country is full of stupid, selfish cunts.

Harsh but true.

  1. I didn't call you stupid.
  1. There has been significantly worse name calling throughout this entire thread.
Carrotgirl87 · 15/10/2020 18:47

@cardibach best pull up @ktp100 too. In fact go through the thread and tag everyone that called anyone anything.

Or are you just targeting me?

Maze76 · 15/10/2020 18:49

But in relation to C19, herd immunity isn’t proven.. people have caught it a second time and have fared worse for it..,, I do feel for business owners, but that’s not a reason to disregard the dangers

Dawnlassie · 15/10/2020 18:50

Today police state no further action will be taken against Margaret Farrier. And people wonder why the general public are not compliant.

cardibach · 15/10/2020 18:51

@Carrotgirl87

  1. No you didn’t, but the person you were supporting did, which is what I was replying to .
  2. I’m defending myself. Others are welcome to do the same. I’m not the thread police.
cardibach · 15/10/2020 18:53

@Carrotgirl87 and kpt100 didn’t target me directly either. In fact he/she is referring to people breaking lockdown/distancing rules. Which I’m not. So she’s not talking to me at all. The person you defended did. She called me a conspiracy theorist and stupid for suggesting that 1000s in schools with no distancing or PPE might be more significant in spread of Covid than households.

I was not supporting anyone, it was an ambiguous statement that simply said, don't call people stupid as it doesn't go down well on mumsnet.
cardibach · 15/10/2020 18:55

But the person you quoted was referring to me.
I think if you quote a particular comment it’s fair to assume that’s the comment you are specifically referring to, don’t you?

Again, I did not defend anyone. It seems you misinterpreted my comment.

FWIW I agree with you about schools.

HeIenaDove · 15/10/2020 18:57

@Dawnlassie the news has just covered the Ferrier debacle interspersed with a gym owner, who was threatened with a £1,000 fine, told an hour later it would be a £2,000 fine then a £3,000 fine etc.

Carrotgirl87 · 15/10/2020 18:58

@cardibach

Obviously you need me to elaborate.

I had (just before that comment) been 'told off' for using the word stupid, as a general term, not person specific. This is why I was telling her not to say stupid.

Nothing. To. Do. With. You.

cardibach · 15/10/2020 19:02

@Carrotgirl87 no need for passive aggressive full stops.
You quoted a post relating to me. I assumed you were therefore referring to the post you quoted, and by extension, me.
If not, fine.

FractionalGains · 15/10/2020 19:04

@Carrotgirl87 if you mean me, I wasn’t telling you off for using the word, I was saying it’s really lazy to say that when people don’t agree with you they’re stupid. Some might be, but valid points have been raised on this thread which merit engagement.
