Would anyone support another national lockdown?

Same as the last one. Schools, non essential shops, hospitality etc. stretching on for a few months. If yes, can I ask what are your personal circumstances?

OP posts:
RonaLisa · 13/10/2020 20:50

No, no, and a thousand times no.

I didn't support the last one, either.

I work in hospitality. But even if I didn't, I would oppose lockdown because of the effect on people whose livelihoods depend on being able to go to work.

startswithanL · 13/10/2020 20:51

No because my kids have a right to their education & I know many people whose livelihoods have scraped by and survived the last one but another one they've said their businesses would not survive...

MummyPop00 · 13/10/2020 20:52

It wouldn’t affect me financially (WFH) but no, I’m not in favour of another lockdown & especially schools closing again.

homemadecommunistrussia · 13/10/2020 20:52

No

PenelopePilchard · 13/10/2020 20:53

Absolutely not. We only just got our business through the first one.

I'm getting angrier and angrier at the restrictions now.

YellowOrangeRed · 13/10/2020 20:54

If hospitals are getting close to having to cancel or delay cancer ops/treatment, I’d support a lockdown of up to a month to get the numbers in hospital back down to a more manageable level. That’s my break point.

guitarstringseadgbe · 13/10/2020 20:54

Absolutely not.

Me too
skedaddIe · 13/10/2020 20:56

Absolutely fucking not.

We had no income for 6 months.

Yes none. Really nothing. 6 whole months. Zip. Zilch nada.

We also bought a family home in Jan completed in April.

Both dp and I are public sector workers working on contract inside IR35. Covid really laid bare the contempt that public sector organisations have for us. Unfortunately public sector policymakers are the same horrible people who decided who got the furlough cookies.

Indoctro · 13/10/2020 20:58

No way..!!

islockdownoveryet · 13/10/2020 20:59

No because we don't know how long it will last for .
2 or 3 weeks isn't long enough to see change so it'll go on for weeks and the run up to Christmas no chance .
The country really will be bankrupt if they do that .

Clearasmuddypuddles · 13/10/2020 21:00

Nope

Bocadilla · 13/10/2020 21:00

Absolutely NO WAY

Same here. Nobody believes it, but it's true.

NO

Sodamncold · 13/10/2020 21:07

Nono and hell no.

I didn’t mind lockdown. Went for a long beautiful walk most days, still went to supermarket, time with children

BUT my children missed school desperately.

I would be so upset for them if that happened again

Hellohey · 13/10/2020 21:08

No - as I've said on a previous thread.

It makes me angry the thought of a second lockdown.

Its not just physical health they need to think about, they need to think about mental health too.

I've been made redundant and so many people I know are being made too. Competition is gonna be even worse - every single part time job has many applicants on Indeed too.

People gonna be put in debt more with companies, that's gonna impact on people life choices and its gonna create more inequality.

I've had the virus in June. It wasn't the best thing but I'm OK. I'm avoiding high risk situations and scaling back on social interactions.

But we don't need a second national lockdown. Its awful. God they make me so angry.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 13/10/2020 21:14

No. It's too late now, like shutting the door after the horse has bolted. Plus a second lockdown would not included shutting schools or workplaces which therefore isn't a lockdown? Just a ban on social gatherings which is pointless really.
We did lockdown, had the chance to rid this country of the virus and our gov screwed up and prioritised a summer holiday above our health. It was possible to rid us of it, or at least bring it down to a manageable level - china have. They screwed up. I'm not having another half hearted lockdown, then another then another.... where does it end?
I think we are now at the point of just having to ride this out.

WinWinnieTheWay · 13/10/2020 21:16

I doubt that my support would matter. I'd just have to get on with it, the same as everyone else.

JellyBelly78 · 13/10/2020 21:16

We must do what needs to be done. I have children but don’t believe their right to an education is worth more than others lives.
If hospitals are overwhelmed there will be no cancer care or beds for people who have heart attacks etc.
I understand it’s had an impact on mental health but generations before us had to endure worse.
I do agree people need financial support.

RonaLisa · 13/10/2020 21:18

A friend of mine owns a local takeaway (family business - not a chain). We live in a smallish place. He recently advertised for a member of staff. He normally expects there to be about 20 applications. There were over 500.

ConiferGate · 13/10/2020 21:18

Yep I’d support it if the govt acknowledged we not need it because they’ve fucked up test track and trace and commit to using the time to improve it so we don’t have to do again.

ConiferGate · 13/10/2020 21:18

*only need it. ffs.

You do know, don't you, that there is no hospital treatment for anyone who hasn't got Covid? That people are (literally) on their knees in pain, because they can't see anyone?
