We always said we were fiercely competitive about 'our' vaccine being the best Grin

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 28/01/2021 22:44

I’m sure I had the placebo as I had absolutely no reaction at all with either jab, but I’m still claiming my part in it Grin. Bit like spending the entire World Cup on the subs bench I imagine Grin.
Next antibody test week after next, wonder if we’ll be told any more?

MrsHamlet · 28/01/2021 22:45

My second jab got a weird reaction but my next appointment isn't til March. I want to know now!!!

Woventabby · 28/01/2021 22:45

Great news! Feeling emotional now...

andadietcoke · 28/01/2021 22:48

@JosephineDeBeauharnais @Frazzled2207 and I are going for appointment 4 a week tomorrow so we can report back after that.

Frazzled2207 · 28/01/2021 22:50

I’m also so chuffed that it will be made domestically. Am totally anti-brexit but will be excellent news for jobs in the north east.

Fab thanks 🙏

Thank you for your service, people. What a cool thing to tell your grandchildren.

lunapeace · 28/01/2021 23:03

I'm really pleased to see this and I've seen a few people on here participating in the trial. Well done!

GreenPlum · 28/01/2021 23:05

You know there's some talk about the placebo group getting vaccinated but confusion as others report we're not being unblinded - well there's a guy on Twitter who just said that he was told by his trial doctor in Bradford that they're doing another double blind run but switching the two groups over and everyone gets two more injections. So the vaccine group get the placebo this time and the placebo group get the vaccine.

I wonder if it's only some hospitals doing this sub study. I'll ask in Leeds next week.

NotMrsTumble · 28/01/2021 23:12

Grin just here because I'm so happy that the initial phase 3 results are sooooo good (and I'm also now the designated family grocery shopper, as I've officially been vaccinated with 2 doses at the recommended interval🛒🛒)

Eh? How very odd. What benefit would there be to giving the vaccinated a placebo and why would they agree? If those that got the placebo get the real thing though, bring it on!

Or is the point that nobody would know....?

What fabulous news! Hoping I can have the vaccine soon - absolutely no side effects so I'm assuming I had the placebo...
Really happy to have been part of this, if only a tiny one.

GreenPlum · 28/01/2021 23:39

Yeah, I thought they'd double the number of the vaccinated for boosting numbers in the trial, but they have to have a control group so they just switch them over. The vaccinated group agree - because unless they're unblinded, they don't know!

I don't know. Maybe it's bollocks. I'm just repeating what this guy on Twitter said!

Delatron · 28/01/2021 23:39

My friend has been part of this trial.

She had a sore arm for a week and a bad headache the day after.

Such amazing news about the efficacy!

GreenPlum · 28/01/2021 23:41

I had zero side effects too so thought I had the placebo. However both my kids had covid last week and I didn't catch it so now I'm thinking I had the vaccine! And it makes me love Novavax even more if there are no or very mild side effects!

Waspnest · 28/01/2021 23:42

Were we? I think they might have mentioned that... I knew I shouldn't drink the tea

Grin

I think it's lovely that there seems to be a Novavax club on MN.

ButtonMoonLoon · 29/01/2021 02:44

Is anybody here taking part in the Janssen trial?

BG2015 · 29/01/2021 06:26

I was asleep early last night so missed the news! And all of your wonderful posts!

Fabulous news! It is amazing!

I'm convinced I had the vaccine as second injection gave me a very sore arm and 24 hours after the jab I felt so rough - headache, aching muscles and just not right.

Whoever said further down about shopping, we've done the same - even though I've not been unblinded i'm the designated shopper!

I go in half term for my 4th appointment.

GailLondon · 29/01/2021 06:45

I’m just really proud of you all - Thankyou so much for volunteering 💗💗

Jerble · 29/01/2021 07:03

Such fantastic news. Well done to you all for your part in the trial - whether you got the placebo or the vaccine, every one of you was needed for the trial to be a success. Very brave and selfless - you are all amazing.

mellongoose · 29/01/2021 07:21

I've been on this trial in the south west. No idea yet if I had the placebo or the real deal but this is such good news.

My next appointment is in early March so might find out then. So pleased for all the team.

AVictoryProduct · 29/01/2021 09:23

Just here to say woo hoo! I'm on the trial and so happy that OUR vaccine is the best! Well, I think it is anyway. Well done to everyone who took part. I can't wait to find out what happens next. Medals? Trip to Buckingham Palace?! A PARADE with us at the front?!

Frazzled2207 · 29/01/2021 09:30

i just had an email from Dr Baxter (chap in charge at our hospital). Basically saying thanks for your efforts etc. Nothing mentioned (yet) about a change of plan in terms of the trial going forward.
