@GreenPlum I cannot wait until DP gets his vaccine.
When I told my 13yr old DD another has been approved with over 80% effective rate...she cried and said 'thank fuck for that' and then realised she has never sworn in front of me before, in fact she isn't a swearer (she spells the word crap lol) but we are too happy to care! I could scream I am so happy!
Thank you 😊

andadietcoke · 28/01/2021 21:58

@Idroppedthescrewinthetuna you made me cry!! That's so bloody lovely of you. I didn't think of it as being brave either, even if i was slightly terrified the day of my appointment. Much braver people went before us in the phase 1 and phase 2 trials. But so so so pleased the results are so good. Yay for science!

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 28/01/2021 21:59

@Frazzled2207

I'm a bit annoyed now as just went to tell my husband and he was really nonchalant and like 'oh that's good then'. I'm f*ing EXSTATIC *@Idroppedthescrewinthetuna* honestly it's a pleasure. I was just so pleased to have been able to do something helpful. My more recent efforts to help with the vaccination programme practically (as a volunteer) have so far gone absolutely nowhere
Be ecstatic! Scream, run, cry, jump! Do it all! You deserve it! Thank you! You have all helped our Country!!!
MrsHamlet · 28/01/2021 22:00

I did it partly for selfish reasons: I want to be able to go and see my mum, and travel, and touch people (that sounds creepy).
But I knew that as a teacher I was being exposed more than other people and thats what was needed so that everyone could get back to some kind of normal.
Tree bark and moths. Who knew!!

Another amazing individual! 😊😊😊 thank you!

When do you all find out if you had the vaccine or placebo?

sashagabadon · 28/01/2021 22:03

Great news! Well done all of you Smile

andadietcoke · 28/01/2021 22:03

Re being unblinded originally it was 12 months but a few people have been told we might be unblinded early

ramblingsonthego · 28/01/2021 22:04

I'm so proud and pleased the vaccine got these results. Obviously may not have had the vaccine (won't know for months and months), but I am really hoping I have had it.

Wildswim · 28/01/2021 22:06

Great news!

Well done everyone! 🏆

Waspnest · 28/01/2021 22:06

I hope you get the best hug from her! I can't wait to hug my mum. I will never take her for granted again! Not sure about 'touching people' though 😂

You are a teacher too! I have a new appreciation for teachers!
How any teacher manages to teach 30 children is amazing!
My 4 year old stumped us! She refused today to put 6 pigs in size order as there are only 3 in the story! And she wouldn't give the wolf 3 fewer coins than the pigs as the wolf is bad so deserves nothing and the pigs deserve all the coins. 🙄🤣

So teacher! Amazing! Part of the trial! Amazing!

Thannnkkk yoouu!

MrsHamlet · 28/01/2021 22:10

Were we? I think they might have mentioned that... I knew I shouldn't drink the tea 🤣

pennee · 28/01/2021 22:10

Oh I’m so pleased I did this trial. Well done everyone else who did. I’ve been unblinded and had the real vaccine so I’m pleased I’m classed as covered now for vaccination purposes.
We are going to get these vaccines quicker now I hope and life for everyone will get better 🤞

werekitty · 28/01/2021 22:11

Wow, so pleased to hear this! Now I just want to know whether I got the real thing or placebo

MrsHamlet · 28/01/2021 22:12

@Idroppedthescrewinthetuna your daughter sounds ace!!! Sod that naughty wolf...

I teach 14 year olds and up... 6 is more terrifying than being stabbed in the arm so Bill Gates can make me infertile and track me with 5G

Daftapath · 28/01/2021 22:13

Whoop whoop! Exciting news!

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 28/01/2021 22:19

My DD is ace, but drives me nuts!
She can smear ketchup on my walls and when I tell her I can see what she is doing she will tell me not to look then!
Teenagers, urgh I have 1 and could rip my hair out 😬

Yes, I hope you behave yourself now, you don't want Bill Gates watching you 'touch people' (sorry couldn't resist bring that up again)

Thecatisboss · 28/01/2021 22:22

Excellent news! Thanks to all the volunteers.

MrsHamlet · 28/01/2021 22:29

Bill Gates has been watching me planning to touch people since November. We've come to an agreement now!
Some of my students genuinely think I've been chipped. It's a worry.

airedailleurs · 28/01/2021 22:36

Just seen the good news re Novavax results after following this thread since the start, congratulations to all volunteers!

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 28/01/2021 22:36

Anyone else feel a bit tearful (in a good way)? Looks like “our” vaccine might be the best one yet!

MrsHamlet · 28/01/2021 22:38

Of course it's the best. It's ours 😂

Never any doubt in my mind.

Me and my husband are so happy and proud that we played a teeny tiny part in it.
