Have just had the call and am going tomorrow. Very excited. Anyone else doing this?

Has anyone had to miss their 3rd appointment because they are a close contact?

My 3rd appointment should be tomorrow, but my OH has tested positive for Covid so I need to stay at home until 5th Jan. From memory, tomorrow was the last day I could have my 3rd appointment within their 6 day window for the 3rd appointment.

I'll try ringing again tomorrow. No one was answering the phone today.

I'm hoping they will either visit me, or I can be unblinded and stop worrying about catching it from OH if I have had the vaccine! He is fine btw, no symptoms, it was picked up via routine testing at his work.

Woventabby · 28/12/2020 22:04

@ramblingsonthego Hope you will be OK! Fingers crossed for you.

@AVictoryProduct DS and DH tested positive, so my 3rd appointment was rearranged for a date when I would come out of my self-isolation, which was 10 days after the original appointment date, on the assumption that I wouldn't develop any symptoms. I didn't develop any symptoms, so I attended the 3rd appointment 10 days later. There was no talk of unblinding with the doctor. I don't know what would have happened if I had developed symptoms and tested positive, though.

AVictoryProduct · 29/12/2020 10:36

@Woventabby Thanks for your reply, this is interesting. Great that you didn't develop symptoms. Hopefully this means you have had the real thing.

ramblingsonthego · 29/12/2020 10:37

The lead Dr has just called me and they want me in for 11am to perform further tests and check how I am. I have to call from the car park though and they will come and get me and take me through a secure entrance. I will let you all know what tests they do etc......

MrsHamlet · 29/12/2020 11:07

Blimey, rambling
hope you're okay

BG2015 · 29/12/2020 11:50

Gosh! I wonder if they know what you got, vaccine or placebo?

ramblingsonthego · 29/12/2020 12:20

Back from the hospital. They took me to a covid secure metal shed Grin had all obs taken, another covid test (on top of the 3 I have to do daily), heart listened to, a full history of how I am feeling and what symptoms. I now have to isolate until I get the results which I am hoping is soon.

The only worrying thing is my blood pressure was sky high when it never has been before. It was 147/80.

BG2015 · 29/12/2020 12:55

Hope you feel better soon

AVictoryProduct · 29/12/2020 14:01

Thanks for the update @ramblingsonthego and I hope you come back negative and that you feel better soon.

ramblingsonthego · 29/12/2020 19:49

Just had my first test result and its negative. Woohoo! Still have todays and tomorrow's test results that will come back so I have to hope they stay negative.

pennee · 29/12/2020 19:54

Great news @ramblingsonthego
Fingers crossed for the others now too

Thank you. I think I have the same bug that my 3 year old has had, she had 2 negative tests, but my symptoms are not quite the same as hers (I have no cough at all) but she had the extreme tiredness and she still has itchy eyes like I do.

At least we know the system works, and you are checked very carefully when you do fall ill. We have a lot better back up then others who get ill.

BG2015 · 30/12/2020 17:23

Ramblings how are you feeling?

Was your second test negative?

AVictoryProduct · 30/12/2020 21:00

I've had a trial doctor visit my house!

OH tested positive several days ago. I had nausea last night, it woke me up and kept me awake. So I rang them and they sent a doctor round. She was very thorough and it seems that nausea and feeling tired was enough to 'trigger the pathway.' No other symptoms yet. So I have to fill in the diary for 10 days and do 3 tests. Test No. 1 in the post tonight. I was scared in the middle of the night but feel loads better today, especially after the check up from the doctor. As others have said, we are being looked after.

pennee · 30/12/2020 21:17

Good to hear everyone’s being looked after well. Hopefully you will both be better soon and that it’s not covid related.

ramblingsonthego · 31/12/2020 06:01

@BG2015 thank you for asking. I just got my second test result overnight and that was negative. Waiting for 2 more tests results now (the one taken at the hospital and yesterday's postal test). I am still exhausted but I think it is just a normal winter bug (my daughter had one recently that she had 2 negative teats for over 2 weeks).

The hospital did say they will want to see me next week again, but I dont know if that will change now I have had 2 negative tests and I am assuming the others will be negative as well.

AVictoryProduct · 01/01/2021 21:07

I'm still waiting for my test results - posted late on Wednesday. I'm finding it very hard to remain patient. How long has anyone else had to wait? When my phone goes off I get butterflies! I'm fine btw, just not looking forward to isolating for another 10 days if positive. My OH got his test results the next day! Maybe our trial tests go to a different lab?

ramblingsonthego · 02/01/2021 06:57

avictory my first 2 postal tests can back really quickly. Within 30 hours. My third one (from Wednesday) has only just come back this morning. I assume a back log from over Christmas.

Thank you! Was your third one negative too?

Mine came back negative at 6am this morning. Thank goodness. I'm so relieved. I've been waking up in the night with nausea and was convinced this was a warning sign of worse to come. It must have been anxiety and too much googling. I'm hoping Thurs and Fri results come back in the next couple of days.

ramblingsonthego · 02/01/2021 15:55

Yes mine were all negative, relived but also part of me was hoping maybe that was it and I would have some immunity for some months.

Mindymomo · 02/01/2021 17:01

@ramblingsonthego
I can only think that if they want you in again to test, that you’ve had the vaccine. I wonder when you will get to know.

MrsHamlet · 03/01/2021 17:30

Anyone doing regular lateral flow tests? My boss is planning to have all staff test this week but I'm not convinced... I don't know why!!!

ramblingsonthego · 03/01/2021 18:56

They are not reliable, and your boss may change his mind when he sees the cost of the tests! About £9 a test minimum seems to be the going rate. If he does say you have to do it, just do it. Its his money.
MrsHamlet · 03/01/2021 18:58

I work in a school so I suspect we're being given knock off ones from somebody in Goverment's dodgy mate...

ramblingsonthego · 03/01/2021 18:59

Ah ok. I think most schools are bringing them in. I would just do the tests if it were me. If you get a positive on them you then have to go for a pcr test as they are not that reliable by themselves. It may keep you safer at work.
